The incident with Champ was good for several reasons. Purgatory is still a small town and that can be a really precarious place to be gay. I like that even Champ was more angry about the fact that Nicole was a cop than a woman. Sheriff Nedley had a moment of ‘oh!’ and then was like ‘that’s their own private business.’ I think it speaks to how both Nicole and Waverly are regarded in the town — they are so beloved — the town may be more accommodating to their romance than Waverly had feared. It was a nice moment. It doesn’t have to be full of angst going forward necessarily … although it probably will be! [x]
