enjoy my cultural-xtianity annoyance poll for today. plz behave in the notes.

I avoid writing the word "christ" where possible bc I am jewish and using the word that indicates Jesus is the moshiach and possibly devine is, for me, a form of idolatry. thanks.

this is for everyone, we're all negatively affected by xtian hegemony, this is why I tried to avoid things that were jewish-specific (for example Muslims and other groups avoid pork just as much as Jewish ppl do)

completely not for any religious reasons but fuck pork

So... you are a person qith disability because you wanted to be one? Or am I wrong?

Endos are not ppl with disabilities, because being an endo "system" isn't a disability.

Quick question or two: how do you feel about the neurodiversity movement? Do you think an autistic person who doesn't view their autism as disordered can't experience ableism?

Another couple too, actually: Do you think someone who has a condition, let's say fibromyalgia, and doesn't consider it a disability for them can't experience ableism because of their condition? Some folks with chronic illness don't consider themselves disabled. Can they not experience ableism?

Experiencing albeism is a choice, in my opinion. You can take someone's words as offending to you or not. In general, albeism is a bad thing but if someone doesn't feel disabled, then it won't affect them as much?

But living as an endogenics, it's like chopping off your leg to... I don't know, fit in? Because it's a trend? Because you'd have a fancy looking artificial leg to show off? No. Having DID/OSDD caused by actual trauma is NOT fun and games...

There's no words. "experiencing ableism is a choice", jesus christ. How are you not so incredibly horribly embarrassed right now

Do these people not realize this is literally mirroring like, abuser shit at minimum?

Also wowyikes "actual trauma" as if we didnt spend years as an endogenic also analyzing our trauma, and yes, we've been abused, but we also determined we're still endogenic regardless of that.

And also that our being endogenic wasn't a choice, we're very much born-as.

(Mainly we're stating all of this and reblogging this shite for posterity in case these assholes try to back out of it LOL.)

Can I just see if I can follow that "experiencing ableism is a choice" thing to its logical conclusion?

By their logic, experiencing ableism is a result of seeing yourself as disordered... so if DID systems stop seeing themselves as disordered then they can't experience ableism? They're just immune?

Is that... what they're going with? Because that feels more like an argument for more people identifying as non-disordered to me. 🤔

Regardless of their silly logic, they're also completely missing the point of the original post.

If a singlet sees themselves as a spiritual entity, that's pretty fine usually. It's normal. If a member of system does, that's treated as being wrong. Many DID and OSDD systems have some members who view themselves through spiritual lenses. Society tells these headmates that their spiritual or religious and beliefs aren't valid.

That's discrimination against DID and OSDD systems.

That is the ableism.

"Experiencing ableism is a choice"?? Seriously?? I'm not even mad at this because OP used my post as a great excuse to out themselves as EXTREMELY ableist, so honestly, I'm happy they grabbed it. We are a disordered system with traumagenic origins as well as autistic, ADHD, and physically disabled in multiple directions. It's absolutely laughable that you took "systems" and decided I meant "endogenics only". No. I meant disordered and traumagenic systems too. Stop denying disabled people agency to their spirituality lmfao. What a fucking idiot. Thanks for showing the world how blatantly horrific you are <3

thinking about weird cultural shit around sexuality/swear words/etc etc and how wild it is that i have to teach my phone’s autocorrect to let me say “fuck”. thats a thing i have to do. my phone will go “Nuh-uh, you naughty so-and-so, you can’t say that!” until i tell it enough times that Yes, Actually, I Don’t Mean Ducking and how fucking wild that is. earlier today i had to convince my phone that “hickies” was a word. hickies is too explicit for my phone to include in its default dictionary. but yknow what? it always capitalizes YouTube correctly.

PSA: tomatoes are not spicy. Tomatoes and tomato products should not be spicy. Pizza sauce isn’t inherently spicy. Tomato-based pasta sauce is not spicy. Ketchup is NOT spicy.

If tomatoes are spicy, you have an allergy to tomatoes.

