Ask me about Kit Baxter. Please.

@scarletsaphire

Bits and pieces of things I've written or find important and/or cool. I don’t tag things, so if you’re triggered by something, be careful when following.

I DO NOT TAG THINGS!

Since I’ve been writing more frequently, I’ve gotten a lot more followers and more people just reading my stuff, which is super cool! I’m happy that yall are enjoying the things I make. But with the influx I wanted to make something very clear.

THE ONLY THINGS I TAG ARE MY WRITING. EVERYTHING I REBLOG IS UNTAGGED.

If you follow me for a little while you will notice I reblog a lot, and its pretty much everything, completely unfiltered. So. If you are someone who is triggered by something, who gets easily disturbed or sqicked, or who just doesn’t want that on their dash. do not follow me. This isn’t any kind of judgement on you; for your own safety, you should not follow.

If you would still like to read the things I’ve written (And I would very much like you to!! I want people to be able to read my stuff, community is a huge part pf why I write.) you can find me on ao3 at scarletsaphire. All of my stuff is posted there, including ask games or requested prompts (which I am always accepting.)

Once again, this is in no way a DNI or a judgement. The way I use tumblr is just to reblog wildly and tag sparingly, and that can be harmful to some people. I want to be as upfront about that as possible, especially as more and more people are seeing my blog.

the world is so neutered it genuinely makes me soooo angry. you can't access any porn web sites in america without providing a selfie and your legal ID. if you save one photo of a shirtless guy to a pinterest board not only will pinterest disable pin recommendations for that board based on their "decency" algorithm, they will notify you that your board violates their policy. this website (and a few others) won't let you search any nsfw terms or even vaguely naughty words without censoring it for you and saying "this search looked sexy so we've prevented you from seeing results!" like what the fuck are we doing? i'm a 28 year old person. i'm an adult. i've seen naked people. i've had sex. if i want to look at some porn i should be able to do that. if i want to see erotic imagery online then i should be able to do that. what are these websites trying to protect me from? what are these websites trying to stop me from seeing or feeling or learning? why don't i get to decide what i see or feel or learn?

idk tumblr rap discourse, i think dismissing the political importance of the genre that successfully popularized the slogan "fuck the police" might be unwise

cool should we talk first about the rampant misogyny or the glorification of drug use that has led to the stigmatization of people who take legitimate prescription medications

yeah we can talk about that

these issues are endemic to USAmerican culture and don't meaningfully trace back to rap in particular. pretending otherwise has obvious motives and "raising concerns" is a low-skill way to mask racism.

there. talk done.

if you don’t think hip hop has a misogyny problem you’re being delusional sorry. i actually enjoy hip hop but if you enjoy something you should be willing to criticize it. you should want it to be better.

Thing is I can and do criticize misogyny more effectively than you ever will, without even needing to be racist to do so.

Skill issue on your end tbqh

Saw a post where someone made fun of another persons atypical way of typing and when they were then told that the person in question type like that because of a disability, they went “how was I supposed to just know that?” - and in case anyone wasn’t aware the answer to that kind of fuckery is:

“You’re not supposed to know that, you’re just supposed to not make fun of anyone’s harmless differences regardless of whether they’re disabled or not. You’re not supposed to be able to tell “weird” abled neurotypicals and disabled/mentally ill people apart, you’re just supposed to treat people with respect generally speaking. It’s not that hard. “I didn’t know they were disabled” is just not the excuse you think it is cause you’re not supposed to make fun of anyone for completely harmless differences regardless of whether said differences are related to a disability or not.

Oh, I forgot to post this. This is from last month – I was planning to adapt it into the "Me Losing You" meme, but I haven’t had time to finish it yet. Here are the two key panels as a sneak peek!(Adding a side note, does anyone know how to join a Discord art server? I can't find any working invitation links.)

here’s another one

IT GETS WORSE WITH EVERY ADDITION

how does this get even worse

I think about once in a while…

We have another one…

This is the internet now tho 😭💀

Omg so many additions since I last saw this post! 😂😂😂

It’s funny but incredibly telling how entitled/ignorant/insensitive some of these people are… idk if it’s an education gap or purposeful ignorance.

The really bewildering thing to me is that I remember when you needed to get up and pull a dictionary off the shelf, or visit a library to look up the facts you needed. Now people have all kinds of information literally at their fingertips and they can’t be bothered to use it.

