#I liked this story but the fact that Jack has his sword in this story made zero sense to me lol#I just. I don’t feel like Jack would lose himself that much while the hope of going home still existed#he’s a samurai. he’s a very disciplined one. and I feel like this sort of wearing down would only happen a few years in#i would have thought it amazing if the sword was gone though. showing Jack at his ‘best’ versus the fallible and tired man#also giving Jack more identity issues lol.#it is funny thought that Jack has an ‘on sight’ policy with look alikes now LMAO#I have the physical comic book comp w this and some other ones and I have to say this one is the best one besides the ‘cheated death’ one#this one is the best told though#as it goes on it just kind of slowly gets more.. mean? I guess? in its interpretation of Jack#it writes him as this arrogant self important and self assured proud warrior which he’s never shown to be in the actual show#I could have seen what they were going for if they wrote it in a way that made sense. but they didn’t lol#the flat earther one was by FAR the worst and made me just clap the book shut and toss it to the side for a while lol#I guess it maybe would have suited as a story while Jack had his sword if certain things had been omitted#like Jack neglecting his personal appearance and hygiene and hiding in a mountain watching one place for a while#him being very aggressive and distrustful#that sort of thing just. if they had toned that down maybe it would have clicked a little better

i’m rewatching samurai jack (while I do my thesis) and i’m on season 4 and like

you can see how SO MUCH MEDIA has been influenced by it. the artistic choices. The framing. I’m pretty sure Kubo directly lifts several designs and jokes from it (and by lifts, I mean makes loving homages – i would too and i’m delighted to remember them!)

it’s sooo good

absolutely worth the rewatch. just beautiful

//my favorite thing lately has been scrubbing the internet for decades old samurai jack edits and amvs and watching them. there’s so much love for samurai jack in them, faith that he would be back to finish his tale one day, and it fits perfectly with the time it came out lol. the edits aren’t as great as they would be with technology nowadays and the music is often linkin park but there’s always an open love for Jack and the series in there. and there’s something about seeing people love Jack even when it’s not at it’s most angsty, when it’s just seasons 1-4, without the novelty, without anything else to focus on but what makes Jack Jack.

adding my original tags bc fuck it this was good too

Hey yo, 2000s Cartoon-Network fandom (or any of you left anyway), anyone out there?

I have a very large soft spot for cartoons - I am wondering if there are any more of you left these days.

I wonder how dead (or maybe alive) the golden age 2000s cartoon-network fandom is currently.

Go ahead and shout it out or make yourself known if you are one of these people left in the fandom (if it even exists anymore honestly XD - I really don't know as I am so new to this stuff despite growing up with these things).

Samurai Jack, Teen Titans, Ed Edd n Eddy, Courage the Cowardly Dog, Johnny Bravo, etc etc etc - let me know how I can navigate yall's fandom, the state of the fandom, current events, what a newcomer should know, etc etc - please don't be shy to share your wisdom and insights with your fellow enthusiast!

Aku. 悪。 His character design is so fun to draw! I couldn’t resist the urge to animate him a little bit too. The sound is just my vocals, which was a fun exercise in ambiance and imitating Mako (rest in peace). After watching the premiere episode of series 5, it’s good to see that the aesthetic and tone is still very present in this story even over 12 years later. Extremely excited for the conclusion of Jack’s journey. I have greatly missed Genndy Tartakovsky’s work in TV Animation, as he is one of my idols (which I am sure is true for many other artists as well). Dexter’s Lab, Sym-Bionic Titan, the 2D Clone Wars, and Samurai Jack hold up beautifully since his timing and sense of directing are distinctly unique. We could all learn a thing or two hundred from watching Genndy’s cartoons. Sad that Mako is not around to complete his role as the main antagonist, but I hope that the new voice actor does him justice. Aku is intellectual property of @adultswim @CartoonNetworkOfficial and Genndy Tartakovsky. Go see the new series, it’s been well worth the wait.
