Happy International Celebrate Bisexuality day everyone! Now onto today’s myth.

Myth: Bisexuals can ‘pass’ as straight.
Truth: A lot of bi people have experiences of being excluded from LGBTQ spaces on the basis that they ‘aren’t gay enough,’ or ‘aren’t really oppressed’ like the True Homos™ because they can apparently ‘choose’ to be in a ‘straight’ relationship. The fact is that bisexuals can no more choose who they’re attracted to than anyone else can. Non-straight people have no straight privilege. What people perceive as ‘straight passing’ in reality generally consists of bisexuals constantly having their sexuality invalidated, and being excluded from LGBTQ spaces and support systems which can be vital to their wellbeing.
