Solar Eclipse Magick

The solar eclipse reigns on Monday August 21, a shadowy goddess of truth and awakening. This eclipse is an illumination of the shadow self, a time where our awareness dives inward. It will reign under Leo, a fiery sign of courage and compassion. Deep radical love will rise and the emotional body will be tended to.

Cosmic Rituals:

Mantra Practice: I Trust. This is a powerful expression because it forces to release, let go, and to honor the flow of your life. Say this mantra throughout the day. Write it down, post it somewhere you can honor its reminder.

Candle Prayer: ignite the flame and watch it burn with such elegance. A divine notion of illuminating the darkness and your unconscious. Say a little prayer into the heat the rises, a whisper of your desire and intentions. Once you finish your prayer, blow out the cancel. Watch the smoke blend into the night.

Crystal Work:

  • Crystal Bath: soak with the crystals, their energy will infuser into the water. Aquamarine, Rose Quartz and Moonstone are the perfect combination for a goddess bath. Add in Peppermint or Lavender bath salt to enhance the healing energies.
  • Mediation: Hold your crystals, feel their energy. Spend time easing the mind into your haven, use your crystals to access chakras, past lives, and emotions that you feel need tended to.
  • Crystal Circle: cast a circle using small crystals or a crystal wand. Crafting or drawing the circle of energy for you to sit in will give you the space to work with your shadow self.
  • Alter: choose a goddess, crystals, and herbs that embody what you want to manifest. The solar eclipse is a time of change, growth, and bravery.

Journal: Write it all down. Every emotion, thought, and memory. Savor it all, embrace the pain and happiness that rises to the surface. Be kind and open with the emotional shadows that step into the light. Healing starts with vulnerability.

Listen to Your Cards: seek guide from your oracle and tarot cards. This is the perfect time to see what your guides/spiritual counsel want to say.

Yoga: step onto the mat and flow, sweat, and breathe. Connect your body and mind with each movement.

Psychic Exercises✨

things to do to increase psychic abilities. these are what i personally do as a claircognizant empath to enhance my knowledge of the world around me 🌻🌎💫

  • pull a daily tarot card, rune, or other divination device
  • sit down and paint something impressionistic. “but Mason!” you say, “I’m not an artist!!” well, bullshit. you don’t needa be artistic for this one, kiddos. i just use an index card and a small brush, then pick whatever colors im feeling that day. is it swirly? edgy? scattered? dark? light? interpret this, then reflect later to see if it was correct
  • think of a person you’re gonna see in the upcoming day. what outfit are they wearing? is their hair different? is there something in their teeth? write these things down, then see later if they are correct
  • meditate. yes yes i know, the dreaded tip. if you have adhd like me, or you just can’t sit still, do it while stretching, walking, cleaning, showering, or doing any monotonous work. even if it’s only for 3 minutes. just focus on what you hear, see, smell, feel, etc. it helps, trust me
  • keep a dream journal (yea i know, another dreaded tip)
  • write down every little thing that could maybe possibly be considered psychic. get a call from someone you were just thinking about? guessed what song would be next on shuffle? write it down
  • speaking of song guessing on shuffle, do it!! it’s simple and fun, even if you don’t get it right every time
  • spend more time with your divination tools, even if you aren’t actively using them. put them near your pillow (okay no lie this tip reeeeaaaallyyy helps), take them to work, put them next to your bath, whatever works for you
  • raise your vibration. and i know this can mean a lot of things for different people, and it also sounds rly hippy, but listen. what i mean is, constantly check yourself- your surroundings, your random thoughts, your emotions, etc. set an alarm to remind you to be more aware, if you gotta. if you are aware of what’s going on externally and within, you will be more prone to noticing your psychic tendencies
  • make your own sigils. this is one of the easiest form of magick, and can be done by anyone. make sigils for everything- “i am psychic,” “i am confident,” “i am suspected of secretly being Godzilla,” honestly everything. the point isn’t to make sigils that necessarily work, it’s just to sit down and put an intention into physical form. this is kinda like the painting one, except instead of thinking abt what could happen, you’re stating what will/is happening, which is important.
  • place a piece of amethyst on your forehead for a few seconds every night while laying in bed. doesn’t have to be too long, just long enough to let your muscles relax and let out all the tension from the day

and thats it! feel free to add more if you can think of something i didn’t put

A Long List of Ways to Spiritually Protect Yourself

(Updated from this old list here.)

