Princess Emma, along with her parents, ruled over the kingdom Misthaven in relative peace… until one night, the Dark One comes to collect on a deal that her parents had made to ensure her safety before she was born.
Emma decides to strike a counter-deal with Rumplestiltskin: if she could find her true love by the next new moon, he would leave their kingdom and her family alone for good.
Not one to sit around waiting for a prince to come save her, Emma then sets out to find the one who spent his whole life (and then some) hunting down the Dark One—Captain Killian “Hook” Jones, notorious pirate and scourge of the seven seas. Together, they go on a quest to defeat the Dark One once and for all… and perhaps find true love along the way.
I’ve gone back and forth about whether I want rolling in the game, what purpose it will serve, and so on. I think I decided to include it when I saw Minish Cap had rolling!
I’m still figuring out what kind of gameplay effect it will have. Faster movement? Bashing into things? Dodging enemy attacks?
I’m pretty certain I at least want to have a “roll attack” (whether you start with it or learn it later) that does more damage. You’d have to hit the attack at the right time just before the roll ends.
I also like the idea of using it to dodge enemy attacks, but I want to make sure people don’t just spam it (and I don’t really want a stamina bar, I don’t think). Maybe the only invincibility frames will be in the middle. Or maybe there are certain attack types that can’t be dodged. The best route I think for this will be to look at Super Smash Bros!
