I think the issue stems from the fact that universal basic income is not guaranteed in a future where AI takes all the jobs.
If there is UBI then by all means take my job. But if there isn’t? What then? We’re all regulated to becoming the starving homeless masses?
The fear of AI doesn’t come from defenders of work. It comes from the very real and insidious belief that those who don’t work don’t have value and shouldn’t be allowed to exist freely without prejudice or harassment.
