Can you give me some tips on getting my muse back?

Aww damn, you’ve lost your muse? I’m sorry baby, that sucks and sometimes takes a bloody age to get back {once I lost Sammy for almost a month, it was horrible}. Right, I’m not sure about anyone else, but this is what like to do when I lose my muse:

  • Watch episodes/films with your muse in. It sounds so simple but man does it work. Seriously just listen to their dialogue and watch their different mannerisms, habits and reactions to certain situations.
  • Read fanfiction/books. Not necessarily just the smutty stuff {although, we all know how awesome that is} but the gen fanfics too. Seriously, no writer would ever get anywhere without reading. Every writer’s learned from previous writer’s and maybe even begun to write in a similar style/borrowed their techniques etc. It really does help.
  • Listen to fanmixes/songs that remind you of your muse. This is what I like to do when I’m writing my replies {maybe the odd disney soundtrack too but that’s irrelevant *cough cough*}. For example, listen to sad songs for sad threads or if your character has a certain background, listen to a song that sings about a similar story etc.
  • Memes/Drabble prompts etc. Any short writing task to get you back in to the whole writing thing. Just write, write, write — even if you think it’s crap just write. But wait, what if no one’s sending you any prompts? The answer is who gives a crap? It’s their loss and you can just give yourself prompts instead. Viva la muse!!
  • If nothing else works, you can always try LARPing. I’m serious! Just give yourself an hour or maybe even a whole day where you’re totally in character. This’ll make you think about what your character would do or how they would react in everyday situations.

"Right. Calm down." But he couldn’t calm down. For all he knew Cas could be dying somewhere and he would even know, and on top of that Sam -his Sam- was wandering around, possessed by a fallen angel.  He couldn’t calm down. "He uh… You haven’t met him yet. He’s actually our best friend." He told Sam, trying to take his mind off of things.

He's a hunter then, I'm guessin'?" Sam speculated, suddenly very interested about who this 'Cas' figure was. "I'm surprised actually -- you're the one who keeps goin' on about it bein' too dangerous workin' with others. "

”It’s happened before, damn it!” He rose to his feet, his fists clenching at his sides. He didn’t have any time to waste, he needed to be with Sam, make sure he’s okay and go find Cas -whereever the hell he was. “You and Cas. A friend of ours…”

"Fine, God -- calm down." Sam retorted, sinking back down in to his chair. This older version of Dean was different and not in a good way. "I don't know anyone called Cas, unless ya mean Cassie." he mused.
