Handmade Gemstone Jewelry by My Luna Jewel

You might or might not know that my dad handcrafts gemstone and sterling silver jewelry. He puts a lot of time, love and effort into each piece but recently has had to put it on hold and going is on rest as he has found out he will need surgery sometime within the next few weeks. It would mean a lot if anyone could send some love his way by helping to support his store. This doesn’t mean you have to buy anything, but even just liking one item will help support it! My family and I would really appreciate it and if you do decide to make a purchase, you can even use LAP10 for 10% off your total! Thank you ♡

Edit: My family dog began bleeding copious amounts yesterday and we had to do a random vet visit, proceeds will also go towards paying that off (She has perfectly recovered). Thank you all for your support, it means a lot during these times.

psa for the yoi fandom: russian names & how to use them

Russian guides: masterpost | patronyms | terms of affection | answered asks

I’m going to start by swearing this isn’t me just complaining but a general resource for the Yuri on Ice fandom because I’ve noticed some mistakes in the naming conventions used among the fandom and want to help correct them. Especially in how the fandom treats diminutives. I absolutely love seeing the huge amount of interest in Russian diminutives, etc. in fanart and fics and hopefully this breakdown will help continue that trend and interest and even spur some more ideas in fandom content.

So let’s go through some important details below the cut!

“Everything about this woman was both hard yet soft, delicate yet bold, wild yet calm. She was a storm that called to Cassian; it beckoned him into its grasp. A storm that he didn’t want to avoid anymore. He wanted to give in to the urges that pulled him to Nesta and he wanted her to do the same. So he let go of all pretense, closed his eyes, and leaned in to finally, finally, kiss the catastrophically beautiful woman below him.”

I recently just finished my first 18th century upper class dress, and just in time for bastille day with friends!

I was very fortunate and was able to get the fabric and notions all together under $40 at a craft sale. The dress is made of real silk and the most expensive item was the feathers! I had to get creative since I only had so much fabric but I am very pleased. We had such a great time and i cant wait to work on my next projects

Imagine Steve and Tony bonding when Tony learns about Bucky and Steve fixing up steves first bike way back when, and takes him to the shop to show him the cars he's revamped

“I don’t often admit to being wrong, but I have to say Cap, I was wrong about you.  I didn’t realize you knew so much about your bike.”

Steve looks up from his place on the concrete next to his motorcycle, fingers grease-stained and a myriad of tools on a cloth beside him.

“Turns out I’m more than a showgirl.  Who knew.”

“I should’ve known, it’s not like you always had access to a mechanic in the war.”

“No.  And we made a lot of…adjustments, with Dernier’s help.”

“I’ve seen some of the footage.  Shot flames and everything.”

A wistful grin crossed Steve’s face.  “Yeah.”

Tony pondered Steve for several long moments before nodding once decisively.  “That settles it.”

“What?”

“You know what you’re doing and you just admitted how much you like explosions.  Come on. I need another pair of hands in my shop and I want to show off what I’ve done to someone who’s going to appreciate it.”

Steve paused, gauging Tony’s expression and when he found nothing facetious in it, he hurried to clean up the space around his bike.

“That’d – that’d be real nice, Tony.  Thanks.  I haven’t worked in a shop since-“

“The war?”

“Before.  I couldn’t do much and when I couldn’t get a job illustrating, there was a mechanic shop down the street that would give me the small stuff to tinker with.  I had the smallest fingers and I could fix some of the more delicate stuff.”

Tony’s smile got wider.  “JARVIS.  Give Cap access to the garage.  He’s gonna need it.”  Tony had a mischievous glint in his eye.  “I have an antique that I could use your expertise on.”

407 w connor!!

thank you, nonny! i’m assuming this is a reader insert (since that’s the only thing that makes sense, i guess?), if that’s cool! if not, feel free to shoot me another ask!

( 407. “My friend bet me 20 bucks that I wouldn’t walk up to a random underclassman and ask them to senior prom and I’m about to be 20 dollars richer and, no, that doesn’t invalidate the question, you’re actually really cute”  )

((i’m changing it a little but for the most part it’s the same))

((and by ‘a little’ i mean i messed with a little bit of spacing and made the words flow n stuff))

Connor was used to Jared’s shit. Jared was the guy who would come up with stupid bets from time to time for the little circle of friends and was always willing to throw down cash for them, and almost always targeted Connor for his bullshit. But this. This was different. It all began with the group sitting around at lunch, all discussing plans about what they’d be doing from prom. And as if on cue, Jared swung his head and looked in Connor’s direction the second that he had considered leaving the table.

“So who are you taking?” He asked, head resting in his hand as he eagerly waited for Connor’s response with a badly suppressed smirk. He had a plan.

        “No one. I’m not going.”

Are you filming me? // SHAWN MENDES

Overview: Can you do one where y/n is driving and Shawn is in the car too and another driver did something and y/n was just angry and swearing and Shawn laughs and records her. I find this really funny.