Shielding is a practice entirely built on your intention–if you want an eternal shield, you can have it. If you believe in your shield, it will be there. There are many ways that are incredibly powerful with just the slightest trust and a little bit of practice. As soon as possible, start to practice shielding and methods of spiritual protection, since practice, along with your intention, will create the most powerful shields.

Also, you can never shield to much. It’s amazing and very empowering to have layer upon layer of shielding, and the energy and time you put into shielding will really save you a lot of energy and time in the future. Even just walking around, through crowds, cities, etc, drains your energy–negative energy is everywhere, and consciously seeking only the energy for your best and highest good will really, truly, and completely empower you.

You can shield from anything and everything, just make sure to allow in things for your “best and highest interest/good.” ShCast every shield with this affirmation. This allows what people would consider “negative” emotions to still come through, so you can live a balanced life, since not all emotions that are considered negative actually are. This affirmation effectively only allows things that raise or balance your vibration, and help you to spiritually evolve. It won’t cut you off from anything necessary. Shields themselves will never overwhelm or smother you, since they are meant solely for your needs and will always let in positive energy. Here are some simple methods to begin shielding, but you can always adopt them with your own needs and intentions! Do what works for you, just make sure to shield when practicing spirit or energy work of any sort.

Robe of White Light:

  • Focus for a moment on calming yourself, and once you have a clear mind, imagine a nice fluffy robe around you (I always imagine one like in the game Journey) made of white and protective light. This is the universe’s energy, and nothing ill can penetrate it once it is surrounding you.
  • It is recommended to repeat once or twice a day to maintain the shielding.
  • You can also use the affirmation of “I call upon a robe of loving and protective white light, knowing that it will protect me from all energy not in my highest interest. This robe protects me with the power of the Universe/Source/God.”

Guardian Protection:

  • Ask your guardian spirits (either aloud or through your mind) to protect you.
  • Always command that the guardians who help that they “come in light.” And if not, say they must leave. You don’t even have to know their name, but if they aren’t here to help, then they shouldn’t be around you. So just command this and all with ill intentions will be forced to leave.
  • Call on them for a need by need basis.

Auric Hardening:

  • Imagine your aura (trust whatever color you see in your mind’s eye), and then imagine it hardening, like it’s calcifying around you. It can get as hard as a rock, or like armor.
  • This can sometimes push away any energy exchanges, so you could feel more distant from positive interactions too. So, it’s best used when a threat is around
  • Usually lasts between 4 hours-2 days, depending on the strength of your intention.

Sigil warding:

  • Draw with a pen, marker, or with the tip of your finger (if you don’t need visible lines) a sigil with the intention of protecting yourself. A sigil is most basically an energetic line (or series of them) with an intention. The lines hold the energy and magnify the intention.
  • Here are examples
  • A post on sigil crafting

Shielding with Intention and the Universe:

  • Calm yourself with a short breathing meditation, then focus on what you intend to shield-yourself, another, or a place.
  • Imagine casting a ball of light towards the designated target, with the intention of allowing the Universe/Source to channel through you and shield whatever you intend to.
  • Just watch and observe as the shield is built, knowing that it is fully fueled by the energy of the Universe and will stay there, and stay strong, until the shield is released consciously by you.
  • You can specify this shield for certain purposes, like to only keep a spirit out, or to keep all negative spirits out.

Reiki Shielding and Protection:

  • In Usui Reiki, there is a technique your Reiki Masters should have taught you about warding and cleansing the room in white light. Channel Reiki energy to do this.
  • If you are attuned to Reiki II, you should know the 1st symbol and that it can be used to stop all energy that is not in your highest good from coming towards you, working as an effective shield when the symbol is called on.
  • You need to be properly attuned to Reiki for this.

Bubble shielding:

  • Similar to the white light or shielding with intention, but focusing on making and empowering a bubble around you.
  • Replenish this as often as possible, since this is dependent on your own care.
  • Can be in an oval or a sphere shape. If this is hard to get a hang of, then try just fitting it a couple inches away from your body, similar to auric hardening.

