Idk the whole “straight people are the majority of population” not only makes homophobes think this is an argument that straight is the norm and anything outside of it isn’t normal, but I’m pretty sure it’s simply not true.
We first have to consider how many LGBTQ+ people are in the closet, so they wouldn’t publicly say they aren’t straight, therefore they’re counted as straight even though they aren’t.
We also have to consider how fucking heteronormative this society is and how many people just haven’t figured out their identity maybe because people keep pushing them to be straight, or because they’re afraid to explore their sexuality.
I just think reproducing the speech that straight people are the majority doesn’t help at all, not only because it’s probably not true, but it contributes to people treating us as if we’re the ones being abnormal.
Out of all sexualities that exist I simply don’t believe being straight is the majority. I do believe a lot of people who think they’re straight are in the multisexual spectrum, but considering they’ve never explored that other part of their identity because they’re still attracted to the opposite gender, they simply haven’t figured that out. Not to mention how I think there’s way more people out there who’re either in the ace spectrum or aro spectrum, and how many more gays and lesbians who’re being pushed to like the opposite gender are out there.
