Spiritual Laziness

Spiritual laziness could be defined as relying on other to do your own inner work. For example, someone may ask you to recommend a good video to watch. When they see that the video is over an hour long, they’ll ask you for a summary of it. The same could be said about any given article.

Another common theme is not finding the time to do inner work. Comedian Jerry Seinfeld has been practicing Transcendental Meditation ™ for over 40 years but recently realized he was not doing it correctly by not meditating in the morning upon arising. Once he started doing TM in the morning, he found that his energy levels rose to heights never achieved before. The bottom line is that he spent an extra 20-30 minutes each morning to feel more energy all throughout the day.

Roddy Piper speaks to Bob Backlund
[July 20th, 1978]

To establish himself early on, Roddy Piper gunned for the top guy in every promotion he worked for. In 1978, Piper was part of the NWA Hollywood roster, where he gained a reputation for being less than good by attacking the legendary Guerrero family. After achieving a number of wins, he was ready for the top spot in the company and wanted to make an impression on the champion, Bob Backlund. This is how he did so.

Present, But Not... Present

It’d been a bit since I actually looked through my dash. I’ll pop in every few days with a lame post or plug for the podcast, but other than that, I’m not really here. There’s a few reasons for that, one of them being I see this blog can easily turn onto some crabby old man blog where I just rail against everything. I’m really sure I want that, and I’m fairly certain no one wants to read that. Most people don’t really read the shit I post much anymore anyway, but that’s neither here nor there.

Then again, maybe I should just go all in and embrace the grumpy, get the unfollow train rolling, inadvertently offend some folks, get political, get some more anon hate…then plug the podcast.

I don’t know. But I do know someone needs to come by here with a Slurpee and a bag of Krispy Kreme’s because I was up until 3am (because sex) and my kids have achieved their latest evolution into “Every second of the day will be whining, wanting, crying little patience terrorists” and the apartment looks like a bomb off in here. Slurpee’s and doughnuts will help.

Oh, and go listen to our weekly podcast, it’s pretty awesome. Well, we think it’s awesome.

Sakura, because of her medical ninjutsu, strength and power inherited from Tsunade, was able to become a heroine of her generation while Hinata became a heroine as a kunoichi because she mastered the gentle fist. Snatch/Steal refers to her grabbing the title of heroine because of her achievements while Sakura boasts the heroine status because of her power as well.

It really isn’t that hard Sakura haters. Heroine refers to being heroines in their generation in the narutoverse not heroine of the series. Sakura had this because of her power and Hinata was able to grab it for herself as well because of her gentle first. She went from being weak to being a great kunoichi and an accomplished kunoichi.

[I have an interview Thursday at a salon that has about 300% more clientele base than mine, with an earning potential that’s also nearly triple what I’m knocking down.   Sending my husband back to college in January would be a doable thing, if I’m hired on.  As much as I genuinely love the place I’m at now, and as heartbreaking as it would be to leave, I’m in this industry to hu$tle and achieve financial security for myself and my family.

So, sacrifice a chicken or something for me.

Running out the door to finally mail things for warboywhisper and pick up bristol and such for keeperofantiseeds ridiculous painting :D ]]

In precisely one week I celebrate my 22nd year of living.

And I want y’all to know that it’s totally worth sticking out, even if you feel like it’s not sometimes.

May you all have many, many happy birthdays; you deserve it. I promise, even when life doesn’t seem like it’s worth dealing with anymore, you’ll get to a point when it is.

Birthdays are an achievement. But more than that, every single day of life is an achievement. All of it, every single one, is worth celebrating. And you deserve happiness and fun and light and love and a long life well lived.

So for my birthday, I ask you all, as a gift to me: Go live your life, go have fun, do something you like, look at something cute, watch a great movie, read a book, eat some cake/ice cream/your birthday treat of choice, do whatever it is that makes your heart happy, and above all, LIVE. Live your life, my friends. I tell you from experience that it’s totally worth it.

Karlie Kloss’s CV reads like a dream – supermodel, baker, student, squad leader and now Vlogger. And as she reaches the grand old age of 23 today, we can’t help but marvel at her unstoppable career and endless achievements. Cue the Klossary, our ultimate guide (and ode) to the truly modern supermodel…

She’s Been Killing It On The Katwalk For Seven Years Now

…And she’s earned every second of her success. Missouri-raised Karlie wasn’t born into a famous family and was discovered the old fashioned way, at a charity fashion show at the age of 13. Her first catwalk season came in 2008, aged 16, and she was so in demand that she walked 31 shows in New York alone. KK has never looked back, working with some of the world’s biggest brands from Victoria’s Secret, to Kate Spade, to L’Oreal.

