  • Aries: emotionally comfortable in the thick of firey adventure, extremely uncomfortable with stagnation in life, things always need to be exciting, they are on the go go go towards new life, will shake things up even if that means they have to ruffle some feathers, they can't sit still with the concept of boring.. Feeling bored is something they have no patience for. The sense of Self is a strong component to their emotional balance.. "What do I need right now? Will this feel right for me? Is this what I want to do?" Aries is all about personal will. They need to feel like they are expressing that will in ways that ignite their passion. Being forced into exerting energy towards something they don't care about is a deep root of distress. Emotionally quick tempered, their emotions are always evolving and morphing into something new..their emotions hit them like fireballs that encompass their entire being.. In the heat of their emotions that moment is the biggest and most intense moment ever ever ever !!! ...for a few minutes.. Then they're onto something new. When your Aries Moon is flying around on fire in the heat of their emotions, sit with them and LISTEN to the experience they are having. A deep therapy for the Moon here is to be able to express their emotions to you within their personal "I" experience. They matter a lot to themselves. Hold space for this.
  • Taurus: slowww and calmmm, Apple pie and lemon balm... I've seen this placement be wonderful and disastrous.. These people are comfortable in their home, in sensual pleasures, earthly delights. In a lower context they are way too attached to the material world, they will acquire so much random stuff that they don't know what to do with themselves but they feel like they need all the stuff.. If they ever got to a moment where they needed something completely random and they didn't HAVE that random thing.. Well that would be distressing for them. While their dependence on the material world can hold them back at times, it is absolutely admirable just how deeply in touch with it they are. They take the home very seriously, they are ones who will just stay home and be grounded instead of going out and running around in life.. Like a happy bear in its cave.. Within that cave there they are listening to awesome beautiful music, making great food, working with herbs, stacking wood, loving their good company.. Why would they ever want to leave that ?? Because there's a whole world out there moon in Taurus.. A whole world:)their emotions hit them on a bodily earthly level where they process and move through the emotional realm with the help of the natural world.. A moon in Taurus needs to be connected with nature more than any other moon.. They are the grounded ass f**kers.. They are emotionally comfortable BEING grounded.. So on the flip side when they can't find grounding or comfort in their material home they are in a state of perpetual chaos..
  • Gemini: emotionally comfortable anywhere and everywhere!! As long as they're having fun and being stimulated by interesting things it's all good! Moon in gemini's really can and will talk to any sort of person. They are comfortable in any situation they are in. Moon in gemini's often have to learn how to find a home within themselves, they could be all dirty playing music on the side of the street with a nice hobo, or they could be in a rich million dollar apartment around a ton of people they don't know.. Where ever they are, they are super curious and interested in everything happening.. Happy to be there..Needing that stimulation from all things interesting.. They are very socially adaptable folk.. They know how to dissect conversation and meet people where they are at.. Which often entails them wearing a mask and not being their truest self.. Being who someone wants you to be in a situation.. It can be distressing at times once they realize how much energy they put into connecting with ones on a shallow level, it takes a lot out of them, they have to bring it back and realize.. Yes this is all fun and good but they ones who will feed my soul are the ones who KNOW my soul.. As for emotions.. It's mutable so the experience of emotions is very impacted from the rest of the chart but this conscious moon energy really rationalized and intelecualitzes emotions.. Sometimes they box their emotions up for a rainy day.. They need to learn how to let themselves feel emotions, they have emotions but they are literally capable of making themselves not feel them.. A way a moon in Gemini would relax and calm down would be through researching, chatting, and thinking about thing.. Here the moon lives within the mind. (My placement)
  • Cancer: to put it simply, uncontrollable emotional state. This is a beautiful thing.. Moon in cancers have an emotional inner world that renders a fine work of art.. So many colors. What they experience in the waters of human emotion is special and unique because the moons archetype is fully at home here.. The moon is felt deeply in this person.. There's so much beauty.. But the conflict here is that the cancer moon doesn't have control of their emotional state, so it can be really difficult to do things because their FEELINGS are first priority.. They are likely to feel more comfortable within the comfort of soft lights, warm tea, nice fireplace, and loving company. However this is fully dependent on the rest of their chart. Water signs are fluid. Maybe they are more emotionally comfortable partying and having adventure because of a Mars in Aries and a sun in Saggitarius.. no matter what influences their emotional world goes so deep. They care. They want to nurture. They FEEEEEEEL. The moon is integral for these people, its important for them to connect with the moon through ritual or meditation.. This will help balance their emotions.. Even if they don't understand it on a conscious level, creating a personal relationship with the moon will subconsciously help them with emotional balance. A moon in Cancer wants to make you feel safe. They want to take care of you and your emotions. They will give so much... Sometimes too much.
  • Leo: these ones feel comfortable in the spotlight, whether that is within an intimate relationship, their family, their social sphere, or literally on a stage.. their comfort state lies within broadcasting their life for all to see. They have a need to share everything.. they want to share themselves, share their experience, their relationships, even the clothing on their back. This moon energy is so warm and generous. In return, these ones need a lot of admiration, attention, and affection in their relationships, they need to feel validated through being so expressive or insecurity will arise. Moreso than other Leo placements, the Moon here truly needs that attention from others, their emotional state depends on it. They draw life energy through being among different influxes of energy and shining their bright creative light within it. As for emotions, they are dramatic, hopeless romantic sonnets of internal poetry for the ones they love, dramatic boisterous crying when a sharp chord is struck, or totally uncontrollable angry fire rage when provoked. A series of extremes. They must channel their emotions into creative expression, they must have people who can give them the attentiveness they need in their bouts of emotion. If you meet a Virgo Moon who does have their life in order, looks put together, has a clean organized place to live, is actively working and integrating into the structure of the world.. They are probably emotionally balanced.. And their emotions express themselves as a steady stream of relaxation due to a success of implementing order in chaos. So on the flip side.. If you meet a Virgo Moon who, to put it simply, does not have their shit together.. They are likely extremely ungrounded with their emotions scattered everywhere and nowhere living in the mercury depth of their overactive mind. A moon in Scorpio on the light side will have a deep power and capacity to have such an amazing passionate colorful emotional world. They are comfortable in the action of expansion, whether that is going to a new place, learning something, or integrating into new relationships. It's hard to emotionally pin them down. They are on the move in their fluid state. In a relationship they need some who can hold space and swim with their currents because of they are in a flux state of perpetual evolution in regards to their emotional world. Like moon in Gemini or Aries.. They are so forward directed with going towards some new energy with their emotions.. They can be flakey. With these folk there can be room for emotional shallowness. Not always, but Saggitarus is the one who wants to have fun! They are the lighthearted archers prancing through all of the parties and people and foreign lands. It is a potential challenge for them to get caught up in some dense, heavy, stagnant emotional turmoil. They don't want to experience turmoil, they want to be having a good time! However, this is a fire sign.. The heat of their emotions DOES hit them. It's not like moon in libra where intense emotions come in and immediately get brought to a neutral line of balance. No, the intensity of emotion IS there. It's a matter of them taking the time to let them go deep into uncomfortable emotions. They would rather not be concerned with uncomfortable emotional depth at all if they didn't have to. But they have to deal with it or they will totally explode into a fire ball of saggitarius aggression. Give your little moon in Saggi some space in the heat of emotional turmoil and know that with a gentle touch and soft heart they will come to a place of opening up their emotional world with you.
  • Capricorn: Emotions here are very guarded. This is a hard placement for the waters of the moon. One may even fear their emotions with this placement, they may be mechanical and cold in this sense. Their emotions will not be tolerated if it's holding them back in anyway. Their emotional comfort lies in knowing they are competently moving forward into success with their life. The feeling of having their shit together is key for emotional balance. A moon in Cap won't want to be held back due to their emotional world. This is powerfully beneficial because they can really get shit done without having to deal with any of that cancer moon emotional stuff. However unless there is water in other places in their chart.. It leaves them in a place of emotional lack. They just aren't capable of feeling to the extent that others do because they don't let themselves. And that can be a conflict in itself because maybe it would give them a deeper feeling of competence if they COULD feel how others do. They really need to feel safe and secure and sturdy before they open up their inner world to someone. You have to win their trust to get to break that shell. This placement has a lot of good potential but also an immense possibility for challenge. With any moon, especially this one, that is all correspondent to the other aspects in a chart.
  • Aquarius: Emotionally comfortable in the realms of individualism.. they like their own kind of music, their own style, their own unique "fit" into the world.. They are emotionally satisfied in their inner world of "ME". Not "me" in the bright beaming self-centered way of Leo, no, its in the sense of "I am standing here feeling so different than all of you people" Whether they find solace or distress in that.. its a deep archetype that they feel. These people are living on the outside looking in- they are extremely extremely observant. They often they feel separate and detached out in the world, observing, putting all of the pieces together like mechanical machinery. They are very interested in life, in you, in your thoughts, in why things the way they are. They are taking it all in. With their emotions they need a lot of space to process it. They can really distance themselves from their emotions and the people who are making them feel emotions. Emotions are a lot for them to intellectually grasp, they want to grasp and come to an understanding of every facet of it, and they need time on their own to do this. Theres also room with this placement for close mindedness towards other ways of doing things. There is a likely hood for these people to feel they are doing and handling things they absolute best way possible, better than anyone else, they know how to handle their emotions, their life, their inner world. Its possible for arrogance and ignorance to be found here. Maybe they do really know how to handle their inner world better than how you think they can..... But also maybe... They really could use a word of advice. Theres a rigidness to this moon placement. These people find self-justified satisfaction in doing things exactly the way they think they should do it, it eases their emotional realm. There is room for complacency in arrogance here as their is room for extremely positive inner innovation and evolution of self.
  • Pisces: Your inner world is the ocean. Where does it begin? Where does it end? You don't know, actually, no one knows. Your emotions are the definition of fluid. Interchangeable and uncontrollable. You are melting into your emotions. When you fall in love, you FALL in LOVE. When you feel sorrow, you FEEL sorrrrrrowww. Emotions are so real for you. You feel your emotions in your blood. Your emotional world is operating in the dreamstate. You are comfortable in ethereal experiences, the surreal beauty of nature, the most amazing poem recited at a word slam, looking deep into the eyes of your lover. Life just holds a more surreal note for you. When you feel emotionally comfortable, every single particle of who you are integrates into a peace and calm of giving everything to the moment of emotional comfort. When you feel emotionally uncomfortable, red sirens are going off in your being, everything is viciously not okay. You might have issues with boundaries, you let people in so deep into your emotional realm and you share so much. Yet, when you draw a boundary, you aggressively instate it into being. You want what you want, you may disregard what is good for you, or you may draw every boundary in the book to make sure whats happening is good for you. No matter what situation you're in- good or bad, you're in it for the feeling, for the essence, the energy. Moon in Pisces will bring you into a different world.

