some AU stuff to think about...
(god I love the misery and despair so much 😭)
I'm starting a collection
Good worldbuilding rewards you for questioning it.
You know the. You know the Femme Fatale "I grew up with 10 brothers so I know how to fight" character?
That's
That's Roy Mustang
Just the opposite.
Roy "I grew up with 10 sisters so I know how to disguise covert information reconnaissance as flirting" Mustang.
"I grew up with 10 sisters so I know how to weaponize my sexual charm to disarm others and win favor."
Roy led every higher-up to believe he was just a fuckboy and a manwhore in this for his own ego and that they shouldn't view him as any kind of violent revolutionary like "no sir I'm just a slut."
Roy Mustang.
this is all my brain got from the death of the undying episode
So yeah I rewatched the finale last night since my mother was finishing the series and…yeah I’m still crying
I’m sorry, I just couldn’t get this out of my head and felt a deep desire to draw it
YOUVE DONE IT BESTIE WTF. IM SOBBING. This is why I'm here
[image descriptions: a meme of someone dressed up in an extravagant outfit with large pink feathers in a car next to a disgruntled-looking man wearing all-black.
1. An edit of the image with greed’s face on the feathered-outfit and ‘father’ on the man besides them.
2. A drawing of the edit, showing Greed in the sparkly pink outfit with large hoops, purple tinted glasses and telling a story: “And then, I swear on god, he turns himself into a fucking pickle.” To his right, father, swathed in purple lighting thanks to Greed, looks at him frustrated and thinks “I shouldn’t have had kids.”
3. The same artwork without the text. End Id]
I love how Arakawa clearly wrote detailed backstories for her characters and just like… never elaborates on them. I found an old interview where she was asked why she didn’t include a resolution for Hawkeye and Mustangs goals and her response was essentially “cause this story is about Ed :)”
She’s my biggest inspiration.
I forget how deliciously un-subtle FMAB is with its social commentary. Absolute best moment in television history is that bit where Hughes finds out where the bodies are buried and says, out loud, "How could our government have done these terrible things? Who could've allowed this to happen? I'd better go tell the Fuhrer right away."
"Roy, are we the baddies?"
fullmetal alchemist: brotherhood // scenery –> resembool
the first day
Olivier Mira Armstrong I was reminded by a friend about Olivier, and I just about fainted.
The Elrics burned their home down on October 3rd.
The manga says they did it as soon as Ed got his state alchemist certification.
Accounting for travel time between East City and Resembool, it's reasonable to guess that he got his certification on October 2nd, so that's the date he officially came under Mustang's command.
Roy Mustang's birthday is on October 2nd.
Conclusion: Roy received a sweary feral teenager as his 26th birthday gift, and to this day it was the best worst birthday present ever
“ ‘Truth is stranger than fiction’, as the old saying goes. When I watch a documentary I can’t help crying and then think to myself ‘Fiction can’t compete with this.’ But when I mentioned this to a veteran Manga artist friend of mine, he said ‘Fiction brings salvation to characters in stories that would otherwise have no salvation at all.’ His words strengthened the conviction of my manga spirit.”
