(about the singing)

I saw Hayley Kiyoko live a few days ago and I just gotta gush. It was just incredible seeing all these young lgbt+ kids lined up to see her. I was closeted in high school and scared of expressing myself.. I’m so so so glad she exists for young lgbt+ people to come to terms with their identity and accepting themselves much earlier than a lot of us did. It was so pure seeing a woman singing about her love for women and to have a room full of people singing along with her.

They tell me not to write love poems.
-
They say, Black people have no time.
The revolution needs protest songs and bleeding banners
and chants that will resurrect
our children.
They say there is nothing revolutionary about black love.
-
But more black girls die from invisibility
than from gunshots.
We can’t find our own reflections -
because when the world lives like we don’t exist,
eventually we believe it too.
-
But what is more revolutionary than two forgotten people
drawing each other back into reality?
—  The way you love her is your revolution. Darling, won’t you sing about it?
Two Thoughts about “The Tales of Ba Sing Se”
  1. Interestingly, Zuko isn’t as awkward as he usually is. Kind of, anyway. This is probably because of subject matter. That said, I like how he eventually gets comfortable-ish talking to her.
  2. I found it kind of odd that Iroh reverts to calling Zuko “Prince Zuko” at the end of his date, since the whole point of going to Ba Sing Se in the first place was to leave the Fire Nation behind. However, this could be because he just came back from mourning his son, and it ties into the whole father-son dynamic Iroh and and Zuko have going on.

So, yeah, I just turned on YouTube’s Restricted Mode out of curiosity, and the vast majority of videos I’ve posted here on lgbtmusicvideos are blocked in Restricted Mode. To be honest, it’s kind of heartbreaking. Some of these blocked music videos are just, like, two ten-year-olds realizing they’re in love, or two people singing about how they love being transgender. It sucks a lot.

Chin up, everybody. Never forget that our identities, our stories, our loves, and our lives are just as valid and “appropriate” to tell as anyone else’s.

(1/2) Hi Anne! Just want to add something about why BTS needs to sing in Japanese. First, Japan is the 2nd largest market in the music industry so it's a big deal if they're able to enter the market. And as far as I know, before DBSK became really popular in Japan, it's hard for kpop idols to enter the Japanese market. I think there's only Rain, Boa, and DBSK at that time..you rarely or hardly see any kpop idols having activities in Japan.

(2/2) Also, I don’t know about Rain, but Boa and DBSK entered the Japanese market as Jpop artists. They didn’t just learn the language, they also adapted their culture. I remember DBSK saying they had to change how they act and speak. It took them years to guest on tv programs and rank no. 1 in oricon. From then on, Japanese audience started to embrace kpop culture, hence the start of hallyu wave in Japan. Speaking and singing in Japanese is a basic requirement when you enter the Japanese market

i really can’t wait for harry’s music!!!! like just thinking about hearing his beautiful voice singing his beautiful lyrics oh my god???? and then when dunkirk promo starts and eventually his album’s promo starts and we’ll get to hear him talk about what he loves and enjoys doing the most, all dimpled smiles and bright eyes!!!! and omg the photoshoots we’re gonna get of him looking beautiful and wearing gorgeous clothes and AHHHHHHH

When I was in third grade, a boy in my class had recently found out I could sing and asked me to sing something. So, without really thinking about it, I just starting singing "I kissed a girl" by Katy Perry in front of the entire class, and I didn't even know I was a lesbian at that point, hilariously enough.

GAY OMFG

One of the million things that bugs me about glee is how they ruined Tina .. RIB could have done so much with her character but they decided to use the same story line over and over (Rachel doesn't get her way, sings about it, talks for five minutes trying to prove a useless point, gets her way, sings about it) And when they put her in the spotlight did it negatively. also how they dressed Mercedes so stereotypically and the whole Mercedes/west side storY THING don't even get me startED

someone made a post saying that they eevntually just tried to turn tina into rachel and IM SO ANGRY BC THE Y ARE RIGHT ;__;

tina suddenly switched from goth to super bright colors to eventually having very similar hair and clothes to rachel. she looked better in them but it made me mad bc tina was a REALLY neat character in s1-2! then they made her rachel’s #1 fan for some..reasON.

yo i can write ESSAYS about the shitty ass WSS plot LOL. it still angers me how mercedes was seen as immature and rude for not wanting to split a role that she worked her ass off for?

why do ppl mock The Indie Girl Voice™ so much when The Pop Punk Guy Voice™ is one of the worst and most grating singing styles ever

So I met Tarjei yesterday..?

He’s the sweetest, cutest and most adorable person in the world..? His hugs are so comfortable? I thanked him for what he did with SKAM and how “his” Isak helped me a lot with understanding myslef and admitting issues I wasn’t able to say aloud earlier and he looked at me, smiled and said “you’re not alone”. I can’t believe he “du er ikke alene”-ed me with this wonderful, warm smile.
