It’s that time of year again. In Japan, it’s the custom to exchange nengajo (年賀状) - New Year’s postcards. Last year Funassyi received 16,000 nengajo, far more than any other gotouchi chara. There was an article which no longer seems to be available that he received some cards from overseas, but it wasn’t a lot. Let’s try to change that this year, so that The Pear knows he has lots of fans outside of Japan! Funassyi’s mailing address in English is as follows:
Funassyi c/o Funabashi East Post Office Funabashi 274-8799 Chiba, Japan
Although it shouldn’t be necessary, if you want to add the Japanese address to be sure (and your system is displaying the Japanese below properly), just print screen, cut and paste it below the English address:
This is just a suggestion, but a nice picture postcard from wherever you live might be a good idea to send. They are sure to be eye-catching. I believe Funassyi does read some English, and he reads Chinese even better, so writing to him in one of those languages is probably a good idea. Of course given the volume of mail he gets he probably won’t be able to read every card, but just in case he does it would be great if he can understand what it says.
Be sure to mail it ASAP so that it will reach Funabashi before New Year’s Day.
And of course if you live in Japan, send him a nengajo!!
(h/t to @aussienassyi for the reminder that it is that time of year!)