     So I think it’s time this fandom had a sit-down and talked some things out. Today’s topic: ableism. Before all of y’all start jumping on me and dismissing me and trying to say I have no right to talk about this, let me tell you a bit about myself.

     I was born with spina bifida. For those of you that don’t know that is, it’s when a baby’s spinal chord and nerves don’t develop properly. I had my first surgery to help this condition when I was eight days old. The excess amount of scar tissue in my lower back had begun to wrap around my spinal chord, which for obvious reasons is dangerous. I had the same surgery when I was four years old, and that’s when my life changed forever. I’d been able to walk before using a leg brace, but due to a mistake by the surgeon, my left leg was left paralyzed. I was a normal (and I hate using the word normal here, normal is an absolutely useless construct of society, but for lack of a better word at the moment, bear with me) kid, mobile and able to move around as I pleased, and then I couldn’t. I’ve been using a wheelchair since then. I’m not telling you guys this because I want pity. I don’t. I’ve accepted it as part of my life, and I love myself just the way I am. This little explanation is here so you guys can understand exactly where I’m coming from when you read the rest of this post. So with all this in mind, here goes my not-so-little rant.

     DISCLAIMER: I will be calling people out in this post and tagging them because I am done. 1000%, completely fucking done with this fandom. And if this causes a shitstorm, fuck it, because this needs to be said and this fandom needs to learn to stop being hypocritical pieces of crap.

     I love these books. I love Sarah’s writing in general,  and I would read literally anything she wrote. These books, Aelin’s story, Feyre’s story, are so important to me. I don’t have words to describe how much they mean to me. I love talking about them and healthy and constructive conversations about them. And some of the jokes that have been made  by the fandom are some of favorites. I’ve made some of them myself. I’ll joke alongside all of you about wingspans and gold nightgowns for as long as you want.

     I want to make something perfectly clear: this rant is in no way a reflection of my thoughts about her books. This post is exclusively about the fandom’s disgusting behavior.

     So let’s start with this post that I saw earlier.



     Disability is not kinky.

     For those of you that can’t understand that, let me repeat it.

     Disability is not kinky.

     DISABILITY. IS. NOT. KINKY.

     This whole post is horrifyingly ableist. And before you guys start claiming that “I have disabled relatives, I can’t be ableist!” (@rowan-stole-my-heart, I’m looking at you. Remember that conversation last year? Nice to know you’re still disgusting), that’s like saying “I have African-American friends, therefore I can’t be racist!”, which is such an inherently flawed line of arguing that it would require a whole other post to address, so I’ll just say don’t try it. I can’t even begin to fathom the mental process all of these people went through to think that this was even remotely acceptable in any way, shape, or form, so let me break this down and explain to you why this isn’t.

     This, my horrifyingly inconsiderate friends, is a form of fetishism. According to the Merriam-Webster dictionary, fetishism is the pathological displacement of erotic interest and satisfaction to a fetish. Now that you know what that is, let’s move on.

