Thought of the Day:
It is not in my mind to ask questions that cannot be answered. That is the soul standing upon the crossroad of vacillation. You search for wisdom, but achieve only a stasis of will.
You got on the wrong gaming board, filthy monkeigh.
(Imagine this table with 6 more jetbikes of conclave and heroes, two jetbikes looking like hoverboards, 8 incubi, 1 falcon that I’ll maybe convert into firestorm, 1 vyper, 1 venom, 10 scourges that will have a corsair look, 20 guardians to get corsair jump packs too, the triumvirate, at least 15 wyches, a FW avatar of Khaine and then a collection of oldhammer warpspiders, banshees and other few stuff that I can’t remember precisely and you’ll have my entire army including back log on there. It will never fit.)
While trying to work with plasticard I got careless with the x-acto knife (multiple times) and basically turned my fingertips into very sensitive hamburger. Gonna probably take a couple days off from hobby stuff and just play mass effect with my free hours until I recover enough to work on adding the green stuff to Bobby G’s cape and making him new pteruges simce the last ones i tried to make got screwed up in the process of me mangling myself.
But first, a depressive reward nap since I recruited all but the last me:a squaddie and mostly fixed a planet.
Being attached to an Imperial Navy air wing is totally awesome. If I suspect someone isn’t fighting hard enough, I can shoot down their craft in a totally awesome explosion.
Shame that last one was a Valkyrie, and all the men inside died too. They weren’t fighting hard enough either. Or at all.
Tonight I started working on one of the Purestrain Genestealers for my Cult, the Coronid Watchmen.
Base colours are down and it’s ready to be shaded. I also got all the shading washes down on my two Neophyte test models.
Really enjoying painting with some bright colours after finishing my Iron Warriors army!
In high school, I was mainly a Marine player in 40K, not because I had any great love for them, but because a curious story left me with a huge number of Marine models. All that changed in 1996 when the 2nd ed. Chaos codex came out. I came up just as Rogue Trader was fading away and I never really got to enjoy the Realms of Chaos era, but older models were still around and, in those days, not really collectible, so I wound up with some, and over the years since I’ve built up the collection indiscriminately.
I never had too much money to spend on models, and I never had much of a plan, so the collection is eclectic. I bought the metal fat-belly plague marines in a model shop in Dublin because I thought they looked cool. My brother bought a set of Plague Bearers in a model shop in Cambridge – he must have been about 11 – because he thought they looked cool. I have a bunch of the plastic Plague Marines that came out in 2nd Ed because they were really cheap, and I have the old GUO because that’s the one you could buy in a blister from my local game shop. The later one is very nice, too, but a) I already had one, b) I love his goofy grin, and c) it was $40! I bulked out the army with my own inexpert conversions and never really quite finished any part of it, and that was the story of it off and on for 20 years.
This year (and, who am I kidding, next year) I’m gonna rebuild the army I’ve been carrying around since I left for university later that year. I’m going to paint some new models, touch up and rebase some old ones, and hunt down a few to fill in the gaps. It’s going to include, at a guess, models from every generation of Chaos figures since the Renegades were released, but that’s not a goal, just a consequence of my eclectic collecting.
Here are a few images from the first batch; some are newly-painted, some a few years old, and that Great Unclean One is from the 90s, with a little bit of work last night to make it fit in a wee bit better with the newer models.
Okay @aearyn tagged me to do this And hell yeah, I love memes
5 Good Things
1. People I feel close to and warm about. You know. Wide range, from actual family to certain geometrical objects, filled with jerks. 2. New season of a Samurai Jack cartoon. I grew with it goddamit and now JACK IS BACK DO YOU FEEL MY HYPE?! 3. New fandom I am slowly exploring. Yes, WH40K. People I met, characters I found (especially one I get recently shamed about, kekeke), books, silly memes, Eliphas from DoW screaming dramatically something like IT WOULD BE MINE11!!1… What a dork :3 4. Okay, let’s say SWTOR in general. Ya know. Royal dorks, OC bbs, companions, Zakuul. It makes me feel good and happy. 5. Music. Music is certainly good and powerful thing.
