here’s a sad dinosaur fact for you all: learnplay, the company that made those little toys that split in half with the cartoony skeletons inside (many of which were dinosaurs) is going out of business. you can grab what’s left of their inventory here.
this lawn decoration strikes me as poor taste, as it is quite well-known that the meteor hit on december 23rd that year, before most dinosaurs got a chance to open their presents.
CORONOSAURUS “Crown lizard” Late Cretaceous, 77 million years ago
This ceratopsid was originally thought to be a species of Centrosaurus. But despite the requisite centrosaurine nose horn, plus additional barbs on its frill (“epiparietals”), Coronosaurus would still have had no trouble wearing a g*****n mask.
so anyway here's this diaper baby parasaurolophus.
if anyone wanted to buy me one (and/or the grown-up version), it'd really make my quarantine.
and see, it's sad because all its flesh rips off.
before you say "aww, cute," just remember that this is blatant pro-placoderm propaganda.
(but obviously i'm joking and this paleoartist has great ideas and is extraordinarily talented.)
and in mobile game news...
"Tap! Dig! My Museum" (which i had mentioned before here) has been updated with new fossils to find! it includes marine reptiles -- which were woefully under-represented before -- AND friend of the show/frequent contributor STYRACO-FRIGGIN-SAURUS.
please to enjoy.
dinosaurs & vidja games
i've been playing "tap! dig! my museum!" because surprise surprise i really like adorable pixel art dinosaurs. it's not a long game, but it's got 26 different dinosaurs to dig up (ranging from expected to pretty unique), but i am definitely exhibiting only pachycephalosaurus, parasaurolophus, and acrocanthosaurus at the moment.
Paleozoic Pals has a new fossil plushie on Kickstarter - the Tully Monster
also true, also successfully funded, and available here.
real talk: i pubbed paleozoic pals for entirely selfish reasons, and those reasons look like this dunkleosteus plush peeking out of my bookshelf. (it was originally a stretch goal for their ammonoid kickstarter.)
You stopped the ball on Mystacodon selenensis, chief. Its petrified bones surely feel left out.
first of all, the idiom is "dropped" the ball.
secondly, mystacodon selenensis's petrified bones don't feel a thing and you know it, "chief."
and lastly, my headcanon is that this animal's specific name is in reference to kate beckinsale's character selene from underworld and no one can tell me otherwise.
There is a new Paleozoic Pal on Kickstarter! Tiktaalik
that was true. it was successfully funded (no thanks to me), and you can find one here.
Make my boys happy
...is this an imperative? like, are you telling me to make your boys happy?
or are you saying that i have made or habitually do make your boys happy?
go ahead. make. my. day.
Have you ever thought I making a book? I would totally buy that.
I DON'T KNOW HOWWWWWWWW but thank you, yeah, that'd be awesome.
i feel like I relate to these majestic animals more than I really should.
why, are you saying you're not majestic enough? GIRL, you better turn that backward-ass negativity around, embrace your inner KWEEN and relate to whatever you DAMN well please however you DAMN well want to! 👑💅💯🦕👸
This blog is amazing. You've made my week so keep up the good work!
i didn't keep up the good work. consider your week and possibly multiple, intervening years retroactively ruined.
