This is from a prompt someone sent to @omeliafics which it basically said that Amelia secretively wears Owen’s ring on a necklace but ends up losing it after a surgery and Owen finds out about it. Hope you guys like it! 💖💖💖
couldn’t remember the exact moment she had started doing it.
that’s not exactly true. She could.
She found a
simple golden necklace in the middle of her things when she moved back into
Meredith’s house, probably the one her parents had gotten for her when she was
little. Without actually realizing it, she took Owen’s wedding ring from her
back pocket, passed the golden string through it and just stared at it,
dangling, for what felt like hours.
marriage was over.
hadn’t said it out loud. She couldn’t bring herself to say it. It hurt too
shaken her head and clasped the necklace around her neck, with his ring attached to it. And hadn’t
taken it off every since.
made sure the necklace was hidden inside her shirts. She certainly didn’t need
people asking her questions.
It was nice
and weird at the same time. They weren’t together, but her feelings were still
there and she still found herself missing him, so feeling his wedding ring near
her heart made her feel closer to him somehow, as cheesy as it might sound.
she is currently panicking. Wherethe hell is it?!
Amelia had gotten
out of a craniotomy, just 30 minutes ago, and the necklace is nowhere to be
found. If it was any other object she wouldn’t care as much, but it’s his wedding ring. Besides her memories,
and an old t-shirt she secretly stole from their- his, closet, it’s pretty much
the only thing she has left from him.
the sound of the attending’s lounge’s door opening pulls Amelia from her
thoughts and she turns around in time to see April entering the room.
didn’t mean to scare you.”
fine.” Amelia waves her hand in a dismissive manner and continues looking
around the room, before bending down and looking under the couch.
something…” she sighs in frustration. “I really have to find it!”

necklace.” April didn’t need to know the meaning behind it.
well maybe I can help-“ April is cut off my the sound of her pager, “And maybe
not now, but I’ll let you know if I hear anything about it.”
Amelia mutters more herself, as April had already left the room, and continues
her search. Where the hell could it
day, still necklace-less, Amelia was sitting in the cafeteria by herself,
silently picking on her food. She was still upset about the necklace. Amelia
isn’t one of those people who are constantly losing things, and the rare times
she does it is usually something meaningless, but this necklace, and specially
the ring attached to it, has a tremendous amount of meaning to her.
Amelia feels a shadow next to her and looks up to find the red haired man who
constantly occupies her thoughts sitting next to her and setting his tray on
been doing this thing lately, where they occasionally have lunch together. They
never really planned it, it just sort of happens. They were both human beings,
who need food, happen to work at the same place and have lunch at the same
time, sometimes together, because that’s what friends do…
looks up at Owen, somewhat startled. How does he do that? He just sat down, not
even 5 seconds ago. She simply said ‘hi’ and he immediately knows something is
wrong with her.
unsettling, and, at the same time, comforting, the way he’s just able to read
her so effortlessly.
nothing…” she mumbles. Owen does the
thing, that damn head-tilt that always makes her weak at the knees and her
defenses coming down crumbling. She sighs, “I lost something…”
about to say something, when April’s voice cut through the chattering noise of
it!” she sits down on the chair next to Owen’s and takes a deep breath, as if
she had been running. “Sorry, I’ve been looking for you, here you go!“ April
says looking at Amelia, and extends her arm towards Amelia, making the necklace
dangle directly in front of Owen’s face, more precisely, making Owen’s ring dangle directly in front of Owen’s face…
feels Owen’s eyes on her, and subsequently her cheeks getting hotter. This is
talking, completely missing the atmosphere in the table. “One of the interns
found it. It was under the sinks in the scrubbing room of OR2, and-“
suddenly breaks out of her trance and snatches the necklace from April’s hand.
“Thank you, that’s um- Thanks, yeah…”
hasn’t moved his eyes away from her, a silly, but discreet, smile playing on
suddenly notices the mood between the two surgeons and figures out the meaning
behind the ring of the necklace and decides it’s better to leave them to talk.
