Hi, I'm Sander! I'm a Swedish illustrator currently living in Wales and this is my art blog!  sanderdraws@gmail.com // sanderdraws.co.uk

Hello! With the upcoming changes on Tumblr, I thought I’d drop my other social medias here. I am enormously thankful to all the people following me/sending messages/reblogging my work here - you’re all the best. I don’t know yet if I’ll move on out to another platform, but in case any of you are leaving and would still like to see what I’m up to, here’s my Twitter and Instagram:

Hi! I was wondering if your 'forever and always just drawing cats' piece is available as a print?

Hello! Pardon my slow response. It’s not available at the moment, but I’ll pop it up in my Society6 store later next week. Just gotta find and edit the file a bit first!

The children’s nursery. I was hoping to finish up all rooms of Morden Hall yesterday, as that was the final day of October, but I ended up playing board games with friends all night instead. Whoops! Hopefully this series will be finished off very shortly, but in the meantime, I hope you had a lovely month  ✨

This October I want to work with and improve my interiors and settings. Welcome to Morden Hall, where we'll spend the next few weeks exploring!

Hårgadansen is the story of when the devil came to Hälsingland. Playing tunes on the violin they had never heard before, all the youth followed him up a mountain where they danced and danced until all that was left was their skeletons. A Swedish folklore story, from the village of Hårga.

Almost October again!! Way back when, in 2015, I drew a few familiars for the season which ended up being very well-received. I kind of want to see if I can keep a topic up again this year, but not necessarily the same one or Inktober. Any suggestions for overarching themes? : ) (knowing me, it’s just gonna end up being “bunch of cats” whoops)

Hi! I like your art! Do you have any advice for using colors?

Hello,

Thank you! To be perfectly honest, I'm still very much playing around with my colour use so this probably won't be entirely helpful;

A lot of my colours are inspired or helped on by my fiancée  - she's fantastic with her artwork but she is also partially colourblind. So whatever she picks ends up more interesting than what I could.

I try and use complimentary or contrasting colour and generally work with what I'm comfortable with; I love pink the most, so I've gotten a fairly good idea how that works. Keeping colours limited and then slowly expanding my palette in pieces have been a really useful way for me to learn how to combine colours in a good way.

The best way, I've found, to figure out colours is find people whos work you enjoy and see how they combine them, what palettes of theirs you think work the best, any particular pieces that stand out because of the colourwork etc. Some I highly recommend are Kevin Jay Stanton, Owen Davey, Naomi Wilkinson, Emily Roberts and Jen Bartel. There's a ton more out there but that's at the top of my head!