Waterfall shielding:

  • A bubble shield with the intention of existing on top of an underneath bubble shield.
  • Focus on this shield and set the intention of having it move around like a waterfall. This way, someone sending negative energy has a very small chance of hitting the same place twice.

Elemental shielding:

All of these are built with a specific intention and visualization of the shield. Time around such element used will strengthen the shield, or a conscious meditation to draw the energy towards you and the shield.

  • Fire shield: Envision burning fire, that will destroy all negative energy/energy not for your highest good, when it tries to enter your energetic space.
  • Water shield: Similar to the waterfall shield, but with the visual of actual water flowing that can wash away all negative debris or toxicity clinging to any form of bubble shield underneath it.
  • Earth shielding: This one can block off positive energy too, since it works more like a layer of earth around the person. Though, it can also be envisioned to only grow/manifest around you in times of need or when you’re being attacked or faced with negative energy. It can also block your third eye from seeing outside. Earth shielding can also work as a means of grounding you, which doesn’t have negative effects (as long as you don’t neglect your upper chakras). If you ground yourself to the earth, and your are harmed or shaken by negative energy, you can replenish your energy from the earth.
  • Air shielding: Envision a fast current of air around you that sweeps away all negative energy or malevolent beings.
  • Light shielding: A bright white light that totally purifies all energy that contacts it, similar to the robe of white light. Different colored lights can work too, but they all have specific purposes that you should research first.
  • Ether shielding: Sometimes this works like a portal, transporting all malevolent energy to another place in the universe. Just make sure to set the intention that things in your best and highest interest aren’t affected, and that the travel won’t severely harm anyone who is transported by the portal (since sometimes negative energy can come from just someone in a bad mood).
  • Chaos shielding: Not always considered an element, but with the idea of scattering any negative energy–the sudden increase in entropy raises the vibration to something more positive.
  • Shadow and smoke shielding: Imagining either element around you, mostly for cloaking and making your energy less obvious. This is great for astral projection and spiritual travel when you don’t want to be noticed. You can infuse the energy with an intention of how you want to be perceived, like if a threat comes, then you can suddenly raise this shield and make the smoke cause you to seem dangerous, scaring off the opponent.

Halo shielding:

  • Imagine a series of halos that spin quickly around you, moving to knock away negative energy if it approaches your space. This can be inside or outside of a bubble or light based shield.

Protection charms and enchanted objects:

  • Work made by you, when you have a lot of experience, in creating a sigil charm or enchanted object meant for protection. This can also be from someone who has passed down a family protection amulet (just research it and bathe it in light to clear any possible negative energy on it), or from an experienced energy worker making protection amulets, charms, or objects.
  • Some are religiously charged, like crosses, pentagrams, etc. If this matches your belief, your belief will empower it.

⚱️home protection black salt⚱️

hello dears!

this is my personal recipe for home protection black salt. there’s so many amazing posts and resources about black salt on tumblr and online, but if you don’t know what it is i suggest going here for @juniperwildwalk‘s incredible post on it!

my personal recipe is one that i’ve made so that it’s dedicated to home protection. i use -

  • incense ash (usually from sandalwood for boosted protection powers)
  • sea salt
  • black pepper (protective)
  • cayenne pepper (fiery, gives it a bit of a boost)
  • ashes from burnt protective sigils
  • charcoal (usually from the wood i burn in my fire at home)

once i have all of my ingredients i just mix it all up in a tub, usually by shaking it, and store it in a dry dark place! its protective powers won’t last forever, though, so keep topping it up.

uses -

  • put in witch bottles to protect your home
  • use as an ingredient in protective spells
  • sprinkle by doorways and windowsills (not for pet-keeping households!)
  • dissolve in a little bit of water (moon water works great!) and use as paint for protective sigils
  • gives an extra boost to negativity-absorbing jar spells

black salt is literally one of my favourite all-purpose witchy items to have around the house. let me know if you use it in other ways! i’d love to hear from you.

Samhain is comiiiiiinggggg and i’m one excited witch!

Samhain (pronounced ‘sow-in’) is drawing very near, and as its my favorite holiday i can’t seem to make enough posts about it. It begins at midnight on October 31st, and celebrations often go on until November 2nd. It is the witches new year!