     This whole fandom has been complaining about a lack of diversity in Sarah’s books since I joined the fandom. Diversity doesn’t just mean POC, which is exactly what this fandom conveniently forgets. Diversity includes POC, people with mental illness, people with physical disability, LGBT+ people, and so much more. And when Sarah finally adds someone who embodies a slice of that diversity, you all have the gall to reduce his situation to sex jokes. All I can say is how dare you. How dare you reduce someone’s life and reality to a kink, to something to be made fun of, to something that spices up your dash and makes it NSFW just because you wanted to make fun of a book cover you probably weren’t satisfied with. In doing so you are insulting the thousands upon thousands of people that are in the same situation. You’re reducing them – reducing me – to a fantasy that you can use and then dismiss the next moment, without regard for anyone’s feelings. Do you have any idea how difficult of a topic sex is for people with disabilities? We are laughed at for wanting sex. Our anxiety when it comes to that is ten times that of any able-bodied person, simply because we don’t fit into the box that society wants to shove everyone into. And you’re making it that much worse because you have the audacity to think the fact that someone can’t move their legs is funny.

     It hurts. Reading that post hurt like hell. Because in your eyes – in society’s eyes – people like me aren’t human. We’re just something to ride, right? Yeah, I didn’t miss that little gem of a comment, @readinglikewildfire.

     And because I know this is coming, no, Chaol isn’t just a character.

     But you know what, I get it. It’s just sex, right? A small joke made, no harm done.

     Wrong.

     You’re perpetuating yet another harmful concept cooked up by a disgustingly ableist society. Sorry, but your privilege and utter ignorance are showing. I will concede a bit and agree that we can treat fiction for what it is – something that isn’t real – up to a certain point. But you guys just crossed a line. For those of you saying that you feel guilty for laughing, you absolutely fucking should, because this shit isn’t funny.

     The fact is if that post had been making fun of race or mental illness, then the fandom would have ripped these people to shreds and they would have been reported many, many times over. But it’s not, and instead I can count on my fingers the number of people that stood up to say this was wrong, because it’s just another wheelchair joke, right? Who cares? To those that did, I thank you from the bottom of my heart, especially @throne-of-omg-the-feels and @midnight-wonder.​ It’s nice to know there’s still some hope for humanity left. And to @nerdperson524, I agree with you. People do need a laugh, even those that live their lives stuck in chairs. But that post? It’s downright offensive.

     So that’s it. I’m done blowing things out of proportion, as some of you will say. If you think I should have approached you privately and messaged you about this instead of publicly calling you out, then maybe, just maybe, you shouldn’t have PUBLICLY insulted mocked degraded an entire subset of the human population. And maybe that makes me a bad person. It certainly means I’m not being the bigger person. And I could honestly care less. I am tired. So sick and tired of constantly being the bigger person, of just staying quiet when I see things like this because what’s the use? The entire world is filled with this shit and it’s not like I can fight every time I see this kind of injustice. Nothing’s going to change, no matter what I do. But this? This is where I draw the line. Congratulations.

School stress, exams, strained friendships, endless days of unexplainable loneliness and fatique plagued your teen life. It feels so small in comparison to all the problem of the world, yet why do you feel so suffocated?

“How are you doing, little bird?” Zen falters a bit when he notices your tears, but he doesn’t comment on it. You wonder how he has managed to pick up on your sour mood when you have been nothing but jokes and memes that afternoon. ‘Brother senses tingling’ probs. “Wanna come with me? we can buy some junk food, or something nice. I dunno. Up to you.” He winks and you smile, sluggishly crawling out of bed. You two eat shit food and fishbread, joking until you could smile again without feeling guilty for having fun. 

You come to school the next morning to find your favourite teacher explaining that Zen has contacted them regarding the hard time you are having. After some negotiation with your other teachers, you have gotten extra time on some assignments and offers for extra tutoring if you need it.

  • When she was first diagnosed, he took the time to research everything so he’d get an idea of what she’s going through.
  • He comes to personally pick her up after her sessions because he knows it’s often the time she’s most vulnerable. Also, he gets to give her psychiatrists/therapists The Glare to make sure they’re still on their A-game.

The company’s New Year party is getting a bit too loud and you regret agreeing to come along. Your stylist, friends and brother had assured you that you look great, but every glance your way sent a wave of panic through you. Have you sat on something and stained your designer dress? Did you smear your lipstick across your face and is unknowingly walking around, looking like a clown? Are you slouching too much? Talking too little? Walking too awkwardly??

Your older brother stands on a podium, giving a casual speech with a glass of champagne in hand and you wonder— how? How could he do it like that? Look like that? Be the face of the company at such a young age, while you cling desperately to anything, anything, floundering and grasping for some sort of footing in life? He suddenly catches your eye and smiles at you. “I’d also like to thank my little sister for coming tonight,” he adds and you look down, smiling timidly. Despite everything, the hidden words ring between the both of you. “Let’s toast to the new year, everyone.”

You end up leaving early at Jumin’s insistence after you briefly commented that you are feeling a bit jittery and light-headed. “Get an early rest,” he tells you after escorting you out to the car. “Hug Elizabeth for me. I’ll be home late.” Later on, when you are safely tucked in bed with a happy feline in your arm, you find a text from Jumin. “You looked great tonight. I’m proud of you.” Attached with a picture:

So, this is a serious art-related question I've been wanting to ask an artist with lots experience that I know I can trust and learn from. I hope you don't mind me asking, but do you think that being able to draw realistic portraits of people is a necessity for all artists to learn, even if they draw cartoons? To me, drawing realistic people is no fun compared to drawing cartoons, which is why I ask. I seriously want to be a cartoonist and have no clue how that will affect this.

Drawing portraits of people is not life drawing, so no you don’t have to be perfect at that. Heck, I’m not perfect at it and I actually avoid drawing people I know because I worry about what they would think.

However, life drawing and gesture drawing IS necessary. It helps you understand how the body works, how much movement certain parts of the body can make, and how far you can push that movement before it becomes unrealistic. Some cartoons push movement and poses to the extreme, like Looney Tunes, but I can guarantee that the artists who worked on those took life drawing lessons as well. Because even to push your characters like that, you need to know if it will look believable.

Life drawing or gesture drawing is honestly not the funnest thing for me to do either, but it’s needed. Not everything about drawing or becoming a professional artist is going to be fun or easy. I have an instructor who told us last night at class that as he grew up, he didn’t believe using references or a model was the right way to learn to draw. He called it cheating, or copying, so he would practice making things up in his mind with his imagination. He’s freakin amazing at getting poses right, but he told us he took the tougher way to do it. Even now he won’t go to life drawing. So for some, it works (in the long run), but your art will definitely benefit from it.

Remember, becoming a cartoonist or anything in this field is just like any other job; it’s not all fun. But the harder stuff becomes easier if you practice.

What exactly is an OC? I know what fandom OCs are (I've had my own just for something fun and personal to draw while still being related to a franchise I love), but I don't think I get the concept of OCs that aren't from a fandom? Are they from a story you write or.. I just can't wrap my head around it? (They sound fun so I want to understand, I just don't understand some of my friends who have OCs and don't do anything with them)

An OC (original character) is just a person you have invented. That is all you need to have an OC. You don’t need a story or reason to have them.

