Any fics where Stiles goes to Derek for help or to stay with Derek because he has nowhere else to go? Either he’s been pushed out of his friend group or has a fight or misunderstanding with his father?

I think so.

(1/1 I 1,952 I General)

Pushed away from the pack, Stiles has had enough of Beacon Hills.

(4/4 I 14,866 I Teen)

In which Derek finds his words and Stiles learns to growl.

Stiles should've expected Derek to suddenly disappear since the werewolf was in the habit of taking off without notice. However, Derek always showed up when they needed him.

As the weeks pass by, Stiles is no longer confused and a little hurt. What started as heartache begins to get worse the longer Stiles goes without seeing Derek. Eventually, his body begins to shut down and his only hope seems to be Derek...but nobody can find him.

There's no cure for a broken heart. Except, maybe, the cause for the broken heart himself.

Or the one where Derek takes off without warning and Stiles finds out he could be Derek's mate and the distance between Derek and Stiles, along with Derek's refusal to develop the bond, is slowly killing Stiles. Without Derek, Stiles will die, but no one knows where he is or how to contact him. And Stiles is barely keeping it together.

Derek doesn’t want to call the window repair guy. He doesn’t want to sweep up the glass. He’ll inevitably miss a few shards and pull them out of the bottom of his bare feet for weeks.

He doesn’t want to try to make this place feel like home when it isn’t.

Derek stayed in Beacon Hills and tried to make it work because he wanted pack, wanted purpose. He gave his best effort and found himself back where he started: alone, with a few begrudging allies. He’s tired, and even though his werewolf body heals quickly, he feels the weary ache down to his center.

He packs his car with the few things he cares about enough to drag them from place to place. He locks the loft and calls a realtor about listing the building he’d bought in a misguided attempt to secure a future.

And then he leaves.

I love how they left out the part about them giving out the lesbian couple’s personal information to send them death threats, running them out of their home, and encouraging other fundies to petition to have their children taken away. **examines fingernails**

Also the fact that they raised half million dollars from other raging homophobes to fund this bigotry. I hope the dickholes lose the shirts off their backs and have to live out of a van. But that’s too much to hope for.

I just wanna add that the lesbian couple were getting married because their mutual friend had just died of cancer and they were adopting her two daughters… and that the death threats were so bad that they had to quit their jobs and move. it’s never just about a cake. it’s about the precedent you set when you allow ppl to discriminate. it’s about all the disgusting bigots that crawl out of the woodwork when they feel like they have the right to hate.

As a Scottish person living in England I feel this on a personal level, when people say shit like “well it’s not the genuine asylum seekers I’m bothered by, it’s the people who just move here to get a better job and take advantage of our welfare system” and I’m like “Mate, I literally moved 500 miles south to a different country just to get a better job and better weather, if you’re going to hate on anyone for that hate on me.”

Then they try to back-track and say things like “Well you already speak perfect English so it’s fine” and I’m like “My grandma didn’t speak very good English when my grandparents settled in the UK from Finland, what are you trying to say?”

And they’re like “Well I’m sure you’re grandparents had useful jobs and weren’t just sponging off the system.” like… nah, my grandma mended clothes and my grandad sold garden sheds, they weren’t exactly brain surgeons

“But they…” just admit it, it’s not white immigrants that bother you, I doubt Americans go on marches protesting the Canadian undergrad students who overstay their visas or all the germans and scandinavians who just rocked up in the Midwest one day and decided to call it their own.

This was how I finally started to understand white privilege.

I remember reading about a white European of some flavour who had overstayed their visa and wanted to go home but couldn’t afford the plane ticket. They tried to turn themselves in to ICE to get deported, and were straight up told “we’re not looking for people like you”

At one job I worked at, a bunch of my colleagues were talking directly over my head about “immigrants coming here, not educated, taking our jobs; they need to go back to where they came from!” I got fed up and asked them if they’d like me to go back to Canada. “Oh, we didn’t mean you!”, they told me.

My response: “I wasn’t born here. I’m not even a UK citizen. I don’t have a university education. I’m in a job an English person could do. So how did you not mean me?”

They stared at me kind of awkwardly while I waited for a response, because they didn’t want to have to admit that they meant people who aren’t white.

and the Iraqi people welcomed the Americans with flowers. I wanted to set a historical event to teach Bush a lesson from the Iraqis, telling him you lied, we did not welcome you with flowers, and instead we are saying goodbye with our shoes.“

“There has been discussion after Martin Scorsese made this point about an opposition between ‘cinema’ and Marvel movies. As somebody who is making both Marvel movies and—maybe not movies with Martin Scorsese, I don’t think you’ve worked with him—this kind of arthouse films or ‘serious cinema’, how do you look at this opposition? And have you followed this debate?”

Good explanation.

A rock has more self-awareness.

Edit: Okay, apparently some people didn’t get what I thought the connection was between these two quotes, so here’s the point I was trying to make:

If you are going to try and talk someone out of having an abortion, you should be prepared to (1) let them live with you if they’ve been kicked out of their home for getting pregnant, (2) provide them with employment if this pregnancy has cost them their job, (3) pay for their relationship counselling/family counselling/divorce lawyer if the pregnancy is negatively affecting their existing relationships, (4) pay for all pre-natal and post-birth medical care if your country doesn’t have universal healthcare, and (5) adopt and raise the resulting child if they don’t feel they’re in a position to take care of a baby.

Otherwise, butt out of their life and medical procedures.

Reblogging again because I just saw this version in the notes, and it’s worth sharing.

You wanna make a decision for someone else, then you better be willing to accept ALL the consequences of that decision, because you just made it YOUR decision… they’re your consequences now.

Remember when Republicants screamed bloody murder about someone returning fire during BLM protests?

Turns out police were driving around in unmarked vehicles randomly shooting people and Jaleel returned fire after being shot by them.

Imagine you’re standing on the side of the street or walking down the street and suddenly a minivan drives by with the side poor pulled open and starts firing rounds at you.

No identification on the vehicle. No verbal identification by the police. Just racist cops being racist thugs and hurting/maiming/killing as many citizens as they can - then acting like snowflakes after a citizen responds with appropriate force to their murderous intent.

Details about the police involved here:

This is, without exaggeration, a drive-by shooting committed by the Minneapolis Police Department

Think about all the brilliance that’s happened in here. All your favorite sketches. Wild and Crazy Guys, Gilly, Cowbell, Wayne’s World. All happened right here, in here, where you are. All of our collective comedy heroes have run around through here. Like Farley, Gilda, Eddie, Tina.

JASON SUDEIKIS SNL MONOLOGUE (October 23, 2021)

This is literally what Union Carbide did after the Bhopal disaster. First they lied and claimed Sikh terrorists sabotaged the plant, then they quietly spun off their products and absorbed into Dow Chemical, which refuses to pay for damages and to continue to evade any accountability to this day.

This also happened recently with Dupont over their pollutant C8, the topic covered in the film Dark Water. Dupont sold their plants to newer, less established companies like Chemours and were deceptive about the scale of damage they would have to pay for, leaving these smaller companies on the hook for billions in fines they can't afford while Dupont paid only a tiny fraction.

Idk if it's related to the lawsuit over Monsanto's herbicides, but not long after that suit was settled Monsanto was bought by Bayer. Coincidence?
