parenting win. one of the hardest things to Get is that you can’t just make someone stop cutting. if you’re cutting, you don’t have access to better ways to deal and not doing anything is a worse option than some bloodshed and scars that will haunt you for the rest of your life.

making someone promise to stop is demanding that they lie to you. guess what makes people cut worse? shame about breaking promises :o

alternatives, support and acceptance (NOT encouragement!) of the situation as it is, that’s the thing to go for. finding other ways to deal should always be the #1 priority, because 99% of the time, if someone has other options, THEY’LL TRY THEM FIRST.
