People that litter should be penalized way more than people that shoplift from major corporations imo.
This makes me so sad and also I'm trying to remember if any of the Discworld books dealt with late stage capitalism
We are normal and can be trusted with large amounts of money
ITS NOT DEMONS GUYS I PROMISE
"the education system traumatizes students it deems stupid" and "the education system traumatizes students it deems gifted" are two concepts that can and should coexist.
I think I've got a compromise

Social Democracy is not Socialism
Nevermind me. Just me crying about people not understanding politics. Just let me rant, alright?
So, I was talking to a friend recently. A left wing, European friend. And then they said it: "I mean, at least we have not capitalism in Europe." Und I was just standing there like: 😐
Upon prodding I found out that, yes, indeed, the believed that Social Democracy as we have it in most European countries is not in fact capitalism, but a form of socialism. And once again I was standing there like: 😐
Europe has capitalism. Europe is capitalist. While not as guilty of intervening in the politics of other countries to keep capitalism going as the US, Europe still did a lot of that. There is not a single socialist (let alone communist) country is Europe.
What we have is capitalism with the minimalist safeguards to keep capitalism doing the capitalism thing and literally and figurative KILLING PEOPLE. We have a few rules for capitalism to follow. We have a few things for people not to literally starve when they are jobless. But that's it.
We absolutely still have capitalism.
Which is why we do not manage to go CO2 neutral and what not. Because capitalism cannot do capitalism and go CO2 neutral. Both things are mutual exclusive.
“if no art makes you feel anything, make your own art and feel something” is too raw of a line to have come from a jenna marbles video of her painting a rainbow/polka dot seahorse saying “it’s seahorse time” on a denim jacket
Why do you people feel profound thought has to come from high places? The gutter looks at the stars too
not only did you prove your point, but you showed an example of it in the same sentence
why do people on here say usamerican instead of american like they do on other parts of the internet?
the americas are two entire continents made up of countries besides the usa
good lord
YEAH I GOT NOTHING
i don’t understand a single sentence in this and i’m ok with that
I haven’t stopped saying “it’s called quantum jumping, babe”
I would genuinely like to know who to blame for making these children so disconnected from the concept of imagination that they think the simpler explanation for what they’re doing is that they’re projecting their consciousness into one of infinite realities where fictional characters are real.
topical :/
WHY IS IT TOPICAL
Me shouting at my rash ointment
great post everyone
“tweens figured out transdimensional travel” didn’t that happen in homestuck
yeah that definitely happened in homestuck
The study itself is titled, “Long-Term Regret and Satisfaction With Decision Following Gender-Affirming Mastectomy,” and sought to study the rate of regret and satisfaction after 2 years or more following gender affirming top surgery. The study’s results were stunning - in 139 surgery patients, the median regret score was 0/100 and the median satisfaction score was 5/5 with similar means as well. In other words… regret was virtually nonexistent in the study among post-op transgender people. In fact, the regret was so low that many statistical techniques would not even work due to the uniformity of the numbers: In this cross-sectional survey study of participants who underwent gender-affirming mastectomy 2.0 to 23.6 years ago, respondents had a high level of satisfaction with their decision and low rates of decisional regret. The median Satisfaction With Decision score was 5 on a 5-point scale, and the median decisional regret score was 0 on a 100-point scale. This extremely low level of regret and dissatisfaction and lack of variance in scores impeded the ability to determine meaningful associations among these results, clinical outcomes, and demographic information. The numbers are in line with many other studies on satisfaction among transgender people. Detransition rates, for instance, have been pegged at somewhere between 1-3%, with transgender youth seeing very low detransition rates. Surgery regret is in line with at least 27 other studies that show a pooled regret rate of around 1% - compare this to regret rates from things like knee surgery, which can be as high as 30%. Gender affirming care appears to be extremely well tolerated with very low instances of regret when compared to other medically necessary care.

The intense conservative backlash, to the point of disputing reputable scientific journals, likely stems from the fact that reduced regret rates weaken a central narrative these figures have championed in legal and legislative spaces. Over the past three years, anti-trans entities have showcased political detransitioners, reminiscent of the ex-gay campaigns from the 1990s and 2000s, to argue that regrets over gender transition and detransition are widespread. Some have even asserted detransition rates of up to 80%, a claim that has been broadly debunked. Yet, research consistently struggles to find substantial evidence supporting this narrative. The rarity of detransition and regret is underscored by Florida's inability to enlist a single resident to bear witness against a lawsuit challenging the state's ban on gender-affirming care.
Wow this sucks I'm gonna kill *remembers that suicide jokes only worsen your mental health and that the first step to healing is stopping* you

Every once in a while a new music genre gets invented and people from all different countries are like this slaps we got to start doing that and combine it with our own music styles and that's beautiful
There was a time when China got really into jazz and so did Ethiopia. Cambodia got really into Psychedelic Rock to the point that there's now an contemporary American band specialised in this style of music. There's a band from my hometown in Germany singing in Spanish and I know several early 20th century Japanese and Chinese artists were doing the same. Zambia had it's own Rock movement. Ska is from Jamaica but I know Japanese, Basque and Spanish ska bands. You can probably find hip hop and rap in all languages of the world by now. I watched an entire documentary on the history of South American rock and roll. There is a Cuban orchestra mixing Mozart and guajira. Finnish tango. German covers of Irish folk music. Blues from the Sahara.
I love metal and I have a playlist dedicated to bands that are inspired by their native cultures, the Hu is the biggest band on there, they use a lot of traditional Mongolian instruments and use throat singing. Bloodywood got quite popular on tiktok for making Indian inspired nu metal and it's so good. There's something so beautiful and inspiring about taking a genre of music so (often) Americanised and turning it into a beautiful fusion.
