Eerie modern yukata/kimono by Furifu, depicting blooming manjushage (better known as higanbana/red spider lily) and what is described as a cute tokage (lizard).

Higanbana are linked to death imagery, because of buddhist higan equinoctial week (where Buddhist services are held and people go clean tombs), and the fact people once believed they bloomed on Sanzu river's shores.

I like to believe the little lizard could actually be a luck bringing yamori (gecko) thwarting the dark undertones - unless we agree on a more ominous imori yokai ;)?

ooh, "frayed edges" is a really good way to put it, thank you! and I think I get what you mean; his hair has much more of a, like, downward slope/arc and lots of little fluffy edges. I was bringing too much 80s glam rock into it. :') and also his ears are angled way more. hmm.

still thinking about the best way to draw him, but the way this event is going, I'm probably going to end up drawing these dorks a lot anyway! they're just fun!

+ bonus Gidel, his hair is spikier but I think I was having the same problems with him 😭

(these guys are very lucky that everyone at NRC 1) has the combined intelligence of a sack of bricks, and 2) is easily distracted by shiny things.)