Sometimes you do it just for the design, sometimes just for the mental exercise of creating quirks and personalities, sometimes for a story, sometimes you like playing with character interaction.

They’re just for fun, you don’t need a ‘reason’ for them.

Dear Endling, I've been a huge fan since I saw your comics on Snafu. I'm struggling, and have been for awhile. Art is my passion, but I don't have the right education to pursue a career in it. I've been unable to find my style, and have been stuck for a year. Do you have any advice on where I can read/study to improve my skills to eventually, find my own style?

  This is a question I’ve been asked a lot, but to be honest it never really gets that much easier to answer. Every artist being an individual, it’s tough to find catch-alls that work for everyone, you know what I  mean? And hell, truth be told, I’m still trying to figure this stuff out for myself. :]

  Let me get this first bit out of the way, the bit nobody wants to hear: “Practice, practice, practice.” It’s the biggest, stinkiest old chestnut in the book, the one you’ve probably heard a million times before, but unfortunately, it is the most rock solid, time-tested advice any artist can swear by. Even when you feel down and out, even when things don’t look like they should. You keep on drawing, because art has a funny way of growing with you, even if you’re not aware of it. 

 But try different things. Some personal suggestions:

- Draw from life. Do figure studies. Your art will only go as far as the strong foundation you’ve built on. It can be arduous, but it is worth it. There is no way around this, much as many folks find this the token ‘boring’ advice.

- Look up light and color theory online. Nowadays there is a ridiculous amount of information on this subject on the internet. You could probably cobble together a near full education on the subject just from all the different people who have guides, examples, even youtube videos on the matter. It’s really amazing. There are tons of people out there trying to help young artists get on their feet, and they aren’t charging a thin dime. Take advantage of it. :]

- Warm up before you draw! Draw scribbles, cubes, shapes with some zing to them. Drawing can be a workout! So like any workout, warm up! Don’t dive right in and injure yourself. :] It’s a good way to stave off feeling discouraged because things  didn’t turn out looking brilliant right off the bat. 

- Try emulating a variety of other artists’ work. (With their consent if you’re posting it somewhere of course.) Sometimes when drawing in someone else’s style your own little mannerisms and stylistic influences tend to pop up in the result. This is more a fun exercise though, certainly not something to fall back on as a means to improve. You don’t want to end up relying on the same artistic 'shortcuts’ your chosen artists employ in their own work without a firm understanding of the basics yourself.

- Draw quickly, loosely, even carelessly. Less thought, more winging it. Fly by the seat of them pants. Have fun letting go! At least, for a practice run at first. While 'style’ is at best a nebulous concept, I’ve always found that if you draw speedily, you tend to put emphasis in certain areas, sort of feel your hand moving a particular way? If you don’t let too much thought get in the way, you can sometimes see the raw tendencies you have underneath the art. 

- Animation! Regarding stuff to read to improve your skills, there is no shortage of books available in places like Barnes & Noble. Entire sections on art. I recommend, personally, books on animation techniques. I was originally an animation major in college, and I think any artist can benefit greatly by studying it thoroughly. 

- Draw for yourself, not for the internet. This is a more fairly recent issue I’ve been seeing with some people, but there are folks out there who get a little too attached to the reception (or lack thereof) they receive for posting their work online, or worse still, seem to only draw with the specific intent of putting things online. While it’s all well and good to share your work with other people, please please please do not forget that you are drawing for yourself. You don’t have to post everything you make. Allow yourself plenty of time to make plenty of terrible drawings. Fall flat on your face. You can share the stuff you’d like, but you don’t have to feel compelled to share everything you do.

- Art blocks and burn out will happen. Don’t sweat 'being stuck’ so much. Don’t rush getting OUT of it either. Art blocks are kind of a way of telling you you’re running on empty in one way or another. I’ve gotten asked quite often what I do to get over an art block. The answer is really simple: wait. Haha. But you find things to do that get you feeling charged up again. I like listening to music and playing games. Games are what got me into art in the first place, so it’s kind of a back-and-forth process for me. But what I’m trying to say here is, art and your life are pretty much connected in every way. If your art just doesn’t want to come out easily on the page, maybe you should find something else to do that you enjoy. Refill, recharge, re-energize, but NOT just to get over an art block. Your daily life might be more attached to your work than you realize. Which brings me to my next point..

- Don’t look so hard for 'your style’. You need to grow as much as your artwork. As I said before, style is kind of a strange subject. To most people style is simply 'how your art looks’, what sets it apart from other folks. But if you ask me, style is whatever ignites your passion to create in the first place. Style can be influenced by other art, sure, but it can also be influenced by music, games, sports, books, your background, the things you enjoy, just the person you are from the ground up. Style comes from pouring yourself into your work. And you know what? You need to grow just as much as your artwork. If you put a piece of yourself into your art, it will undoubtedly be unique, because you’re a unique person yourself. Find something you want to say and let it come out through your art.

And yes, that’s about the floweriest answer I’ve ever given on the subject of style. I guess when it comes to the subject of art I can be a sappy sap. But DAMMIT I BELIEVE IN YOU. And anyone else reading this that might have been feeling the same way! And I really appreciate the question! Hell, I’m honored, and hope in any way at all I can help, because art is a beautiful thing to have in your life, and I wish you the absolute best of luck with it.

The end of his cigarette lights up a vibrant crimson as he listens to you explain what the term means; he’s never heard it before, but then again, there’s a lot he doesn’t know about the world.  You seem nervous explaining it, he notices, his single golden eyelight focused on your expression.  When you pause, he slowly blows out the smoke, drawing the cigarette away from his teeth to flick the ashes off to the side.  

“so what you’re sayin’ is that you don’t wanna bone unless you have feelings for someone, right?”  He drops the cigarette and grinds it beneath his boot, before stepping forward and cupping your cheek.  The intensity of his stare has never wavered–and neither has the cocky smirk on his face.  “that’s fine with me.  i’m not looking to jump your bones immediately.”  He shrugs a shoulder.  “i didn’t ask ya out for a one-night stand, kiddo.  i wanted to get to know you better, spend time together.”

He leans in, his teeth just a breath away from your lips, and his gaze still holding your own.  

“’sides, i’ve been told i have a magnetic personality, so… i’m not worried.”

Gaster:

“Ah, yes, I understand that term.  There are some that seek to… copulate with someone, regardless of how well they know them, or their feelings, but…”  He sets down his coffee mug, adjusting his lab coat as he steps closer to you.  “I’m not one of them.”  It just wasn’t something that drove him–especially considering all that he endured.  He hadn’t come back from the Void entirely whole.  His right eyesocket was droopy, his smile permanently pulled up higher on one side, and his mind…

He shook his skull slightly to clear it.  He had more important things to think of than the bone zone, but when he had met you… well, he had become simply smitten!  It had been much too long since he’d had the opportunity for companionship, so he had taken to courting you.  And your admission now, the way you said it… It seemed as if you were frightened he would walk away.  

