he’s studying Engineering at Clark Community College in Vancouver. stay away from him.

I think people need to know about this. Things like this happen every single day in America.

no like get this in your heads, people DIE because they simply cant AFFORD to live, there are people DYING because they cant PAY for treatment. EVERY.SINGLE.DAY. WE LET PEOPLE DIE BECAUSE THEY CANT AFFORD CARE. 

I don’t care if this is a stereotypically annoying tumblr saying: i will never not reblog this.

I see this stuff all the time as an EMT. And it’s actually even worse. For chronic conditions like diabetes, emergency rooms only fix the immediate crisis (if possible). They don’t handle the underlying problem – that’s a primary care provider’s job. So if you can’t afford primary care (local free clinic? great! now how will you afford the medication they prescribe/specialist they refer you to?) the untreated problem will cause the exact same (or increasingly worse) crisis over and over again.

An emergency room can’t kick you out until you’re medically stable, regardless of ability to pay. So who pays for these repeated ER visits? It gets passed along to the rest of us. Some conservative politicians even claim this means we don’t need universal healthcare because we already have it! But this kind of “universal healthcare” means we’re paying the absolute highest price possible (cause emergency care is expensive as hell) for the absolute lowest level of healthcare possible (cause again, ERs fix the immediate crisis, not the underlying problem).

By refusing to say that ERs should just throw the poor out to die on the sidewalk (cause they like to pretend they have morals), but also refusing to support basic healthcare to prevent treatable conditions from escalating into emergencies in the first place, opponents of universal healthcare are literally choosing to pay more (and forcing the rest of us to, as well) for their “right” to stand by idly while the poor suffer. It’s Insane Troll Logic at its finest – we could not invent a more nonsensical system, even if we tried.

I feel like minor acts of kindness and good intentions are really important on days like this. 

First year Slytherin kids crying in their dorms because they never wanted to be ‘evil’.

Slytherin kids that are ignored, bullied and picked on by their former friends bc they got sorted into the bad house.

Slytherin kids slowly starting to act like a jerk bc that’s how people expect them to act.

Not to mention the disappointed and disgusted family members when they find out their kid got sorted into Slytherin. Imagine being the only Slytherin in your family.

Slytherins having group therapy in the common room, the older Slytherins comforting the first years, Slytherins looking out for each other, Slytherins sticking together as they try to remove the evil stigma from their house