This announcement brought to you by my almost 29-year-old husband learning for the first time in his 2.8 decades of putting food products into his mouth that spaghetti and saucy pizza aren’t spicy foods

Seeing the tags on this as it’s going around again, so I have returned to say a few things:

  • If your mouth hurts, feels raw, or itches when you eat something, please don’t eat it! It might not be a full-blown allergy, could be something like a sensitivity to the acid content or maybe even Oral Allergy Syndrome, but also, you might very well be allergic. Unless it’s explicitly designed to be sour or spicy, it’s not supposed to do that.
  • Bananas are not spicy, prickly, or tingly! Kiwi is not unbearably sour and tingly! You people probably have an allergy! Stop eating the death fruits!
  • Mango and pineapple are a little odd. A lot of people react to pineapple because of an enzyme it contains which breaks down proteins; depending on your sensitivity level, it can make it feel like your mouth is being dissolved, because that’s kind of maybe what’s happening? You might not have a full-blown systemic allergy, but if it hurts, listen to your mouth and respect its stopping point. Mango has a compound super similar to urushiol, which is the stuff in poison ivy. A lot of people get oral allergy symptoms with fresh mango. Again, not necessarily a systemic allergy, but also, your body doesn’t like that. Please listen to your body.
  • Honey is not naturally spicy, sour, or tingly. (Spicy and infused honeys do exist, but I’m talking plain honey.) It might be a bit rich/overly sweet, but no, it should not make your tongue funny, ‘prickle,’ or otherwise hurt your mouth. You are probably allergic to honey. (insert “ghost bees” post here lol)
  • Many peppers are spicy, but bell peppers are not. Repeat after me: Bell Peppers Are Not Spicy. If they are spicy, you are probably allergic! This is yet another one my husband learned recently. Bell peppers/capsicum are also called sweet peppers, because they are sweet.
  • On that note, here’s a handy metric: If you find yourself wondering how people just looooove this food, or how they always fail to mention the weird sensory feature about it–primarily the spiciness, ‘fuzziness’ in mouth, or pain it causes–your experience is probably out of the ordinary and could very well be some kind of allergy.

And now, an update on my husband’s journey of allergen discovery, because I’m sensing from the tags and comments this might be relevant to a lot of y’all.

Yes, he is definitely allergic to tomatoes. Went and got him allergy tested to confirm it, and it came back pretty darn high on the list. Along with a crapton of other foods he’d been eating his entire life. We immediately got rid of all of those things in our diet, and wouldn’t you know it, his lifelong “IBS” went away.

So here’s a further PSA.

If you have “IBS” or a “sensitive stomach,” try to get tested for food allergies, too. Not all food allergies send you into anaphylaxis. Sometimes they give you smelly gas, diarrhea, constipation, acid reflux, recurrent tummyaches, nausea, and headaches. And it doesn’t always happen right away, sometimes taking several hours or most of a day to produce the unpleasant results, so you might not be noticing what your specific triggers are.

Also, I see all you people in the tags talking about how you’re gonna eat your allergens anyway. Please don’t do that, unless you’re 100% medically sure it’s just something like a surface sensitivity to enzymes or an oral reaction that’s not actually an allergy. Eating your allergens all the time inflames your whole system, and it can cause a lot of damage that takes a long time to heal. Be kind to your body, friends. You live there.

Booooost

Um…how about the lives of anyone who’s been convicted of a felony charge? Even people who were ‘rightly’ convicted should get a chance to turn their lives around. And that’s also true whether or not they’re black. The ways in which convicted felons’ lives are destroyed even after serving their sentences are appalling.

List Of Jobs That Hire Felons In 2023

Many people with a criminal record ask “Are there any good jobs for felons?”

The short and reassuring answer is – Yes, of course there are companies that hire felons! The long answer is that you need to know what type of work you have the best chances of getting, because MANY jobs are not open to ex cons.

When you are out looking for work, your first instinct may be to apply for a job at a local big box store, such as Walmart, Costco (which has a $14/hr starting pay), Home Depot, etc. or a fast food chain restaurant, such as McDonald’s or KFC, etc.

You may be disappointed and shocked when all of these places turn you down. The reason is simple: these are big corporations and their hiring policies is not felon-friendly. They have hundreds of other applicants to choose from who don’t have a criminal past.

What Are The Best Jobs For felons?

Now you may wonder – are there jobs where I have a stronger chance of being hired with a felony?

Indeed, there are! Any job where you don’t have direct contact with customers is a better fit for a felon. The good news is that these jobs often pay better ($12-30 per hour) and usually require some technical skills and/or knowledge.

For example, many factories like to employ ex-cons, because these companies take advantage of the federal tax breaks they receive from hiring a felon.

