So I'm not american, and I've been living in the USA for 3 years now. I have a pretty strong accent and I can't pronounce some sounds right no matter how hard I fucking try. I joke about if, my friends joke about it (i say "three trees" as "tree trees" etc) and it's fine. But yesterday I met an internet friend and holy fucking shit. Every sentence I said was interrupted by him YELLING the words I said wrong back at me and then throwing his head back and cackling. I felt like fucking shit.

Lord that’s awful. I hope he’s no longer an internet “friend”.

Especially annoying because English is one of the least prescriptivist languages out there. Like there are dialects of English that I have trouble understanding, but they’re entirely valid dialects. A lot of Brits think American accents sound very nasal-y (they’re right, we nasalize a ton of sounds). I know Southerners who are embarassed about their accents. Linguistic and accent diversity is a good thing.

Okay, I know I said I was gonna take a break from voice acting, but after seeing this post that @the-vampire-inside-me made earlier of Abel’s genderbent form, I had to do a quick voice demo for her.  And honestly, this was very fun to do.  The remaining lines I read were from this comic here, inspired by my good friend, @jamesdijit, who voices Abel on his channel (he’s my canon voice for Abel, by the way, lol).

Hope you like this, Vampire!  Thanks for giving me an excuse to make a female voice for Abel!  XD

Norn/Nynorn phrases

This old couple who lived next to us when I lived in Caithness were Nynorn enthusiasts who use to talk it to me, it’s a generalised revival of Norn, a Scandinavian language closely related to Faroese and Icelandic, derived of Old Norse/Norwegian that was spoken in northern Scotland, Shetland and Orkney. It went officially extinct in 1850, but has been continuously spoken in some form since then. Strengthening my ability of it so here’s s new phrases!

Guðen dag - good day
Hvarleðes hever du dað? - How are you?
Eg hev dað gott, takk, og du? - I’m good, how about you?
Hvart heder du? - What is your name?
Eg hedi… - My name is…
Hvaðan ert du? - Where are you from?
Eg er ur Skottlandi - I’m from Scotland

I was thinking about Richard and lo and behold a minuet later he posts a video (his face, he's having fun and loving his job) and I truly think he's managed to turn Instagram into a weapon because he's murdering us with that chest hair. Was kinda afraid to admit I love his chest hair. Thought it was sorta taboo. But apparently not. Celebrate that wonderful man's chest hair (and all of him)! He said posting so much my heart is going into overdrive. Him on the trampoline and diving! ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ðŸ˜©ðŸ˜©ðŸ¤¤ðŸ¤¤í ½

I share your sentiments.  I don’t think there is anything wrong at all with loving chest hair.  I’m glad he’s been so active on IG, loving his job and just seeming real happy lately.  It’s lovely to see.

Why isn’t Skandinavian a language; like oan language instaead of þre? From hwat I undrstand, Boarisch untascheidt s vo Hochdeutsch, mehr als Norsk og Dansk gør fra Svenska, eller fra varandra. (I get ðat Boarisch is considred a language, but most all of ðem can speke Hochdeutsch, so it gets litl recognition.)

I mene ðer is less mutual intelligibility between London and Edinburgh ðan ðer is between ð Skandinavians.

“Is ðer really?”

Idk. Probably depends on who ar speking.

But ð point is: Skandinavia is so connected ðat it would be easy t standardize ð þre languages int oan auxiliary language (at least written language).

Don’t get me wrong, each has unique beauty, but ye’r basically looking at different sides of ð same sculptur.

Ð very purpose of language is communication. Different languages hav developed over periods of relativ isolation and integration. As of Century XXI, ð concept of isolation (especially amongst ð Skandinavian peoples) is over. No longer compete ðey against oan anoðer; no longer seke ðey conquest and tribute. Tday ðey hav peace. Tmorro ðey hav harmony.

Ðus I propose Nordmål
