I hope my blog gives you a headache

“If this hurts my shows I’m gonna riot” “they better not cancel my favorite show” “this is so selfish I NEED this show” “what about my mental health now that they—“

So you agree. Show-writers are important to you and to the industry and should be compensated accordingly for their important work.

i am LOSING IT over these photographs…… this is what cameras are for

[video description: a series of short process videos showing a photographer setting up little creatures made of acorns and sticks in various natural environments, designed to interact with the animals in the landscape either by placing them in areas animals frequent or placing birdseed or other lures that draw animals to sit on or near the creatures. each process video is followed by a photograph of the little acorn creature interacting with birds, butterflies, and chipmunks. each acorn creature has a joyful or surprised expression on its face. in the bottom right corner of the screen is a watermark reading “www.davidmbird.com” /end description]

Today read Baudrillard’s The Ecstacy of Communication and I got to “It is the end of interiority and intimacy, the overexposure and transparency of the world which traverses him without obstacle. He can no longer produce the limits of his own being, can no longer play nor stage himself, can no longer produce himself as mirror” and immediately I wondered why would I ever follow the love of my life on social media? i'm aware that the current flap of news stories about people shooting strangers for benign shit like ringing their doorbell or turning around in their driveway is probably due to increased reporting on an otherwise unchanged number of events, similar to how there were suddenly train crashes in the news every day after the east palestine derailment, but even so man, like, jesus christ we need to round up the portion of americans that've been whipped up into such an individualist frenzy that they become lethally angry/afraid the second another member of the society they live in gets near them and either put them in reeducation camps until they don't reach for the .40 at the sound of a doorbell anymore or set them up in some walled-off preserve in utah where they can live happily until they eventually all kill each other for things like waving hello or asking for help after an accident.

i honestly have nothing but disdain for these people, even if they're not yet brain-rotted enough to resort to murdering others for the slights they imagine. petulant adult children who are perfectly happy to drive on the roads, shop at the stores, draw power from the grid, and be healed by the doctors provided by the society that they live in, all the while behaving like cornered animals whenever it becomes apparent that they might have to share the world with their neighbors.

there are very few ancient artifacts that make me more emotional than roman tombstones that thank the reader for stopping by and wish them well. there's simply something so sweet and gentle to me about imagining a traveler stopping along the road to read someone's final dedication and being sent away with the blessings of a thankful ghost
