Trust Me | Jumin Han x Reader

RATING: Teen | WORD COUNT: 1,326 | GENRE: Drama/Fluff
SUMMARY: A rumour comes out that you’re cheating on Jumin with Zen, and you’re afraid of what Jumin’s reaction would be.

It’s amazing just how vicious the public media could be, twisting words and statements around and interpreting situations to suit their own satisfaction. They would do anything to get a good story and try to rile up the general public. They can either raise a simple nobody to glory and make them out to be a hero, or they can drag someone so revered down through the dirt. Say what you will, the media possessed power.

Jumin was already used to dealing with those vultures from a young age. It was something he learned quickly and by himself, but you were different. Being hounded by the press or having self-proclaimed experts spouting nonsense about you online was completely new to you. Though you expected this kind of response after that public stunt Jumin pulled at the party, it was a bit more intense than you had initially thought.

Never Got No Good Doing What I’m Told
By Organization for Transformative Works

Author: @carpemermaidtales | WC: 41.8k | Rating: NC-17

Summary: Draco works as a consultant for the Auror Department, much to Harry’s continued consternation. The idea that Malfoy’s got an ulterior motive and hiding something rankles Harry enough to follow him home, discovering that Draco lives a decidedly Muggle lifestyle. Harry, sure that he’s Up To Something™, stalks Draco all over Muggle London. Draco, all too aware of Harry’s latest obsession with him, decides to take him on an adventure.

Meanwhile, they both need to work together in a race against the clock to get a deadly illegal potion off the streets of wizarding London. Draco has ulterior motives when it comes to the case at hand, and Harry’s suspicions get the best of him when the pressure is on to arrest a suspect.

Review: Wow, this was so stirring and dramatic and tense! This is the story about a Harry who is absolutely convinced that Malfoy is up to no good, despite no evidence to back up this claim, and does the most questionable things to prove this.

And Draco certainly takes Harry on quite the adventure, intentional at first as he uses their old antagonism to exacerbate the situation, until it starts becoming more genuine as he starts trying to unconsciously show Harry who he really is as a person now. The emotional whirlwind Draco (and Harry, I suppose, once he gets his head out of his one-track-minded arse) goes through - smugness, attraction, betrayal, heartbreak - truly pulls you in.

Harrys impulsiveness and mindless obsession despite his rational mind almost made me as a reader want to scream in frustration, despite being able to see what he’s thinking every step (read: bad decision) of the way. It’s just who he is, or at least what the circumstances of his childhood made him to be. With all this drama, this fic also has mystery, suspense and interesting secondary characters as well, intriguing enough to pull you out of Harry and Draco’s headspaces when it all gets too messed up and twisty.

Overall, this is certainly a story that sure will suck you in.

Reflected Beauty (Ch. 1) | Zen/Hyun Ryu x Reader

RATING: Teen | GENRE: Romance/Fluff/Drama/Angst/Hurt/Comfort
SUMMARY: When he was a child, Zen found an old mirror and made a new friend on the same day. He’s grown up since then, and he realizes that he’s fallen in love with you, the friend he made on that day. There was just one problem: you were trapped inside only mirrors holding Zen’s reflections.
NOTE: Reader is not MC. May contain spoilers.

“Wow, you have such nice hair. Can I touch it?”

“You have gorgeous-looking eyes. Can I look at them closer?”

“Your skin looks so smooth and soft. Can I feel it?”

Zen hated it. Everywhere he went, everybody would always want to touch him. To get a better look at him. Why did everybody keep on bothering him? He was just a child who wanted to have fun. It wasn’t like he asked for these good looks. It wasn’t like he wanted people to approach him because of appearances alone. It wasn’t like he wanted his mother constantly telling him how ugly he looked.

Harry Potter Gives A Shit
By Organization for Transformative Works

Author: talithan | Word Count: 58.5k | Rating: NC-17

Summary: “Where are you headed?” “No place special,” Draco fumbled, and flushed further. But then: “I can change that,” said Harry Potter.

Review: Honestly one of my absolute favourites, the way this emotionally charged fic develops takes my breath away. This is an adaptation evolved from Queer As Folk, but it’s not necessary to have watched the show to read this.

Draco finds himself in muggle London nervous but determined to walk into a gay club, but finds himself face to face with a drunk, drugged but overwhelming Harry Potter who takes him home. And he rocks Draco’s world, but Harry’s reaction and feelings throughout are extremely ambiguous.

It has three chapters, and you can see how the interactions between Harry and Draco shift so clearly between them, even though it’s very subtle. The dynamic between Harry and Draco is so strong, even as it goes through its changes.