Don’t worry, your opportunities are not limited to factories alone. Other positions such as a truck driver, electrician/plumber apprentice, building/roofing contractor, taxi driver, food or package delivery, construction and trade jobs, data support/analyst, etc may be available, if you have the right skills and are willing to learn.

Moreover, if you get higher education you will be more likely to land a job despite your felonies. Mostly because those with an education have a broader range of skills and past professional experience.

If you don’t have an education, we strongly recommend taking classes at a local technical college or trade school.

Many offenders that we know are taking engineering classes. Within a year they are working in a factory making around $15-17 an hour. We have seen this time and time again.

Coding, computer programming, accounting and graphic design skills are also in high demand in the current work market place.

Here is a list of additional employment opportunities to consider

Freelance Jobs for Felons

Roofing Jobs for Felons

Temp Agency Jobs for Felons

Medical Jobs for Felons

When you look for jobs, try to apply to places that may skip the background check or will do a very limited one.

As you may have already discovered, failing the criminal background check is the SINGLE factor that prevents most felons from finding decent paying employment, or any job at all for that matter!

Small businesses that employ felons

It may come as a surprise, but many small owner operated business are often willing to give felons another chance. Of course, this depends on what your past crime is, the circumstances around it, as well as your overall knowledge and skills.

As you will see from the list, these business are usually professional trade or construction companies, that are always looking for new workers. The owner wants to see someone honest, very hard working, punctual, and eager to learn new skills.

If you are willing to get on the job training, eventually you can get a much better paying job at this or a different (larger) company as a foreman or project manager ($30+ per hour).

Oil companies hiring felons

If none of the local companies want to hire you because of your felony conviction, consider going to work for an oil company. They are more open to hiring felons and the pay is very high ($30 per hour+) because these are very challenging jobs and very few people want them.

Many companies, such as ExxonMobile, also offer apprenticeships and on the job training to attract candidates that are interested in these jobs.

Jobs in the oil/fracking industry include:

Fracking equipment operator

Oil field operator

Derrick hand

Floorhand/leasehand/roustabout

Mechanical assembler

Hot oil operator

Tank driver

Truck driver

Water transfer operator

The oil industry is booming in the US and its continuously creating new jobs to keep up with the growing demand for oil.

This is good news for felons looking for work, because they have a much higher chance of getting hired in the oil sector, compared to other industries.

List of oil companies that accept employees with felony convictions

The following fracking oil companies are hiring felons to fill many on the positions that are currently in extremely high demand in the fracking industry.

ExxonMobile

Chevron

Halliburton

Conoco Phillips

ATI

Eastern Propane

ENSERVCO

Bosque Systems

Honstein Oil and Distributing

Arnold Oil Company Fuels

Most of the oil jobs are located in Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, California, Utah, Colorado, North Dakota, Wyoming, New Mexico and Alaska.

Passing The Background Check For Employment

What you need to understand is that most entry-level, minimum wage positions (under $11-12 per hour) in big corporations are much harder for felons to get than similar jobs in a smaller company.

This is because in most of these jobs, be it retail or food service, you will need to have direct contact with customers. Employers get very nervous about this and don’t want to run the risk of exposing their clients to a felon.

Another reason of course is the background check. Even if you do well on the interview, the corporate background check is very extensive, and the policy is usually to turn down everyone who fails the background check.

Even if its been 10 years or more since your conviction, many of these jobs will turn you down, even though on their applications they state that they are an equal opportunity employer. This is because many states report criminal charges that over 10 years old and these still show up on the background check.

Having said this, you should still APPLY to all local open positions in the area, where you would be qualified to work. The more you apply, the higher your chances that someone will hire you, despite the felony charges.

In many instances, if you have a marketable skill (such as computer related, or construction), it will often be easier to do freelance work online, or start your own business. In this case, you can avoid the background check all together.

Improving Credit Can Help A felon Get A Better Job

A little known secret is that many companies like to run a credit check on a potential applicant to see if they have good credit. This indicator helps hiring managers determine how trustworthy someone is.

Of course, many felons struggle with really poor credit and have credit scores that are bellow 300!!!! This fact in addition to the background check really lowers a felon’s chances of getting a job.

However, while there is very little most ex cons can do about their background check, there is A LOT to be done about repairing your poor credit. Yes its very hard and takes mindful spending, time and effort. However, many people have bounced back from really bad credit and even bankruptcy, so you can do it if you put your mind to it.