Authors note: I laughed while writing this and if no one else finds this funny I need to get my humor checked bahah

Requested: yess

“Did you see that?” I exclaim, turning to look over my shoulder for a split second, my expression one of utter disbelief.

“What hun?” Shawn murmurs, looking up from his phone.

“That cow just came out right in front of me!” I clench the wheel between my fingertips angrily.

“An actual cow or?” Shawn smirks and I shoot him a glare.

“A driver Shawn,” I mutter.

“And now she’s driving like 40 under the freaking speed limit!” my voice raises and I can feel the anger churning in my stomach. “Can I honk her? Shawn, let me honk her… please!” I beg him, looking at him quickly and he’s grinning, eyes alight with happiness.

“Baby, don’t you dare,”

“I’m going to honk her,” the car stops and I press on the break quickly, jolting us forward in our seats.

“DON’T JUST STOP!” I press hard on the horn, anger written all over my face.

Shawn’s cackling beside me, struggling to get air in his lungs.

“What the fuck is she doing, no no no, don’t put on your indicator- fuck she put on her indicator,” I bite my lip, turning my indicator on as well.

“If she’s going to the same place we are, I’m going to flipping loose it,”

“I think you’ve already lost it Y/n,” Shawn gasps. Out of the corner of my eye I see him raising his phone up.

“Are you filming me? Wait, yes- film this… this monstrosity,” I gesture to the car in front of me that’s slowly starting to move into the middle of the road.

“She’s going to get her self killed, and then, she’s going to get us killed,” I say, one hand raising to tug my seat belt tighter.

“I believe in your driving skills baby,” Shawn chuckles.

“Not the time to laugh Shawn, have you been to church lately?”

“No,”

“I would get worried, we’re about to be seeing God soon,”

His laugh fills the car and I can’t help but crack a smile until the car stops again. I slam my hand on the horn.

“WHAT ARE YOU DOING?” The red mazda slowly swings around until it’s completed a U turn.

“It’s doing a U turn! Yes Shawn this is what we’ve been waiting for!” The car passes us and I turn to stare at the driver, an older lady in her mid 50′s behind the wheel. She smiles at me and I put on a fake smile back.

“What an idiot,” I say, the smile stays plastered on my face until she’s gone, Shawn currently still laughing as I put my foot on the gas, speeding up to the correct speed until the car is a speck in the rear view mirror.

“Well Shawn,” I turn to him and he smirks at me.

“Yes Y/n,”

“What we did just there, that was what you call cheating death,”

Maryam Mirzakhani, first woman to win maths' Fields Medal, dies
Acclaimed Iranian mathematician Maryam Mirzakhani dies of breast cancer aged 40.

The 40-year-old Iranian, a professor at Stanford University, had breast cancer which had spread to her bones.

Nicknamed the “Nobel Prize for Mathematics”, the Fields Medal is only awarded every four years to between two and four mathematicians under 40.

It was given to Prof Mirzakhani in 2014 for her work on complex geometry and dynamical systems.

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said Prof Mirzakhani’s death caused “great sorrow,” state media reported.

Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said her death was a cause for grief for all Iranians.

“A light was turned off today. It breaks my heart… gone far too soon,” US-Iranian scientist Firouz Naderi posted on Instagram.

He added in a subsequent post: “A genius? Yes. But also a daughter, a mother and a wife.”

Prof Mirzakhani and her husband, Czech scientist Jan Vondrak, had one daughter.

Some social media users criticised Iranian officials for not using recent images of Prof Mirzakhani which showed her uncovered hair. Iranian women must cover their hair in line with a strict interpretation of Islamic law on modesty.

Iranian official media and politicians used older pictures in their social media tributes, which show her hair covered.

Stanford University President Marc Tessier-Lavigne described Prof Mirzakhani as “a brilliant mathematical theorist and also a humble person who accepted honours only with the hope that it might encourage others to follow her path”.

“Maryam is gone far too soon but her impact will live on for the thousands of women she inspired to pursue math and science,” he said.

“Her contributions as both a scholar and a role model are significant and enduring and she will be dearly missed here at Stanford and around the world.”

Born in 1977, Prof Mirzakhani was brought up in post-revolutionary Iran and won two gold medals in the International Mathematical Olympiad as a teenager.

She earned a PhD at Harvard University in 2004, and later worked at Princeton before securing a professorship at Stanford in 2008.

Her receipt of the Fields Medal three years ago ended a long wait for women in the mathematics community for the prize, first established in 1936.

Prof Mirzakhani was also the first Iranian to receive it.

The citation said she had made “striking and highly original contributions to geometry and dynamical systems” and that her most recent work constituted “a major advance”.

Prof Dame Frances Kirwan, a member of the medal selection committee from the University of Oxford, said at the time: “I hope that this award will inspire lots more girls and young women, in this country and around the world, to believe in their own abilities and aim to be the Fields Medallists of the future.”
