One thing I don't think people realize is the loss of privacy and anonymity that comes with being visibly disabled. You rarely get to be "one of a crowd" and any direct action gets easily traced back to you. I can't go spray Die Nazi Scum on the window of the graffiti shop because the instant someone says "they were in an orange wheelchair" I'm caught. I can't just go run at the pond and not have people comment on it because they can't help but notice I'm a regular because I use a memorable hiking wheelchair. I've had someone introduce themselves to me by going "I know that wheelchair!" Because they remember my chair and not me. (Hilariously enough I did NOT know that man and he had me mixed with someone else in the same color chair. He remembered the wheelchair but not the person.)

It's really strange and hard to reconcile with when you like to observe and not be the one being observed.