She Does Koding

After taking some coding classes herself last summer, Karlie was so inspired that she’s encouraging others to do the same. The Kode With Karlie scholarship launched in April this year, allowing 20 girls aged between 13 and 18 to develop computer programming skills – an amazing move to help balance the male dominated tech-industry. ‘I think it’s crucial that young women learn to code as early as possible to ensure that we have a voice in what the world looks like,’ she says. Anyone still believe that age-old notion that supermodels are airheads?

She LOVES A Kookie

Remember when supermodels used to declare ridiculous things like ‘nothing tastes as good as skinny feels’? Well enter the new generation, led by the likes of Karlie and Jourdan Dunn, who are total foodie fanatics and renowned chefs. Karlie started her collaboration with Momofuku Milk Bar in 2012, bringing batches and batches of her gluten-free, dairy-free Kookies for all her supermodel mates to munch on backstage at fashion week. Suddenly it’s pretty obvious how she made all those famous friends, isn’t it? Oh and all proceeds go to FEED, providing school meals to children around the world, naturally.

She’s One Half Of Kaylor

…And is therefore a joint leader / co-founder of #TheSquad. Taylor Swift and Karlie Kloss define our friendship goals, with their road-trips, GIFable in-jokes and baking parties at Taylor’s apartment. They Insta-support all of eachother’s major achievements, even joining the other on their respective stages on a couple of occasions.

Backstage, She’s Queen Bee

Cara, Kendall, Joan and Gigi can always be found huddled round the Kloss. Jourdan Dunn even made Karlie her son’s godmother. This is how much KK is loved by her clique.

She’s Now A Vlogger

As if Karlie didn’t have enough strings to her supermodel bow, she’s now officially a Vlogger, too. The Klossy YouTube channel launched officially last week, promising us #NoFilter access to the former Victoria’s Secret model’s life. ‘In 2005, I was “discovered” and things got pretty crazy pretty quickly. I’d be in second period chemistry one day, and then walking the Paris runway the next,’ she says. ‘Over the years, modelling has kept me very busy, but it’s not my sole focus I’ve spent the majority of my life in front of the camera, but not my camera. And that’s where this is different. I could not be more excited to share my story, and this adventure, with you.’

She’s Off To Uni

Forbes have estimated Karlie’s net worth at £2.55million, but that’s not stopping our favourite modern model from aiming for even higher heights. Come autumn, she’s off to NYU, purely to make all of those business and tech skills official. Seriously, is there anything Karlie Kloss can’t do?

For that exciting Eldrazi prompt! Turns out I already had something I’d come up with for a revised Eldrazi mechanic, although this was pre-Oblivion Sower so it’s not built to interact with it. But I think it’s cool anyway, so here it is. It’s called Restrain:

The general idea is that this better represents the ‘battle’ for Zendikar. Whereas in Rise, we were supposed to be intimidated and impressed by the sheer power of the Eldrazi, as shown by Annihilator, in Battle for Zendikar, we have to believe that the Eldrazi can be beaten - albeit only through great effort, and that’s what Restrain sets out to achieve. Here the power of the Eldrazi is shown through sheer size and reduced cost; but a dedicated opponent can expend resources to stop them - of course tying up their own creatures in the process, and if an opponent has more than one Eldrazi monster then well, watch out. I’m not sure if the templating is perfect (I won’t ever claim that lofty goal) but I think it works well as read. I’d considered dropping the cost to 6 mana as well but hey, I’m not a developer.

Here’s also one of my personal favourite designs I’ve ever made, which shows another side to the Eldrazi and another side to Restrain:

I loved the ‘colour bleed’ that occured in New Phyrexia and reasoned that the same thing could, theoretically, happen to the Eldrazi as they go about devouring the mana-rich world of Zendikar. So Whispering Madspawn is the Eldrazi version of Mind Control. Threat of activation galore. Also cheers to Sir Hanselot for that incredible art.