If you are determined to fix your credit, read our step by step guide on how to get from a low to an excellent credit score.

Best of luck in your job search. Let us know your experience with any of the above companies, or a company that we should add to this list.

If this article has helped you out in anyway please share it on your social media or email it to other felons that you may know. Together we can find good work and get a fresh start in our lives!

Im pretty sure this will help🤍

RB!!

40,000 years ago, early humans painted hands on the wall of a cave. This morning, my baby cousin began finger painting. All of recorded history happened between these two paintings of human hands. The Nazca Lines and the Mona Lisa. The first TransAtlantic flight and the first voyage to the Moon. Humanity invented the wheel, the telescope, and the nuclear bomb. We eradicated wild poliovirus types 2 and 3. We discovered radio waves, dinosaurs, and the laws of thermodynamics. Freedom Riders crossed the South. Hippies burned their draft cards. Countless genocides, scientific advancements, migrations, and rebellions. More than a hundred billion humans lived and died between these two paintings—one on a sheet of paper, and one on the inside of a cave. At the dawn of time, ancient humans stretched out their hands. And this morning, a child reached back.

HUGE DASHBOARD UNFUCKER UPDATE!!!

I'll spare you the boring details, but up until now, the script has reverted the vertical nav update by essentially waiting for the page to load most of the way, and then quickly moving everything back to where it should be. This works decently fine of course, but of course there are issues with feature parity when it comes to things that Tumblr removes outright. And every time Tumblr removes another feature, I have to manually spend anywhere from minutes to hours trying to replace it.

HOWEVER, update 3.0 does away with all of that by simply disabling the flag that marks your account as part of the vertical nav beta test before the page loads. This reverts your dashboard to the proper layout without shuffling anything around after the page loads and effectively disables the vertical navigation layout and all future updates to it.

I owe a massive thanks to @twilight-sparkle-irl for knowing how to deobfusticate Tumblr's hidden settings! I couldn't have done this without your work!!!

i'll come back to this when i have the braincells, but: any little transgender girl who tried on her sister's dresses while the family was out of the house, any little transgender boy who stole his dad's tie and paraded around the empty room full of euphoria, are no more pure, and no "better", than any little transabled kid who sat in their sibling's wheelchair while they were in the bath and felt right for the first time, any little trace kid who borrowed their mom's makeup and painted their skin the right color with eyeshadow and blush and lipstick and cried when they had to wash it off.

[TransID Tips] -TransDeity- These can be used to ease dysphoria, feel more euphoria, or simply connect with ones identity. ---

  • Consider your history. Whether you were a deity in a past life or wish to be one now, think about creating yourself a story or working on past life memories. As always be careful with past life memory work.
  • Consider your symbols. What represents you as a deity? How might your followers have or how would you liked them to have celebrated or represented you. What sorts of animals, plants, and omens or signs would your followers represent you with?
  • Moodboards. If you've figured out your symbols, history, or other things, consider making a moodboard or visual representation of your identity.
  • Audios. If you prefer or would just enjoy it, find audios that connect you to your deity identity. If you were an ocean god, find ocean audios, or thunderstorms for gods of storms. Perhaps consider using programs like audacity to combine sounds for yourself, depending on what works best for you.
  • Find friends or others willing to do little offerings or other things to affirm your identity. This can range from them simply respecting and affirming your identity by referring to you in preferred ways, or sending you small gifts relating to your symbols, like edits or crafts.
  • Affirm yourself. This one is basic, there's nobody better to define you and your reality than yourself.

idk man i think that if you can read dozens and dozens of trans men talking about how their support systems abandoned them when they started getting too masculine on T or had top surgery or whatever, and queer spaces started treating them like threats or potential predators, and you find these stories going back to the 90s or even earlier, and you read all of that and come away thinking that there’s nothing wrong with how progressive communities treat men, you are just fundamentally beyond help dude. you don’t see us as people

a lot of people are somehow misinterpreting this post as saying that trans women Don't experience alienation or ostracization from queer, feminist, and/or progressive communities, to which i say: i am not responsible for your belief that trans men and trans women have to have entirely separate and opposite experiences. if you think that trans men experiencing something implies that trans women can't experience it, that's on you! you might want to sit and have a think about how you see the world and whether or not you're buying into the (deeply patriarchal!) idea that men and women are entirely separate from each other. you might learn something.