“My dear, it’s fine if you don’t want to rattle these old bones.”  His lop-sided smile hitches higher in amusement.  “We’re an inter-species couple, so I’m not traditionally what humans desire, just as you’re not something monsters are used to seeing, either.”  He steps closer yet, stopping directly before you, his smile becoming tender.  He reaches out and touches your chin with his index finger, lifting your head ever-so-slightly.  His eyelights hold your gaze, and his voice is steady and even.  “But, should we get to know one another–connect and establish an emotional bond, perhaps even love… then whether or not you feel any sort of attraction to me now and vice-versa doesn’t matter.  I’m not going anywhere, my dear.”

I don't know if this is a proper question but personally I've seen tons of posts commenting the mental state of bakugou and how he's a mess....but I don't see a lot of posts about how Izuku (or really any meta on him in gen) has been affected by bakugou verbal and physical abuse and how he over came that but how it was still damaging for him to have to endure it for 10 stinken years with no help from any one with authority

Don’t worry Anon; it’s called ask but really, it doesn’t need to be questions, just exchanging opinions and talking about BNHA is fun and interesting. So thank you for this one. And beware of the long answer coming through.

I think the reason why Bakugou get a lot more of meta is because he’s a really complex character; he’s inspiring, because he’s passionate and possess incredible abilities in fights, but he has a terrible attitude, and even an abusive one, so people are torn; should they love him or hate him? What sides of him should they privilege over the other? I haven’t been on tumblr and BNHA fandom for that long, but I already saw how his character could divide people; some will overprotect him, others will heavily criticize him and tell how dangerous he is. Those two extremes can’t be help, people will appropriate this character differently depending on their own experience and beliefs. Meta is interesting because it breaks that Manichean wall and goes in further to grasp the complexity of this character, because there are actual reasons as to why he’s behaving the way he does, and it’s more interesting, and in my opinion more fair to the manga and Hori, to try and understand what’s really going on behind the curtains. Bakugou is a difficult character to look objectively through, thus we spend so much time writing meta. You can’t really help but be drawn to things you don’t understand and try to make sense out of it, at least when you’re curious, but that’s the case of a lot of people and that’s where meta comes in. And that’s why so many people are trying to make their ideas come together to try and grasp this character the best they can, myself included. In the same way, a lot of meta has been going on around Kirishima lately, for the same reasons. We can feel something is going on behind curtains, so we’re trying to look for answers because it makes us curious. It’s interesting.

As to Midoriya now, he is the main character, so there are actually less part of his environment and character that are hidden, hard to understand and need to be analyzed through meta. The only shred of mystery surrounding him would be his family and/or is link to One for All and All for One in my opinion. All Might said his mother looked like Nana, the previous owner of One for All, and we don’t know what his father looks like so there are maybe theories that can be made, but there are still not enough hints to do that. His relationship with Shigaraki Tomura would deserve a good meta (I have no idea if someone already made it) but there is still not enough content to draw satisfying conclusions. As to meta about his character, we’re more or less constantly in Midoriya’s head, and he’s already really honest with himself so there isn’t that much to ‘look through’. He doesn’t dwell long on issues that comes to him, while both Bakugou and Kirishima are still shackled by the same mindset they had since their childhood ’I’m still not good enough, I’m weak, I need to be stronger or I’m just a worthless burden and won’t achieve anything’. Those complexes and anxiety make it difficult to be honest and look objectively at themselves, and consequently, make it hard to move on and improve.

The thing is, Midoriya doesn’t have any inferiority complex, and doesn’t show sign of mental health issues. He’s a stable character who’s steadily improving and overcoming at a good pace everything that’s thrown to him because he’s very quick on his feet and is eager to face challenges. Just look how much he improved in such a short time, between UA entrance exam and sports festival.

He’s been bullied by Bakugou, but his convictions are so strong they’re not affected by what not only Bakugou but the whole society told him as a quirkless individual. Even All Might told him he should give up at the very beginning, but still, he went and decided to do things his own way, because helping others is in his nature. Also, Midoriya has known Bakugou for years; he looks up to him but is also aware of his personality so he doesn’t take it personally, as Bakugou behaves that way towards everyone. He got a special treatment because he was quirkless and perceived as weak, but Bakugou is aggressive towards everyone, so, yeah, Midoriya is aware of this awful attitude of his and doesn’t take it personally. If he’d been so irrationally afraid of Bakugou, it would have reflected on his social ability and self-esteem, which is not the case, as he made friends, can establish good relationships with everyone and isn’t afraid to stand up for himself and others ; he never was in the first place, but was afraid of Bakugou’s powers until he had his own powers to stand equally in front of him.

It’s not that Midoriya is over what Bakugou did, forgave him and moved on. They still need to talk about it, but nothing Midoriya says come across Bakugou, because he’s still not ready to have that kind of conversation. He’s still dealing with too much issues himself and isn’t mature enough yet to take a step back and apologize. Everything Bakugou did was damaging to Midoriya in a way that now, he’s grateful for people support, kindness and attention because it’s not natural for him, but apart from that, he’s doing pretty well. After all, he’s the one who helped Todoroki during UA sports festival, Iida during Stain Arc, Kouta during Training Camp Arc, went to save Bakugou with Kirishima and others during Kamino Arc, and even now he’s trying to save Eri. You can’t help anyone if you can’t help yourself in the first place, and the fact that he can just show he’s stable and comfortable with himself so he can provide support to others.

Midoriya is mentally incredibly strong, he’s got the same mental fortitude Tsuyu has, and it’s an important ability of his. He’s able to think and take decisions very quickly, adapt and shift his position in any fights because he spent a lot of time thinking how to improve and what to do rather that venting about his abilities and convincing himself he was already the best the way he was (only to be proven wrong later and be damaged by that realization, like Bakugou). At most, if he’s frustrated towards something, it’s himself. He’s not looking down on himself, like Bakugou and Kirishima do, but he’s rationally analyzing his mistakes and doing his best to improve. Midoriya is someone who is always looking forward, thinking ahead of things, and planning how he’ll keep going. He’s genuinely impressed by others but doesn’t feel threatened and never let it weights on him; it’s even the contrary. Unlike Bakugou, Midoriya takes challenges head on and is actually excited to overcome them and do his best to improve. 

He’s not that interested in proving himself to be better than others because what he’s craving for is ’saving people with a fearless smile’ while Bakugou wants to be the best and surpass everyone. As their objectives differ, the pressure they’re putting on their own shoulders aren’t the same either. Bakugou is dealing with too much pressure as he’s always comparing himself to others, when there is no way to be strong like All Might when you’re only fifteen. On the other hand, Midoriya wants to put his mind to work and save others, so he’s not emotionally implied in being ahead of everyone like Bakugou, and doesn’t even consider others as a threat, so mentally speaking, the weight is just not the same.