A lot of this fic is painful, and you can’t help but fervently feel for Draco and how much hurt he experiences because of Harry because he never knows where he stands with him, but you can also see why Harry is so magnetic to him. Harry is so messed up, and he’s very aware of that fact and despite how fucked up he is, you can’t help but want him to be happy too. And um wow, the sex is absolutely incredibly scorching.

The characters have been crafted beautifully and vibrantly, and it’s wonderful how all of them have their own personalities and insecurities and individuality, how all of them love each other despite all the flaws. Ginny, Astoria, the Weasleys, all the secondary characters - it’s truly how unique yet canon all of them are. And despite how angsty and frustrating the beginning is, the end leaves you with such a fulfilled and happy feeling.

The Malfoy Family Silver

Author: blackhemlock | Word Count: 19.1k | Rating: NC-17

Summary: In his dreams Draco sees horrors and when he wakes, he remembers that each and every one of them is real. And when he wakes, he straps on his dragon-hide armour and goes out to stop what he can.

Rating: Wow, this was absolutely engrossing. This post-apocalyptic type world where Dark magical creatures have taken over as a result of misguided, yet good intention is one where Draco finds himself ‘a leader of the resistance’ of sorts, and is the kind of thing to give you chills because of how involving the story is.

All the characters are all kinds of wonderfully distinct, and the way this story is woven, with all of its dark and light fragments together, results in something quite different from what we normally read in fanfiction.

Nothing is romanticised - not the war, werewolves or any of the creatures, ‘mating’… not even the characters are spared from the stark light that this fic shines on them. This fic really is quite something, and I definitely recommend this. Despite how creepy I’ve made it sound, this really is a fantastically magical story.

'Twas Brillig

Summary: Harry reads a chapter of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland to his children before bed every night and through the story, he and his middle child find an ally in each other as they, along with Alice, discover a world that just doesn’t seem to make sense when taken at face value. The more aware Harry becomes - embracing his child’s reality - the more motivated he is to build a wizarding world that is fully inclusive, and by processing these life lessons finds he’s able to connect with another person in ways that have always eluded him.

Review: This fic is an absolute wonder - I’ll always be wary of epilogue compliant fics, and then always feel ridiculous when I come across fics like these. I’ve found when epilogue compliant fics are good, they turn out to be the most thoughtful and beautiful stories.

At the very heart of it, this is a story about self discovery, acceptance and family, and all the good and bad that comes along with those things. These aren’t themes that are often explored in fanfiction, and they really made this fic stand out for me.

It’s so realistic and grounded, displaying all the ups and downs a family faces. Ginny is wonderfully human, so much so that you feel like you know her as well as Harry does. However, despite their young age, the kids are the stars of this story - Albus in particular, who goes through so much and undergoes quite the transformation and takes Harry and Ginny along for the journey.

Harry goes through an evolution of his own in this story. The feelings he experiences as he evolves so thoroughly are very visceral, as he escapes from his personal and external shackles and finds himself in unexpected ways and in unexpected people.

It also shows a startlingly genuine and fleshed out exploration into the kind of reactions that form from society to homosexuality, prejudice and change in general. There are so many things that make this feel like such an authentic story, encompassing so much more than Harry and Draco’s unaffected chemistry and relationship.

Simply a wonderful read - sometimes sad, frustrating and heart breaking, but also fun, sanguine and transformative. (So many adjectives in this review aaaa)

No Greater Victory
By Organization for Transformative Works

Author: @dictacontrion | Word Count: 26.8k | Rating: NC-17

Summary: Back at Hogwarts after the war, a defeated Draco Malfoy is prepared to settle for life’s simpler pleasures: snark, sex, and Slytherin scheming. That is until Pansy, newly in possession of Malfoy Manor, offers to return his ancestral home. Just one condition: he has to win, and break, Harry Potter’s heart to get it. That’s no problem. Draco’s got this situation completely under control. Completely. At least until he doesn’t.

Review: So we read this story through Draco’s journal entries. As soon as the story starts you feel like you are almost plunging into Draco’s headspace. Which happens to be a mean, cynical and cold place. As the tags warn, Draco starts off as an angry, defensive arse, and as always it’s always those characters that fascinate the most.

It’s quite drastic, seeing how Draco thinks of the world around him and the way he judges everyone surrounding him, and then to read him talking about Harry. There’s a very clear difference, the way he can’t seem to write about Harry without talking about the lightness and energy and sincerity that is Harry. And then you read from Harry’s perspective and yet again it’s like whiplash, how different the tone is from Draco’s. It was so thoughtfully and skilfully done I’m still kind of reeling from it.

I loved the way Draco writes about the time they spend together. It was like they weren’t accommodating each other at all or trying to change in any way - they played Quidditch, they sanded Grimmaulds floorboards, they talked. You could almost feel the way Draco felt so far away from the Slytherins, how he was wholly there for and with Harry *flails* I’m a bit in love with this fic you know??