Some historic traditions:

Just like at Beltane, bonfires are lit in high places on Samhain, like at hilltops, and around them rituals would take place. During this community ritual, people would take flames from the bonfire and use them to relight the hearths of their homes. They did this to bind the community together. They would also use these fires for divination in their rituals.

In Gaelic regions, during household festivities many rituals that took place were intended to divine the future of everyone there, for example apple bobbing. (If you don’t already know this, Apples are strongly associated with ancestors and the other world.) The first to bite into an apple was the next allowed to marry!

As you most likely have heard a zillion times, The veil between our world and the next is thinner on Samhain. This is true, Samhain is  a liminal time, and that means the barriers separating the world of the living and the dead and other spirits can be crossed more easily than at any other point in the year. It is said that entities called ‘Aos Si’ can slip from their world into ours, through a summoning or their own will. During Samhain it is traditional to leave libations for any aos si that have come into our realm. This is usually in the form of food & drink, like a plate of soul cakes, a small portion of a meal and a cup of wine. Due to this thin veil, it is a time for honoring those who have passed. It is widely believed spirits of loved ones will come and visit their former homes and seek hospitality from those within. Places should always be set for loved ones who have passed at the table on Samhain. I even set a place for a spirit I feel in my home. People will often hold a “dumb supper”. It is a silent meal during which you set a place for visiting spirits, and invite them to join you.

Traditional Samhain Activities

Bobbing for Apples- The fewer tries it took to catch an apple, the sooner you’d fall in love or marry. If the apple was crisp and crunchy, the participant would have a happy marriage. If it was soft or rotten, it was bad news for your love life future.

Peeling the Apple- You peel one long strip of skin from an apple and then throw the peel over your shoulder. Whatever letter the peel resembles is said to be the first letter of your soulmates name.

Hazelnut Divination- Couples would throw hazelnuts into a fire, and if it burned it predicted a long and happy relationship, and if it cracked open it showed a rocky road ahead.

Samhain Correspondences

Colors: Red, brown, gold, yellow and orange.

Herbs: Rosemary, mullein, rue, mugwort, calendula, tobacco, apple leaf, sage, wormwood, tarragon, bay leaf, almond, hazelnut, garlic, mandrake root, yew, sandalwood, pumpkin, pennyroyal, pine needle, cedar, chrysanthemum, & hemlock.

Symbols: Lanterns, candles, acorns, bones, photos or memoirs of passed loved ones, Jack O’ Lanterns, corn dolls and corn stalks, scythes, cauldrons, spiderwebs, masks, oak leaves and mirrors.

Food & Drinks: Apples (or foods with apples baked in), potatoes, corn, nuts, turnips, pumpkins, mead, cider, mulled/spiced wine, tea.

Things to do: DIVINATIOOOON GIRLLL(scrying, tarot reading, rune casting, pendulum reading, etc.), holding a dumb supper, lighting a bonfire, looking into your past life, leaving offerings for spirits, cooking, feasting, dressing up in a costume.

Stones & Crystals: Obsidian, Onyx, petrified wood, hematite, smokey quartz, bloodstone, clear quartz, garnet, carnelian, amber, sandstone.

Animals: Black cats, owls, bats, stags, ravens, crows, spiders and black dogs.

I would like to add a note to be cautious on Samhain. If you have a black pet please keep it inside, lots of sick people will harm these animals on this night. Please be careful with spirit work as well, the veil is very thin and as you would normally with spirit work protect yourself, but x10 on samhain. Carry a gris-gris, Create your circles, Keep blessed salt around, Make sure you end conversations with the Ouija and it won’t hurt to keep a silver coin on it, like they say it keeps evil spirits from coming through.  Treat spirits, creatures and humans around you with respect.

Blessed be, I hope everyone enjoys Samhain!! Note your favorite samhain activities and traditions, and please note any traditions passed down to you!

Introducing Yourself to Aphrodite

So you decided it’s time to introduce yourself to the beautiful Aphrodite! Yay! This is cause for celebration, but not for fear. You have no reason to be worried because I promise you that it’s not as scary as it seems. Before we get to the good part I want to make a very important note.