While Bakugou has been ‘the one everyone, himself included, expected great things from’, Midoriya was ‘the one nobody, except himself, expected a thing from’. That predisposition made them evolve very differently, mentally and emotionally. Now that Midoriya inherited One for All, he’s just over the moon because he was finally given, by the Symbol of Peace himself, a chance to show what he’s made of, when Bakugou took even more pressure on himself when he realized he wasn’t the only amazing one at UA. If we don’t see that much meta on Midoriya it’s because he’s now defined by much more things that his past and relationship with Bakugou, while Bakugou is still defining himself by the same issues since the beginning and it’s still weighting him down. While one is ready to address the issue and improve, the other is still chained up to his old self, and we need to understand that through meta if we want to treat this character fairly. Which is obviously less easy than it is for Midoriya. So take all of that and you’ll understand why Bakugou get so much more attention and meta than Midoriya. If you’re looking for a Midoriya’s appreciation (and kinda meta) post, I’m gonna link this one ask I answered on why I love Midoriya, or this one where I wrote about what his relationship with Bakugou illustrates from their society where worth is defined by ‘ability’ and quirks, and the lack of reaction from any kind of authority.

Bakugou really spread discord among the fandom, so that’s why he’s getting more attention and meta, while Midoriya creates more consensus. As I don’t see people disagree or tell things obviously not thought through much about Midoriya, I don’t particularly feel like I need to butt in and reestablish some kind of fair approach on him. It’s just a sign that he’s doing well and everyone agree to recognize his abilities, which is great.

hi! i'm really sorry if you've been asked this before, but i was wondering, as an artist how did you find your style? like for a person that is interested in learning how to draw, should they start by trying to draw realistically and at what point should they try to draw in a way that is just their own? if they use other artists as references isn't it possible that they'll just end up developing a style too similar? what was your process? thanks!

I feel like you’re asking the wrong person here (I’m very sorry ;;) as you might see i /heavily/ lack of a coherent art style…

All of these have different coloring and lining I doubt they would be recognized as mine if you found them without knowing the author/signature on them

I basically do whatever I feel like doing and i’m /constantly/ changing this, that, trying this new brush, but also this new type of lineart, but now bigger eyes, smaller noses, more realistic bodies-less realistic bodies… However several months ago someone brought up a very similar question and when I replied with ‘i’m so much of a temperamental artist my butt can’t be quiet in the same style for long’ i got an anon saying the art style is not the formal features of your drawings, but the content of it, the understanding you have of the world which reflects on your art. I think this input was very smart, and very truthful. That made me realize- after being for a year very angry with my own art- i don’t really need to be coherent in formal features. I don’t like it. I like art!! to be an adventure!! To draw whatever, to try anything and making mistakes!!! Being incoherent can play a huge disadvantage on my artistic career but!! Talent is the longest trip!!!!, we must enjoy it!! I find that, at the end, the matter is not about finding an art style but finding what works for you. Art is also an introspective journey, the better you know yourself the better you know what you can improve and what you can use. To get some stability and coherence in your skill, if you lack of spatiality don’t try to draw huge ass super detailed backgrounds? Mm… like… I had a huge breakdown regarding art this year, I didn’t know what I wanted, how I wanted it, why my art was like that, where i was going with this… So I forced myself to start from scratch some things I had assumed as absolute (= body has to follow canon, coloring has to fit inside the lines, there has to be harmonic coherence in the palette, a mistake shows you don’t know how to art) and determined what my art currently had and the values I liked in other art styles. I think my art holds a very important photographic component, I wanted to keep that but with everything looking more delicate, so I have been trying to get there…


So my advice is that you throw out of the window every insecurity you have about the lacks in your art and analyze what it is that you like to draw, and why, and how, and where you found something similar in other artist, and what it is they have that it makes you like their art this much, apply it, twist it, experiment, have fun! It doesn’t matter if your anatomy, coloring, composition aren’t correct as long as it looks coherent put together. And slowly you will start understanding better what you’re doing and how, the tools you’re using, how you could improve, what else you could add…  (㇏(•̀w•́)ノ)

How was the concert? Did you have fun? Tell me all the juicy bits how are they live? I'm sure I'll never see them cause Bighit hates Europe and I'm even more sure that if they do come they don't know abt Eastern Europe so I still won't be able to go :/

Dude…. It was amazing. And I really hope European ARMY gets to experience it some time soon! It was a really different experience from the TRB Dallas, mostly because I was so much closer last time, but this time I was p2 and I got to see all the choreo and shit but I was still close enough to feel close and it was just…. amazing. I want to write up a full fan account later but right now I’m just gonna list the top things I remember about each of the boys:

Kook: God. His solo stage was fucking remarkable. His footwork his voice his moves just. He is such an entertainer, he’s so superhuman. We had pretty good view of his thigh girth from our seats and it, too, was remarkable…. Jenny’s words, not mine….. He also followed Jin’s lead and stole an army bomb, but instead of sweetly returning it like Jin, he pretended to drop it like a little imp butt because he’s a fucking imp butt. When Jimin said “Did you like it?” his little “I liked it” was the cutest thing I have ever heard and I squealed and fell to the floor, he is just precious and talented and adorable. A complete dork, the hottest dork. 

Yoongi: Um just like fucking fire. Just. fire. His Cypher verse was immaculate, I’m talking full virgin birth immaculate, and his solo stage was fucking POWERFUL man. It was so emotional and powerful and I was like legit moved by him. He also dropped it low. He is so tiny and so beautiful and so fucking talented it hurts me. Fun fact: my little sister got drenched in Father Yoongi’s holy water during Cypher. 

Jin: Stunning. Charismatic. Hilarious. Talented. His solo was another world man. I think he actually had my favorite voice live?? Which I wasn’t expecting because last time it was Baby J but….. wow. Fucking stunning. He blew at least 4 kisses and stole 2 army bombs, one regular one, then one pink one when we did the rainbow ocean. He looked so polite and charming when he was asking the girl for them. He just looked happy and carefree and UGH just perfect. 

Taehyung: SHIT MAN HIS HIGH NOTES that’s right, this deep subterranean voiced motherfucker was SLAYING HIS FUCKING high notes during his solo like WOW it was better live than you can imagine. Probably the best high notes of the concert. And it seemed like he was throwing some extra ones in there.  He also LOVED to tease the crowd, like squat down and make cute faces at the fans. His charisma while dancing was off the charts, he goes from zero to too intense in 1 sec flat. There were eyebrows. 

Jimin: It’s really hard to understand the POWER in his dance until you see it live. He is….. he’s something else. His every move, every pause, every breath is just brimming with potential energy, he THROWS himself into the dances, you’ve never seen anything like it. He is a born performer. Even when he’s not dancing or singing, he’s performing. His voice is so clear and lovely. He started the concert with his hair all nicely combed down like a nice little fringe but by the end, he had done that thing where he ran his fingers through it to the point where it was off his forehead. He did this thing where he liked to gaze off all seriously into the crowd and probably give some poor fan a heart attack by looking straight into their souls. Rude as shit, always found a way to make every move a little bit nasty. Perfect, stunning, small. 

