It was months of Bucky looking and worrying over a pregnant Tony and very long hours of painful contractions when Peter was finally born. Peter James (after his father and his uncle Rhodey) Stark-Barnes was born at 2:47am on a Saturday a week and a half away from his due date. But A very exhausted yet joyful Tony and Bucky couldn’t be any more happy or content for once in thier lifes.

Tony was so exhausted that he falls asleep while their holding the baby but Bucky cuts the cords and waits patiently for the nurses to get done cleaning his son and doing their quick routine check up for Peter. Once Bucky has his sleeping son in his arms and makes sure Tony is still sleeping, which the other truly needed to be doing, Bucky makes his way out the other avengers. 

Bucky is so fill of pride and love that whenever he shows anyone Peter he says, “look at ‘em! This is my boy…. He’s my son!”. Steve laughs at how much Bucky looks like he used to before the whole Hydra thing but keeps it to himself. 

Everyone becomes Peters aunt or uncle and spend time fighting over who’s turn it was to hold the bundle of joy. Tony and Bucky always step in when it seems to be getting to intense for their liking and take the baby for a nap or feeding, which always seems to be believed by all the other avengers.

But Bucky, Tony, and Peter are just so content with their family and life’s that they wouldn’t want to change a single thing…. That is…. Until Harley is born two years later.

Tony was his friend first.

Bucky knows that he sounds like a jealous little child but Tony was his friend first. It was kind of a funny story actually because in the beginning he didn’t want to do anything with Tony.  Everything started when his parents send Bucky and his sisters to their uncle’s summer house in the Malibu. It was nothing fancy but girls were excited. Bucky hated every second of it, he didn’t want to leave Brooklyn and Steve. He just became friends with Steve and he didn’t want to lose his only friend, his best friend in the whole world. He was afraid of that when he comes back Steve would be forget Bucky and find new friends. His father laughs when he talks about them and says “You are only nine years old James. You will have a lot of best friends and maybe you will find another friend in Malibu. But I don’t think Steve will forget about you, and when you come back you will have lots of stories you can tell Steve.”

So Bucky goes to Malibu where he meets Tony. His uncle and Mr. Jarvis (his uncle’s old friend) tries their best, but Bucky shoots down all of their ideas with a burning hatred. Tony doesn’t understand why Bucky hates him, and he tries his best but Bucky acts like he doesn’t even acknowledge Tony’s existence. Whenever he thinks about those days Bucky kind of hates his little self, he wasted so many days he could spend with Tony.

One day Bucky doesn’t even remember why he hates Tony and starts to give him a chance and that changes everything. After that, days goes so fast Bucky doesn’t even realize summer ends and it is time to go home. He doesn’t want to leave Tony; they promise that they will write each other. Bucky goes back to Brooklyn and when Steve asks him about his summer Bucky doesn’t talk about Tony. And years go by like that, Bucky spends his summers in Malibu with Tony and they became best friends.

He doesn’t talk about Tony with Steve even though he shares everything with Steve. It just Tony is his, and when he shares it with Steve he thinks he will lose what they have with Tony. He knows it doesn’t make sense, so he talks about it with his sister. She laughs and tells him he is jealous because he is in love with Tony. But that can’t be right so he turns around and leaves her room. Maybe he shouldn’t talk about it with anyone yet.

Of course that’s when everything changes, after their second year started Tony transfers Bucky’s school. Tony is excited to meet all of Bucky’s friends who Bucky talks about all the time. Especially Steve Rogers. It doesn’t take long time to realize that even though Tony knows lots of things about Bucky’s friends they know nothing about Tony. At first Tony is a little bit heartbroken but of course he doesn’t show that. He is going to earn his place in Bucky’s group. It can’t be that hard. After a few months Tony becomes friends with almost all of them. Tony and Clint love to prank other people, with Bruce they share love for science, and with Thor they bond over their movie preferences much to everyone surprise. But Natasha surprises Bucky the most. Tony and Nat become good friends and they spend most of their time together. Bucky is happy for Tony because he knows how much Tony needs friends, but he can’t help himself to feel a little bit jealous.

There is only one person in their group who can’t stand Tony is Steve. They hate each other, whenever they talk more than ten minutes it turns into a screaming match. And it hurts Bucky; he wants to his two of best friends love each other or at least not hates each other. At this point he would be happy if they were just civil enough to hold a conversation without yelling. Honestly before he opens about his feelings to Tony he needs to fix things between his best friend and hopefully his boyfriend.

So imagine Bucky’s surprise when he comes late for one of their study sessions and finds Tony and Steve making out.

[Tony walks away]

Bucky: Woo, that is pretty to look at

Steve: That’s a nice ass

Clint: I tell ya - if I had to… I would

Bucky, running after Tony: I’m gonna

Steve: I’ll join you

Clint, following: All right, I’ll watch

Bucky: Sure hope I don’t sprain my arm during the race. ‘Cause I’m gonna be opening up a lot of doors for Tony on our date. Oh yeah, I’m gonna be a gentleman.

Rhodey: What are you doing, Barnes?

Bucky: Trash talking you. While simultaneously proving that I will be respectful of your friend, it’s a tough line to walk.

Bucky: You know what? I don’t have to stand here and take this crap.

Tony: Where the hell do you think you’re going?

Bucky: Isn’t sex after fighting kind of what we do now?

Tony: Well, kind of, yeah.

Bucky: [to Steve] Tony might be afraid of his Aunt Peggy, but I am not.

Peggy: [answers phone] Hello?

Tony: And now welcome to the first annual affection games, remember this fight is to the surrender not the death. If you kill someone you’re disqualified.

Everyone: [grumbles unintelligible curses under their breath]

Tony: [continuing his introduction] Winner will get 5 kisses and a movie night of cuddles.

Bucky: Y’all are going down.

Steve: You wish! I’m winning this obviously.

Loki: Foolish mortals, do you truly believe you can beat a god?

Pepper: [glares at them all until they back off, then carries Tony away bridal style into the sunset]

Bucky admits to Tony that he doesn’t want a haircut, because he doesn’t trust some stranger to be that close to his neck with a pair of scissors. So Tony drags him into the bathroom, rifles in the cabinets under the sink, and reveals a small barbers kit with a short explanation of “it was a phase in college”. After the haircut Bucky goes from “I will fucking end you”

to “I will fuck you”.