“Okay, well, um, you’re welcome, and uh I’m gonna go now…”
settled around the table, neither Owen nor Amelia saying anything, when Owen’s
laughter unexpectedly breaks the awkwardness.
cheeks feel even hotter, but she finds herself laughing along with him.
“So um, you
walk around with my ring uh?” he says once his laughter dies down.
smiles, embarrassed of having been caught. Especially by him. “Is it weird? I
mean, isn’t this what people do when their spouses die, like unexpectedly?”
and shakes his head. Damn, he missed her weird sense of humor.
fine. I always have your ring with me too.” He shrugs, smiles and stands up. He
starts to leave but looks behind him and winks at her, before completely
leaving the room.
sits there, unsure of what do to, and a smile makes its way to her lips.
The first part of my muti-chapter. It is about Owen and Amelia’s pregnancy with their youngest child, Olivia. Amelia is really struggling with this pregnancy… you’ll see why.
need to talk to you.” I quietly say, avoiding making eye contact, still trying
to figure how I got myself in this situation, this terrible, awful situation.
at me lifting her eyes from the chart she was previously reviewing. She tries
and fails to look me in the eye as she says, “Sure thing Shepherd.” She sets
the Ipad back down and gestures for me to follow her into her office.
Once I come
into her office she gets straight to the point, “Alright, so what this about Shepherd?
Your clinical trail? Budget? Risky surgery? Vacation time? Pay?” I don’t answer
right away, because I am distractedly looking around the office. My eyes fall
on a picture of her, Ben and Tuck, still of in my own mind I run my hand across
“you’re really pale” “why aren’t you eating” “when was the last time you slept” and “you look like shit”
“Amelia, you okay?” Owen asked as he ran up from behind her. “Yeah, I’m good. Are you?” Amelia rhetorically asked. Owen ignored her question and let his face crumple in concern. “You’re really pale,” he observed.
“I’m always really pale, Owen,” she replied. Owen knew that, however this time her face was really pale. “When was the last time you slept?” He asked, noticing the dark circles under her eyes. “Last night?” She answered, but it came out as a question.
Owen studied her face for a few more minutes, then decided to let it go. “Okay,” he smiled, “Let me know if you need anything.”
Amelia gave a soft smile in return and began to walk towards the cafeteria. There, she found Maggie, Meredith, and April sitting at a table. Amelia sat in the only empty chair, falling into her seat and letting go of the breath she had been holding. “Hey,” Maggie said, “You okay?”
“Yes! I’m fine. Why the hell is everyone asking me that?” Amelia asked, sitting up. “Because you look like shit,” Meredith said. “Meredith!” Maggie scolded.
“Wow. Okay,” Amelia laughed. “Why aren’t you eating?” Meredith observed. “I’m not hungry,” Amelia replied. Meredith studied Amelia for a few seconds, then looked back to Maggie.
April and Amelia sat at the table and watched as Maggie and Meredith started a conversation amongst themselves.
“Are you really okay?” April whispered. Amelia felt as if her head was going to explode if she had to hear that question one more time. “It’s my son’s sixth birthday,” she whispered back. “Your son?” April asked.
“My unicorn baby,” Amelia said. She could feel the tears begin to form in her eyes.
April’s face instantly turned blank, remembering when Amelia talked about her baby in the bathroom a year ago. April didn’t say anything, because she knew there was nothing to say. She just simply placed her hand on top of Amelia’s as the two watched Maggie and Meredith talk about their day.