Hobi: …. I could not take my eyes off of him. I could not. First of all not only is he the most beautiful person I have ever seen in front of my eyes, but he is just….. his on-stage charisma is second to none. When he’s dancing, he’s still engaging the audience, he’s smiling, he’s just…. fuck I don’t even know how to describe it. He draws you in. He is by far, for me, the most comprehensively amazing live performer. His singing? Fucking amazing. Mama killed me. It was perfect. He knows how to work an audience, man. Ruder than Jimin even, always throwing in extra little rolls and thrusts, but you can’t even be mad at him, because he is HUMAN SUNSHINE and you know what I know we call him that all the time, I know that’s like his thing, but at this concert, I felt it, I felt happier just looking at him. I can’t… describe him. He’s just. The closest thing to magic that this dreary world has to offer. 

Namjoon: I…… I don’t even really know…. how to articulate…. any of this. Full disclosure I have been having a slow motion Kim Namjoon meltdown since summer 2015 but… this concert was the culmination of all of that. Arguably the most emotional moment of the concert was his solo stage. And listen, I was not even a huge fan of Reflection before this, like it was great and all but it was one of the ones I skipped over on the album. But he… jesus he just. He fucking felt this shit. He felt what he was saying, and I felt it, and every time he said ‘I wish I could love myself,’ the crowd shouted ‘we love you’ and fuck i have never felt so bonded with that many thousands of fucking people. It was this giant cohesive emotional moment and it was transcendent. I’m pretty sure he also found a way to make the rainbow crowd like a statement about racial equality, just the most philosophical beautiful asshole you’ve ever met. When the crowd got rowdy and people were getting hurt, he stopped everything and said, “no pushing please, safety is the most important thing” and would not proceed until there was order. He talked to the crowd like he was talking to friends, he was never full of himself or condescending, despite their immense undeniable success, like he was just so genuine and thankful, and as soon as he walked off that stage, I immediately missed him. He has utterly ruined human beings for me and I am honestly so fucked.

my dear friend!!! I didn’t read a lot of theories, tbh, but I scoured the net and the official voltron site says Keith became an orphan “at a young age before enlisting in the Galaxy Garrison”. Do they mean he enlisted right after or…? For how long has he lived alone in that shack? Or did someone find him and drag him to the Garrison a la Anakin Skywalker? Oooh, I like this one (even though it’s unlikely, but let me dream).
Imagine a random officer finding by chance a kid, Commander, in a shack in the middle of the desert, all alone!, and subsequently dragging him back to the only civilized place in the entire goddamned desert: luxury school for marvelous minds, the one and only Galaxy Garrison. Imagine the kid being confusedly adopted by the whole team, professors and students alike, coddled and looked after by everyone because the poor thing has big, serious eyes and he never talks much, but he’s bright and asks just the right questions, paddling in between their feet in the simulation room, peeking at screens and stats, unrelentlessly curious about what’s this and that and how does this work? Imagine everyone humoring him, why not, it’s harmless fun, and it’s cute, but then - years later, the kid grows into a stubborn young man, who refuses to hear reasons about required classes and official bullshit. “I learned everything I need to, let me pilot the thing already,” he states plainly, for the hundredth time, until someone finally says what the hell, let him do it - and he’s good, a natural pilot, graceful and in control even without training.
So Commander Iverson lets him enroll officially, he has no reason not to, and the kid starts to train for real, climbing the ranks like it’s nothing - and everyone knows him, it’s Keith, he practically always lived here.

Fast forward to drama, pain, and finding himself with the universe’s destiny on the shoulders, piloting a giant robot lion, Keith has never really thought about his birthday. He simply never had the time or will to, because what’s a date to all the numbers he’s had to drill into his head to become what he is right know?

Hi, I'm new and I don't know what the right way to read tarot cards is. Is it better to memorize all the card meanings or just look at the picture and make something up?

Well the most important thing to remember is that there is no right way to read tarot cards!

I started off reading a bunch of books that “taught” tarot, and to be honest, I did find these very, very helpful. I know people always say, and you see it/hear it everywhere - to just go with your intuition and don’t rely too heavily on what the books say, and I think that is amazing advice for someone who is not an absolute beginner! But when you’re starting out that can seem a bit daunting.

When I first looked at a tarot deck I had no idea what any of the cards could even potentially mean, let alone what “trust your intuition” meant, and it was all very overwhelming and possibly discouraging to just try and figure it out on my own. So I studied the traditional meanings of the cards (learntarot.com and the book by Joan Bunning are the best resources I can recommend! Oh, and biddytarot.com for online card meanings as well!) I made a tarot journal where I wrote down keywords, took point form notes on each card, its symbolism, divination meaning, associations, etc., as well as the feeling I got from looking at it, and situations in my life that I could relate to it.

That took a really long time. I’m a nerd so I thoroughly enjoy note-taking and studying, so it was actually super fun for me, but I understand how it may not be for others. All I can say is, it helped me learn and get familiar with the cards in a way nothing else could for me. Maybe there’s a way that works better for you - flashcards? Record yourself talking about each one and listen to the recordings? Just speak it aloud to yourself? Draw each of the cards in your own style? Basically, the idea is to familiarize yourself with the structure of the tarot, and what energy each card typically represents in whatever way works for you and will cause you to remember them!

Once you do THAT, then you can expand a bit! I’ve found that slowly, over time, I’ve relied less and less on the “correct” interpretations, and more on my intuition. I have a general idea now of what all the cards mean, and when I pull one, I can have a sense of what it’s telling me in that particular spread, position, and moment. I still reference my notes, and sometimes just the keywords because they’ll spark an idea in my head. I look a lot more at the imagery on the card now, than I did in the beginning, to get a feeling for what it’s trying to tell me.

The thing is, there are so many subtleties in each card, there’s no real correct interpretation of any of them. There are often multiple energies and keywords associated with a card - that’s the part where you and your intuition come in! 

But I will say if you’re new, and you’re still learning, don’t worry too much about doing things the “right way” or even a particular way that me or anyone else recommends. This is just how I learned, and what worked for me. You could give it a shot and see if this works for you as well, or you could make up your own method :)

I've noticed that ouma gets REALLY agitated whenever people other than himself lie, why do you think this is?

It’s because Ouma knows he’s a giant hypocrite and he’s full of self-loathing and he doesn’t want the rest of the group to be hypocrites like him.

Jokes that aren’t entirely jokes aside, it really does come down to the fact that he’s good at lying but doesn’t necessarily like having to do it, I think. As we know, Ouma steps into the villain role and maintains an antagonistic façade for most of ndrv3. And he does a spectacular job at it, and he’s certainly talented at lying through his teeth and acting as though he’s having the time of his life in such a horrible killing game even though he hates it with a passion. But that doesn’t mean it was something he liked having to do necessarily.

For the most part, Ouma certainly prefers “gentle lies.” If his speech to the rest of the group in the middle of the Chapter 4 trial is anything to go off, he clearly believes lies can be used for people’s benefit. Unlike the “single unchanging truth” which is often harsh and cruel and not something people actually want to know, lies present “endless possibilities,” as he says. To put it in Umineko terms, since I’m always talking about Umineko here anyway, lies are “magic.” And that magic is often used by people to comfort themselves from the harsh realities and “truths” of the world around them.

