Friendly PSA to reddit refugees: please be aware that you are on The Queer Website(™). And while I would say the whole blue hair and pronouns tumblr sjw perception many people had on reddit is somewhat exaggerated, it is absolutely true that the user base (at least the part that makes good posts) tends to skew towards non-men and non-cishet people. Which is all to say, it's best if you get into the habit of checking people's pronouns. They're usually found in people's header so it's not really much effort. (And look, I know it was site culture to refer to everyone as "sir" and with he/him on reddit. But not the site culture here, and you're going to make people uncomfortable if you go around he/him'ing people). Or you can always phrase your comments neutrally (coming up with ridiculous neutrals for gendered words is absolutely part of tumblr culture, so go off). But yeah, just don't be an asshole and you'll be fine
Perhaps the funniest thing that could have happened lately was that this anticapitalist cafe and community space near my place was shutting down near the end of May - but because so many Texas and Florida conservatives celebrated it online, the place got a huge donation to keep operating
It's a great place. It functions mostly like a regular cafe but it has this free/pay what you want drip coffee for anyone who wants it, free bathroom use, and it stocks indie merch and books on antifascist, queer, leftist, socialist, indigenous topics. I've met a lot of awesome people there.
Its very existence enrages conservatives, and anarchocapitalists who tried to claim it only to be shown the middle finger by its anticapitalist owner, who is an all around nice dude (and a fellow Elden Ring fan)
If you can toss a coin to its continued operation, please do! Upon request from their followers on insta they opened a Gofundme. Even just a few dollars will be a huge help.

It’s never a good time for any app to replicate Twitter but I find it especially mind-boggling that Tumblr and fucking Discord are backpedalling on all of their unique and good features in order to become a clone of a website that is actively losing money and most of their userbase.
Discord is especially egregious considering that it’s NOT EVEN A FUCKING SOCIAL MEDIA WEBSITE. IT’S A GODDAMN MESSAGING APP. It’d be like if whatsapp decided to recommend other family group chats for you via an algorithm

My guys it is starting to work, I've seen some people I know complaining about the writer's strike and turning against them because their favorite shows and/or movie got put on hold. Please do not be fooled like this, this is exactly what the corporations want. It can wait, I promise you will find other things to focus, but writers need this.
Reword every headline they put out. “Due to not wanting to give writers money, Marvel has shut down pre-production on…” You can end this strike any time you want to, pal.
