My dad and I were talking yesterday about one of my family members and he was explaining to me how important it is to be valued in a relationship. He told me, “If you put five dollars in the bank and they only gave you three dollars back, you would be pissed, right? You wouldn’t bank there anymore, would you? They’re not giving you what you gave them.”
I thought that was a perfect analogy. To recognize your worth and the effort that you give. To demand more. To realize that relationships are two people- not one.
My dad’s a pretty smart man.