Introducing yourself to Aphrodite does not equal devoting yourself to Aphrodite

What I mean by this is that just because you introduce yourself to Aphrodite doesn’t mean you are automatically devoted to her. This means you don’t have to worry about making a HUGE commitment if you don’t feel like you are ready. By introducing yourself you are simply making Aphrodite aware that you are interested in some sort of relationship. Think of it like any of the relationships in your life whether friendship or romantic. They all started with an introduction which then follows with the getting to know each other period and it’s during that period you figure out what kind of relationship you want with that person if you want one at all. So equate this as simply saying “Hi, my name is______”

Now on to the real reason you’re reading this!

What you will need for the introduction:

  • Representation – This can be anything. And I mean ANYTHING. As long you look at it and think APHRODITE that’s all that matters.
  • Offering – This doesn’t need to be elaborate. Candle or incense will do just fine

Once you have your representation and offering find a good clean spot to place them and for you to do the introduction. Now you have to decide what you want to say. This is really up to you. You can say as little or as much as you want. Here’s an example of a basic introduction:

Aphrodite, Goddess of love and beauty, my name is ______ and I give you this offering.

And that’s it! Seriously, that’s all there is to it! You can add more if you would like and talk to her longer. You could tell her more about yourself and feel free to compliment her by saying all the things you like about her (she LOVES that), but it isn’t necessary. Just do whatever feels right for you and you will be fine!

Quick note on epithets. Some other devotees would strongly suggest you use epithets especially for an introduction. Using them makes you sound more formal and respectful so you may wish to add one or two. The only reason I’m not saying its absolutely mandatory is because I didn’t use epithets when I did my introduction, so you can make that decision for yourself.

Now go introduce yourself! <3

how I create my spells

hey everyone! How I create my spells has been a hot topic on this blog recently. Spending time to create my own spells is one of the things that I love most about witchcraft - and I highly recommend giving it a go. So this post is a combination of the process that I use when writing my own spells, and also some random tips which may be useful. If you have any questions, feel free to ask me!

The process:

For me a spell has four main parts: an intent, something which charges the spell and supplies the energy, ingredients/items which transmute the energy to your intent, and a way that your spell is brought together or contained. From this, spells can be made in a limitless amount of ways.

  • The first thing to do when creating your spell is to determine what the intent is. Write down the intent for your spell and make sure it’s clear and concise.
  • Once you have your intent, determine what type of spell that you want to create. Examples of these include spell jars, spell sachets, potions, charmed objects or jewellery…
  • After this, think about ingredients that you own that fit with your intent - these make up the basis of your spell and help to transmute the energy to your intent. Examples of these ingredients are iron nails for protection, bay laurel for wish granting.
  • The next thing is to work out what way your spell will be charged. Examples of this include crystals, stones, salt, using a wand or athame, asking a deity for help.
  • Once you have decided these things, you can gather your ingredients and prepare to perform your spell.

Other tips:

  • Remember to cleanse yourself, your space and your items before you perform your spells. This can be as simple as you like - i.e using a sigil.
  • You can also use sigils to make your intent clear, or replace the wording of your intent.
  • You can also ask your deities or spirits to help you with spells, if you work with any. Depending on the theme of your spell, some deities may be more suited than others.
  • Decide if you want to perform your spell on a specific day of the week, Sabbat or moon phase. Certain times of the year lend themselves to specific intents.
  • Do research on tumblr, online and from books. See how other people spells are structured and draw inspiration from this.

Ta-da! I hope that this post can be helpful to some of you. Let me know how you get on with creating your own spells!

Five Rules to Interacting with Faeries

The first is be aware that names have power, give yourself a nickname or give no name at all

The second is do not accept anything edible from a faery, to eat from the land of fae is to lock yourself from the land of mortals

The third is regarding information. If a faery gives you information, do not thank them. You may say you appreciate their assistance, but thanking is tantamount to admitting a debt owed

The fourth is about accepting gifts. Be very cautious when doing so, many gifts will have unforeseen side effects. If a gift is offered, accept it, but if you do not trust the one who offered it do not hesitate to destroy it. Salt water is always a good cleanser

The fifth is how to speak without offense. Most fae are very old, this means propriety is very important. Grudges can be held for centuries when you live a millenia. If you do not wish to do something the way you refuse is critical. Be polite, anything less may land you in hot water