All-downside mechanics are pretty rare for a reason, and it’s a little weird to think of the Eldrazi taking orders from people; their whole schtick is that they can’t be slowed down or bargained with on account of their completely alien minds.

But flavor aside, this would be a neat thing to put on one or two relatively-weaker Eldrazi, un-keyworded, to show that Zendikar can take them down if its inhabitants work together.

Hi! I really love how your brushes look and was wondering which ones you liked to use? Thank you; your art is fantastic !!

Hi, hi! First of all, thank you so much for the support! <3

One of the first brushes I used (and am still using) is Stumpy Pencil. This was my all around brush when I started drawing more on Photoshop. Now, I mostly use this if I want to achieve a thicker, more cartoony style of inking and for laying out solid colors. I also like to use this for painting. This brush is easy to customize so you can change it according to your needs.

I bought this set of Frenden brushes and used the blue pencil for sketching and the organic brush for inking. And I did enjoy but I haven’t been using them that much ever since a friend gifted me Kyle’s Ultimate Megapack.

Now, this set is HUUUUGE. I haven’t played around with all of the brushes yet but I will list down my favorites. If i want to achieve super clean lines for inking, I use the clean comics 1 brush. I like how you can easily achieve thick/thin lines with this brush.

I also like playing around with the go gritty brushes with inking and painting for that not so clean look. For adding in shadows/highlights, I love using the big wide softy brush. I’ll sometimes experiment with other brushes in this set when I’m trying to achieve a certain effect but these are my go-tos.

Bonus: I use Blue’s doodle brushes for all my sketches.

Of course, I did start out using Photoshop’s default brushes. There’s nothing wrong with them. Maybe experiment with those first and try to have a feel on what kind of brushes you favor. You can make your own brushes too if you want! I’m not very good at that so I just invest in some nice brushes and tinker with the settings to fit my needs.

Man, this turned out longer than I was expecting. I hope I was able to help though!

A Thousand Pieces of You

Series: Firebird

Goodreads Rating: 3.94 (★★★★)

My Rating: 4 (★★★★)

Genres: young adult, science fiction, romance

Summary:  Marguerite Caine’s physicist parents are known for their radical scientific achievements. Their most astonishing invention: the Firebird, which allows users to jump into parallel universes, some vastly altered from our own. But when Marguerite’s father is murdered, the killer—her parent’s handsome and enigmatic assistant Paul—escapes into another dimension before the law can touch him.

Marguerite can’t let the man who destroyed her family go free, and she races after Paul through different universes, where their lives entangle in increasingly familiar ways. With each encounter she begins to question Paul’s guilt—and her own heart. Soon she discovers the truth behind her father’s death is more sinister than she ever could have imagined.

My thoughts:  This book was pretty good. Not absolutely amazing, but pretty good. The ideas behind the story are incredibly interesting with all the physics theories and dimension jumping and the differences in dimensions. Though I’m not sure how I feel about the love triangle like thing between the characters.

Pros: The different dimensions are really interesting from the 20th century Romanov’s to the futuristic-like (because it’s dimension travel not time travel) London, to the flooded Earth. I really enjoyed the Romanov one, but that might just be me. And it has nothing to do with Russian Paul. Ok. Maybe a little bit but I’m a sucker for palaces and royal parties.

Each character was unique. Theo is mischievous and stubborn, but has the best intentions. Paul is quiet and speaks with his actions than his words. Marguerite is headstrong, passionate, and artistic. And Conley is the unsuspected antagonist with his boyish charm.

The romance between Marguerite and Paul is both quick and slow going. In her dimension its a slow and steady falling. In Russia, it’s a quick trip into each other’s hearts. It’s honestly really cute and though I wouldn’t exactly call them my OTP, it’s still a great match.

The physics side of the story isn’t too complicated to understand. I’m not sure if that’s because Marguerite is artistic and not a scientific genius like the rest of her household or for the sake of the readers. Probably a little of both which is a great touch.

Cons: At the beginning of the book, there’s a lot of jumping back and forth between the past and the present and it can get just a little bit confusing.

Some of the plot twists were predictable. None of which I will go over, but keep that in mind when you dive in.

The relationships between Paul and Marguerite and Theo seems a bit.. weak and convenient. The relationship between Paul and Marguerite is a little stronger than that of Theo and Marguerite. There isn’t that much of a build to it.

Recommended: Yes.