A/N: Hello lovely people! Finally I got some time to write again! I’m so so so so sorry for letting you wait for so long! It was quite challenging to process the story, as I started it before season 14 and the canon storyline made quite a different turn than I expected. Anyway, I hope you’ll enjoy this part! I’m always happy about comments and tips! At the beginning I added a few passages from the last part to rememer, how it ended (since it was a million years ago :))
~ Owen ~
suddenly blamed himself for not trying to walk in her shoes to understand her. He
loved her. Even though they’d never said it directly, he knew that Amelia loved
him as well. Only fear would interfere with those strong feelings. And he had
stumbled blatantly over them by just selfishly thinking of nothing but himself
and how he wouldn’t get to be a father again.
that moment, Owen knew he had messed up.
was she supposed to be doing? Just forgive Owen and subdue to his expectations?
No, out of question. Talk to him and tell him her whole story? Maybe. But right
now, nothing seemed more right than to stay there in that fucked up bar,
revelling in that anonymity and downing the three pills of oxy with scotch. She
did what felt right, guided her hand to her mouth and took a large sip of the
dark liquid, feeling the burning heat in her throat.
that moment, Amelia knew she had messed up. Again.
“Thank God, you’re here.”
Owen opened the door and was so relieved to find
Amelia standing in front of him. After he’d searched every possible place at
the hospital for her to no avail, he’d driven home to wait and eventually calling
the police, if she wouldn’t show up.
His relief soon vanished, as he realized what state
she was in. Her frame was lumped forward and her eyes that were drawn to the
floor were bloodshot. “What’s wrong??”
She slowly looked up at him and her face contorted. “I
screwed things up.” She slurred before stumbling forward, when another wave of
nausea hit her. Owen quickly caught her, before she fell into the house
entrance. Carefully he guided her in, and closed the door behind them with his
foot. He laid her down on the couch, as he had just done a few days ago, when
she had fainted. “I screw everything up. All the time. Told you so!” Even
though her eyes opened again, they were not focused. Owen had trouble understanding
her words as she mumbled them through nearly closed lips. Alarmed he reached
into the pocket of her leather jacket, just to find his fear confirmed: a small
“what happened” and “walk it off” (more owen/amelia being clumsy fics)
Amelia was talking to the front desk nurse when she heard a loud groan coming from an on call room. Normally, she wouldn’t investigate, knowing what that could have been. But she was curious, and the groan sounded painful.
“Thank you,” Amelia said to the nurse, handing her the charts. Amelia turned around and went towards the on call room. She knocked and to her response was another painful sounding groan. With that, she opened the door and saw her husband sprawled out on the floor.
“Owen?” She asked, dropping to his side, “What happened? Are you okay? Are you sick?”
“I fell,” he replied. “You fell?” Amelia asked, brushing the hair away from Owen’s face. She looked at him from head to toe trying to see any visible injuries. “Off the top bunk,” he sighed. Amelia couldn’t help but let out a small laugh. “You fell off the bed?”
“It hurts,” Owen said. Amelia’s smile quickly left her face and was replaced by a frown. “What hurts?” She asked, becoming more and more worried.Amelia began to think to herself, “What if he has a brain injury? Oh God, who knows how hard he fell.”
“My butt,” he said, interrupting her thoughts. “Your butt?” Amelia asked, her smile slowly coming back. “My butt hurts. I fell on it,” he laughed. Amelia rolled her eyes. “Jesus,” she laughed.
She put her hand out, waiting for Owen to take it. When he did, she used all the weight she had in herself to help him slowly stand up. “Walk it off,” she said.
grey’s anatomy caused me so much stress and anxiety that i feel like it’s actually made me nonchalant to other fandom rumours. divorce? old news. infidelity? sucks. death? constantly in a state of denial. ghost sex? wouldn’t be the 1st time.
Grey’s Anatomy: Free Falling ↳
Even good marriages fail. One minute you’re standing on solid ground, the next minute- you’re not. And there are always two versions. Yours, and theirs. The both versions start the same way, though. They both start with two people falling in love. You think yours is the one that’s gonna make it. So it always comes as a shock. The moment you realize it’s over. One minute you’re standing on solid ground, the next minute, you’re not.
