We need everyone's help right now to protect the rainforest and Indigenous People
The Amazon Rainforest is under a massive threat. I know you've heard this a million times, but this is different. There is a piece of legislation that will decimate the rights of Indigenous people of Brazil, who have been protecting the rainforest. It's unfathomably bad. It has majority support. And they're voting tomorrow. As reported here, the Bill allows "the Brazilian government to find energy resources, set up military bases, develop strategic roads, and implement commercial agriculture on protected Indigenous tribal lands, without any prior discussion with the affected peoples."
The thing you can do—and I know this sounds overly simple—is sign this petition—and tell your friends to do the same: SIGN HERE.
As reported here, the Bill allows "the Brazilian government to find energy resources, set up military bases, develop strategic roads, and implement commercial agriculture on protected Indigenous tribal lands, without any prior discussion with the affected peoples."
Again, this bill has majority support. You may be wondering, why will a petition signed by people who don't live in Brazil make any difference? Because it will give those opposing it political air cover. It will show the world is with them.
But we need a LOT of signatures.
Please do this simple act and spread the word.
it wasn't "some reason", it was 2D animators being unionized and 3D not being unionized. and the simple truth that capitalism kills art.
I remember when 2D faded out, the reason studios kept giving was "it's because 2D is a lot more expensive to produce". I was a child back then so I didn't think too much about it, assuming it was about the process itself, but as I grew up and learned more about art as an artist, and gained friends who were professional 3D artists themselves, I started to question it. Because 3D is very different from 2D, but it's definitely not easier or faster to make. Also, both European and Asian studios kept producing 2D animated movies
The answer was unions. The answer wasn't "this kind of art is cheaper because it's easier to make", it was "this kind of art is cheaper because these artists can't force us to pay them correctly"
If you ask me, the best thing about characters with long snouts is that once they actually open their mouths properly, their entire head just sort of splits in two. Grotesquely.
yeah, the pride merch is great and all, but i can see that the designers had trouble fitting both Chat Noir and Carapace into the green! luckily, I have a solution—
Is there anything you feel dyadic people should know about intersex people? I'm trying to expand my advocacy and be a better ally. Do you know of any resources or topics I may want to look into?
there are so many things!
I’ll just start by mentioning the things I think of as super obvious, and then forward you onto other helpful resources when it comes to more complex issues
- hermaphrodite is a slur when it comes to referring to human beings. you may see people with ovotestes be referred to as “true hermaphrodites”, but that’s outdated and intersexist
- no, that cat/lion/lizard is not “naturally nonbinary”. it’s intersex
- while there is a list of “intersex conditions”, not every intersex person will have a biological situation that fits into that. there are many ways to be intersex, and it’s more complex than what is able to be divided into a set number of “conditions”
- if you want to be a good ally to intersex folk, you have to unlearn both the sex and gender binaries. sex is not defined to male and female categories, and biology plays a much smaller part in all this than people like to make out (e.g. female vs male brain is bullshit)
I could probably say much more, but I’m really tired so my brain is not working 100%. from here, I’d recommend you explore websites and organisations such as:
- interACT
- IHRA
- Bodies Like Ours
interACT in particular has some great resources on their website when it comes to the history of intersex rights and also defining intersex-related terminology. it is USA-based, but it’s a good starting point for sure!
is it okay if my 12 yr old little brother asks you something??
yo your brother kind of sucks
here’s the full piece!
