I want- Vanity

Tonight’s vanity moment obviously couldn’t go without inspiring a short little one shot. It’s cute and completely dedicated to @trashmouth-teddi who is absolutely amazing and willing to help me when I ask questions that must seem weird with any context…. enjoy…..

Charity Dingle:

I want to see you. Come over tonight.

She smirked as she knocked on the back door of the pub already knowing what was about to happen. They’d been at it for weeks, hooking up when one of them was in need and frankly it was quite a satisfying arrangement for both of them. When Charity opened the door, Vanessa cupped her face passionately kissing her as she pushed her back throw the door and against the wall. Charity moaned in pleasure when Vanessa’s lips trailed down her jaw to her neck, before she got too caught up in the moment she gently pushed Vanessa off her confusing the woman “Did I something wrong?”

The panic in her voice made Charity feel bad, but the kind and gentle tone reminded her what she wanted to stay and why she wanted to say it “Of course not, just come here”

Vanessa smiled as she was pulled into the back room, all worry fading when she noticed the food set out on the table. However her worry was replaced by confusion because sharing dinner felt oddly like a date and they had both agreed it was simply sex between them “What’s all this?”

“Dinner” Charity shrugged, pulling out a chair and gesturing for Vanessa to sit down. “I thought we should talk”

“About?” Vanessa was completely lost, she knew Charity wasn’t ending what was going on between them otherwise she’d have outright said it rather than supplying what seemed to be Marlon’s cottage pie.

“Us?” Charity suddenly felt unsure of her decision so it came out as more of a question than a statement and Vanessa smiled “I think I want to maybe be more than a hook up”

“Really?” Vanessa’s face was unreadable when Charity nodded. She still hadn’t figured out what exactly she was but the idea of having Charity as her girlfriend excited her. Everytime they were in the pub it was difficult to keep up the pretense they despised each other, the more she thought about it the realization dawned her that she wanted a relationship with Charity. The landlady was awkwardly fidgeting with her fork not touching the meal in front of her, she could see Vanessa had zoned off but the pause was unbearable for Charity who for the first time in ages had truthfully explained what she wanted.

“I just like you a lot” her own voice cutting the silence surprised her but it seemed to bring Vanessa’s attention back to her present “You’re not my usual type, in fact you’re miles better. You’re sweet and caring and despite the innocent person you’re oh so very tentative. I want a relationship, the whole lot with hand holding and dates and all those cliche feelings.”

“Okay then let’s do it” Vanessa nodded a twinkle appearing in her eyes as Charity gasped in delight “You are something else Miss Dingle. You act as though the world is against you but you’re just as sweet as you make me out to be. So we’ll do it we’ll have cuddles, movie nights and tons of itty gritty feelings”

They leaned over the table and kissed, their usual passionate was their but this time it was a lot more loving. They broke apart and began to eat the dinner Charity had snatched from the kitchen, they discussed their days and how they were going to come out as a couple. It felt oddly domestic, heading upstairs together to cuddle both too tired and full to do anything else bit neither of them would have had it any other way.

The charlatan takes very different shapes according to circumstances; but at bottom he is a man who cares nothing about knowledge for its own sake, and only strives to gain the semblance of it that he may use it for his own personal ends, which are always selfish and material.
