“The memories engraved in my soul and the miracle that I believe in
Will be born soon in a new world; I hold your hand and confront it”
- Furude Rika

Ahh— Finally i draw Rika-chan from Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni ;;u;; One of my favorite characters in Higurashi >w<
I love her character though. She’s a double face character (how i love those characters with double face personality) She’s 10 years old but mentally, she’s already 110 years old. I hope you’ll like it! And i think i want to draw a fanart of Jigoku Shoujo <3

How many times has Rika experienced June 1983? Well, even if we know that she’s been at it for a hundred years, it’s still impossible to calculate for sure because how far back she goes isn’t consistent. But I’m pretty sure it’s a lot fewer times than most people think. It certainly isn’t “thousands” of times, although Rika and Hanyuu like to say that. Even if she was only repeating June 1983, and only until, say, the 22nd, it would still “only” be about 1600 times.

But she isn’t just repeating June 1983. We know from Himatsubushi-hen that she used to go back at least five years before that, and that she went that far back at least enough times to get bored of everything. And the time she goes back has gradually been getting shorter since then.

Also, Rika doesn’t say that she’s been repeating things for a hundred years. In Tsumihoroboshi-hen, she says that she has been Rika Furude for a hundred years. Meaning, you have to take her entire age of her first time around into account. I’m not sure how old Rika is, but let’s just say she’s ten.

Now, this is terribly arbitrary, but let’s say that Rika went back five times to each of the five previous years. So we’d have Rika’s original age, 10, plus 25 years for the first year, 1978. So 35. Then 20 for 1979. 55. Then 15 for 1980. 70. Then 10 for 1981. 80. Then 5 for the 1982. 85. We only need 15 more, so let’s fill that up with the 6 months of the year 1983 before Rika’s death. Now we have 100 years.

So how many times does this add up to? 56 times. Like I said, I added it up in a very arbitrary way, so don’t take this to be the exact number. But even if I were to be extremely generous, I probably wouldn’t go much higher than 100 times.

And I’m in no way trying to poo-poo Rika’s experience being stuck in the loop. A hundred years is a hundred years no matter how you slice it, after all.

Besides, there’s also a chance that my math is completely wrong. Math really isn’t my strong suit.
