1) The week before: Justin Bieber’s comeback effort Purpose had the highest-selling debut week of 2015; it sold 522,000 copies and 649,000 equivalent album units. He did not hold onto that title for long.
2) In 2000: *NSYNC’s No Strings Attached, sold 2,416,000 in it’s first weekat the music industry’s peak. Adele just broke that record earlier today and the week isn’t even out.
3) The other pop princess: Taylor Swift’s 1989 has sold 5.35 million copies in the 13 months since it came out. Adele sold nearly half that in two days.
The end of the world has been predicted many different times in many different ways by many different people. A lot of these people are musicians. Rob Zombie offered “The Beginning of the End,” Bright Eyes got lower than usual with “No One Would Riot for Less,” and The Cure got literal with “End of the World.” Even ‘N SYNC’s “Digital Get Down” was a sexual apocalypse of sorts.
The list could probably go on forever, but we don’t have time for that, due to the impending End of Days that will surely destroy us all sooner rather than later.