Okay, so I've started running a little Pathfinder campaign of my own now. I'm having fun, my players are having fun, the only problem is that I am not quite sure how to make a connected, interesting setting. I can make a billion and more small side-quests with interesting, novel ideas, but I can't figure out how to string them together in any meaningful way. I don't want my game to feel like a "monster of the week/town" type game. Any advice?

Firstly, it’s great to hear that you and your players are already enjoying yourselves, it’s always good to hear those kind of things.

If you are finding your side-quests are being drawn towards the ‘monster-of-the-week’ trope and your players have no problem with this, them it’s not too difficult to make a couple of minor changes so as to achieve the ‘connected’ feeling you desire. That ‘connected’, thematic consistency is the holy-grail of DMing, isn’t it? So I can fully understand your want for this. It’s a good thing to have.

My advice in this scenario is to have some small reoccurring item of sorts appear in some of (maybe all; but only if you are really subtle and smart abut it) these side quests that neatly knits them into a wider narrative that could have some relation to their ‘main’ adventure or objective.

Some examples I can think of right now are;

 - Some of the dangerous and deadly monsters that have been causing destruction in the local area are each covered in savage, tribal tattoos and war-paints that glow in combat, granting them abnormal powers. A cave bear that can breath flame; a Giant Wasp that can teleport short-distances; a gang of Trolls that are supernaturally quick and agile. These tattoos are found to be inscribed by a mysterious shaman, mage, or villainous druid (perhaps an underling of a larger villain, pursuing a smaller objective under their behest. If the party cannot stop this tattoo’er then the final confrontation is tougher - tattooed minions, etc.)

 - Maybe the local gangs, raider groups, or mercenary organisations each hold a piece of a treasure map (magical compass, Gnomish hologram-thingy, etc.) that leads to a well-historied hoard of a legendary warrior, or whatever, of your setting? (An ancient King that one of the PC’s knows about, maybe a relative of one of the NPCs?) The gangs each tore up the map before going their separate ways to stop the others from finding the treasure for themselves. The only way to reunite the pieces is to face the gangs and collect their pieces. They each just so happen to have bounties upon their heads, or are troubling local leadership and authority who are willing to pay for their destruction (maybe the bounty-provider knows about the maps and aims to betray the party?)

 - Perhaps the local authority or leadership is secretly working against the party’s interests and seeks to have them defeated by siding with a horrid villain promising power and wealth and whatever evil people like? The PCs could learn this by finding messages, letters, or witnesses whom the crooked and corrupt leader thought that they had disposed of. They could be found in monster lairs, bandit camps, at the bottom of a small lake, or simply in a lost-dungeon somewhere. These pieces of information can be found as the party go about their adventuring and help them build a more convincing argument to bring the people against their traitorous king, baroness, priest, etc.

One final thing you could do to really seal the deal is to make some simple hand-outs that would legitimise these side-quest narrative arcs. Hand-write a torn-up map on tea-stained paper and tear it into four-pieces. Type-up a letter from a tyrannical warlord to the king about an alliance and a  massive payment for loyal servitude. Draw-up  a quick sketch of what the tattoos look like so the players know that if they see these tattoos again, they know what to expect in a fight.

I figure most fans can agree that the game tells us rather than shows us that Noct & Luna are [Supposed To Be] in love (unless you don't, that's cool too) & it makes that 2nd end-credit scene sit really odd for me since all of the emotional weight is really with the bros not with Noct & Luna's relationship & I feel they didn't earn it, you know? & tbh sometimes I'm just kinda bummed Noct wasn't fishing or doing something fun, they're just /sitting/ & Luna doesn't even get a chair. Thoughts?

Yeah, I’m a fan that agrees that Luna and Noctis are a little bit odd, considering that they’re such an odd dynamic compared to the natural relationship of some of the others characters (particularly Noctis and the boys). It’s understandable in that sense too, considering that Noctis and Luna only were able to communicate through a book for 12 years, I think? It’s a little bit of an odd thing, since these two should honestly have a genuinely beautiful relationship – and they most certainly could. But the way the game handled these two was kind of a bummer, to be honest. There could have been alot of potential with it if they handled it a bit better.

But I can also see how Noctis and Luna remain canon, too. Like, they managed to keep in contact through a book for twelve years, and it seems kinda like ‘Eeeh. It’s a book.’ But think of it this way too: the book is kinda like a letter from a friend – correspondence of lovers and allies over years upon years. It’s almost like being able to talk to someone every day or when you can, see their messages pop up in your inbox or mailbox, and realizing that just because you don’t see this person, you know they exist. Their voice can be imagined through the letters sent to you. Their recollection, their thoughts, their experiences. These two would send letters and notes to each other in books for twelve years until the fateful day where they would one day be married – lovers finally having the moment to potentially reunite after a twelve year friendship that perhaps blossomed into something more.

Just because you don’t see a face in person doesn’t mean that you’ve lost the ability to love them or care about them, you know? In older days, soldiers and lovers would exchange letters to one another, poets and muses share stories and tales – in a way, Noctis and Luna are similar. The thought of waiting eagerly for a letter or note from someone you care for, the little exchanges that feel restricted and forgotten, it’s almost enlightening and heartwarming to receive a message from someone you were so close to and still want to be close to.

In a way, it’s like the cyber conversations people have with each other on the internet. You wait eagerly for a message for someone you may or may not have met before or in a long time, but you still want to talk to them, to see them, because despite not seeing their face unless through pictures or drawings, you still don’t really lose your friendship with them. It’s just as if you were talking to them in person, just not face-to-face unfortunately.

Perhaps not as fast as being able to send a message or post a note with the utmost of speed, but they still managed to keep in touch through the book. Like, there’s the whole ‘Why not just call?’ And the justification is that Lucis is far more technically advanced than Tenebrae was, restricting technological communication. But it’s also the fact that these two were probably so young before they could use phones or other means of communication too. The notebook worked, so why not stick with it? But I digress on that. Despite it not being fast, they still managed to talk, tell each other their stories, and acted as if it were just like writing to a friend and love, a message you eagerly wait for that, when it arrives, it immediately brightens your day and brings a smile to your face.

The unfortunate thing about all of these thoughts is that we never really got to see the moments where Lunafreya would send Noctis notes and maybe little doodles about how her training as Oracle is going or the messages and pictures Noctis would send to Lunafreya about how he’s been handling school and about the new friend he made in high school. The little messages and interactions that mean the whole world to the two until one day, when Niflheim’s occupation would end, the two can finally meet in person and tell each other all that they talked about in person finally.

So yeah, I’m a little bummed out about the whole Noctis/Luna dynamic never really was handled that well, but I still don’t write out the potential that the relationship has either. I may have other ships I prefer, but I still like Noctis and Luna as a ship too. There’s a charm about the ‘letters from a lover’ trope that I really like~