Oh dear gods, it’s gotten worse

When you know politics but no facts

don’t take people too seriously on the internet

This hits different when combined with that “Americans don’t learn other countries exist till they’re in 5th Grade” post from the other day.

Demily recently got another one lads

Also, I love that, in the sign language one, it seems like the last image might’ve been a gif of “fuck you,” screenshot at the perfect time to let you know they were about to sign “fuck you”

As a romanian person I gotta add this one too

This is my favourite post on this website

I have literally had people tell me that I’m a gross appropriator for learning sign language while not deaf.

I sometimes cannot speak, but leaving that aside, what the FUCK lol

I still remember the guy who got mad at me because I spoke about the cultural role of the Norse gods in my life and my culture and insisted that I should be “proud of my Christian heritage instead” and quite simply would not believe me when I told him I was from Scandinavia because “that doesn’t exist anymore.”

someone please edit that map of europe with the spain void to also have a void for the whole of scandinavia

Every now and then I just have to reblog this.

(while particularly loving: “Gender of the Day: Wales”)

(also “Port O’Rico”)

wizard college midterms they handed me a death lantern I said what the fuck am I supposed to do with this they said whatever comes natural

I said that's stupid and left and they gave me a B+. By what fucking metric

“Covid game me narcolepsy” no you fucking pervert it didn’t. You’re just a weirdo with a gross fetish. Covid didn’t make you suddenly want to fuck dead people. Keep that shit to yourself you gods damned weirdo

I have type 2 Narcolepsy. Studies have shown that serious viral infections can cause people to develop Narcolepsy if they are already genetically susceptible to having it. This includes covid. That is what happened to me.

You on the other hand might want to google the difference between Narcolepsy and Necrophilia….

Yall, I can’t believe that I have to do this, but I am going to say this in as clearly as possible

The anon was very confused.

I have Narcolepsy, which is a sleep disorder. Narcolepsy has nothing to do with Necrophilia. I am not into necrophilia.

I didn’t realize that one said “necropolises.” That’s actually so funny. I think that one must have been a joke

erectile dysfunction girlies rise up!

i did not spend half an hour poorly editing an excerpt from the Soft Bodies chapter from Mira Bellwether's Fucking Trans Women onto that open book for people to make this post about the men in their lives. please respect hoshimi junna's flaccid cock.

people who like undertale but hate deltarune make me so unreasonably mad

someone said in the tags of a post on my main "finally someone gets it. fuck deltarune" and went on a whole rant about deltarune. and they seemingly only hated deltarune because papyrus wasn't in it. and they said he's never gonna be in it and toby obviously hates papyrus and everyone who thinks papyrus is his favorite is stupid

and i was so so brave and i just blocked them instead of engaging everyone praise me

also they ended it with "deltarune isn't canon anyway only undertale is canon" which is such an insane thing to say like. they're two different canons what are you talking about. that's so insane. i can't come up with a proper analogy that's just so insane

SORRY FOR THE VERY PERSONAL COMIC!!

This is my half of “Unhealthy”, an essay comic double header with the lovely and talented Sarah Winifred Searle. She and I both wrote about our personal experiences as overweight ladies with eating disorders, and her story is breathtaking! You can buy a physical copy of the book here: https://topatoco.com/collections/abby-howard/products/ah-unhealthy

Or buy a digital PDF here: https://abbyhoward.itch.io/unhealthy

A comic by an inspiring woman, whose story mirrors much of my own. -ATL

Time to re-up this one. Virtual hugs to everyone out there who has been told they shouldn’t live unless they are ashamed of being fat. You should. Please, live.

-ATL

Everyone should take the time to read this- but especially thin allies in the body positivity movement to end fatshaming who sympathize but haven’t experienced fatphobia directly. Great insight into the mindset of fat people who want to be healthy, but have bad relationships with food that have been pushed on them by society.

I am once again posting Albrecht Dürer’s drawing tutorials from the early 16th century, because how the OP has drawn themselves reminds me of the drawing from 1515 of the “strong, stout woman.” (These drawings are historically significant because the practice of the time was that using live models was the only acceptable way to draw, and Dürer was instead creating a resource to teach people to construct different body types using proportions.)

It goes to show, our cruel culture is not universal…500 years ago, this type of body would have been thought of as simply, “strong and stout.” Isn’t it ridiculous how this society judges people for looking much the same way their ancestors did back in the 1500’s?
