Makeup in Movies

Being the beauty addict I am I can’t help but pay attention to the numerous beauty products that appear as props in movies…

How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days is filled with beauty products which isn’t surprising since Andie Anderson (Kate Hudson) works at a top Women’s magazine. Throughout the film Revlon appears with nail polishes and advertisements in “Composure”. Later on we can see an array of products that Andie has placed in Ben’s bathroom such as: Revlon Nail Polish, a Stila Palette, and an Estee Lauder Cleanser.

Hayley Atwell at Boston Comic Con

1. Told a hilarious story about trying to film a love scene with Eddie Redmayne during Pillars of Earth on a hot day when he was wearing layers of fake tan that he kept sweating off. It somehow managed to be both disgusting and charming.

2. Paraphrased this from O.G. feminist Mary Wollstonecraft when asked for quotes that inspired her:

“Taught from their infancy that beauty is woman’s sceptre, the mind shapes itself to the body, and roaming round its gilt cage, only seeks to adorn its prison.”

And said that it means that women are tricked into thinking beauty is their most important attribute and it traps them into not valuing anything else about themselves.

3. Said Stanley Tucci makes a mean martini.

4. Said she made Chris Evans “rehearse” the Dirty Dancing Dubsmash kiss with her “about ten times.” That girl is living her best life.

5a. One question started by contrasting the “flirtation” between Peggy & Steve of the first Cap movie with how Agent Carter makes it seem like Peggy & Steve were fully in a relationship and ended with “so how do you interpret that? I mean, did they, like, consummate the relationship?” And Hayley declaring “OH, THAT’S WHAT YOU WANT TO KNOW.”

5b. She said yes; then she wondered about 1940s morality; then she said she’d have to ASK CHRIS WHAT HE THOUGHT. (”Oh, he’ll say [american accent] ‘Yeah. C’mon. Definitely!’”)

crazyboldninja asked:

When are you going to release the trailer for season 4? Also, which episode are you currently filming?

We’re currently filming Ep. 402.  I’d like to have a bit more footage from multiple episodes before we release a Season 4 trailer.

WANNA KNOW WHAT I LOVE ABOUT THIS DREAM SEQUENCE

Usually in film and tv, when a boy has a dream about the girl he’s in love with, the girl will appear beautiful and dressed to perfection with perfectly done hair and makeup because it’s the GIRL OF HIS DREAMS. But Stiles doesn’t see Lydia that way in his dream-that’s what I love about this scene. Stiles could have imagined Lydia in bed with him looking like a total hottie but instead, she looks…natural. Her hair isn’t done, it doesn’t look like she’s wearing much makeup, and her outfit isn’t anything particularly sexy. Stiles isn’t in love with Lydia because of her looks. When he dreams about Lydia, “the most popular and beautiful girl in school,” he dreams about waking up next to his Lydia. He chooses to see her for who she really is. That’s who he’s in love with.

Muslim actors, particularly men, are given roles as terrorist to keep films about Islamic extremism to keep up that narrative.

When a movie comes along with Muslim actors, both men and women, where they’re just living and being, those films are always lambasted as not being authentic enough.

Because movie goers, generally speaking, are kept believing that Muslims can’t be normal.

Hollywood is garbage and representation will only come from us.

Un Chant d’Amour

A poster design (1 of 2) for Jean Genet’s silent short film. If you haven’t seen it yet you can find the film on Vimeo. It’s beautiful and heart-wrenching, but you may want to know (if the image hasn’t given it away already) the film is very much NSFW – just in case you decide to watch it somewhere your boss or your mom could unexpectedly walk by.

Enjoy!
