K-POP FANS, PRODUCE X 101 FANS, ANYONE AT ALL PLEASE READ THIS.

IN2IT is an underrated boy group under MMO/Stone Music Entertainment. Today, one of the members, Kim Sunghyun, left the group and revealed that their agency was not paying them at all for their activities as a group. He had to stop being a member and terminate his contract early because he wasn't earning anything for his family, who started struggling financially because his dad had to stop working due to disability. So they penalized him for terminating his contract early-- $100,000. This has basically sent his family into poverty. What's more, the company is being evasive about promoting the members.

Please, please spread awareness about this. Even if you don't know this group. Even if you're not into K-pop at all. There's so much bullshit going on in the K-pop industry that makes me so sick. Stone Music took advantage of a 20-year-old boy, promised to make his dreams come true, then made him pay for it. I don't know what spreading this will do. I just want to be able to help him directly with a fundraiser or something, but I hope to at least bring attention to the six remaining members who deserve way better than this.

The IN2IT Issue

Alright guys I’m about to go all reporter on so deal. Earlier today it was announced that IN2IT member Sunghyun was departing the group due to personal matters as stated from the agency. Sunghyun went onto write a letter on his personal Instagram. This letter states that the group has not been paid any kind of money since the end of the survival show Boys24 that formed the group. Sunghyun stated that the company claimed that they spent too much money on the survival show and didn’t have much left for the group. All the members paid with their own money to get their hair dyed and cut. He was also prevented from posting on Instagram which was his only way to connect with fans even after Produce X 101. In the letter it is also stated that his family isn’t doing well financially as his father had to quit his job because of a hernia disk. Sunghyun told the company about his situation and the company demanded money for a contract breach. The CEO told him that he will not find any opportunity to thank the fans until he pays that debt which is ridiculous. He has not been paid in two years! Two whole years and now he’s being expected to pay 100,000 dollars for breaching his contract when he wants to help his family. To you guys not see how fucked up that is. Honestly I could go on a whole rant about this but I’m not going to so that the facts get across. But please remember that this is something that is happening behind the scenes and we should be aware about it.

SM’S UNFAIR TREAMENT OF IDOLS

This might not get a lot of attention but I really hope people pay attention in order to help the situation. Recently, one member of nct (subunit nct dream) Huang Renjun, has been seen to be severely mistreated by his manager. First, it was telling him to stop talking about another member in nct (Winwin), then he was asked to move in a vlive to let another member be in the middle. Also, this manager forced him out of the car with his other members to find his own ride back, IN THE RAIN, without an umbrella!! Several fans have also reported that another member, Lee Jeno, was been groped by this manager. Reportedly, she kicked Renjun out of the car so she could sit next to Jeno. This behavior is absolutely inexcusable. This is the mental abuse of MINORS. Jeno has asked before to not be sexualized and just bc he won’t be a minor soon, does not allow people to have free range over a nineteen year old boy. Many EXO-Ls may also remember in the beginning of EXO, three Chinese members left and one tried to file a lawsuit against SM for mistreatment. This has been going on for YEARS and nothing has been done. Another thing to note is that this mistreatment and abuse has been focused on CHINESE members only. Korean members are shown preference. I ask that everyone please unfollow sm and speak out against SM enetertainment. Even if you don’t stan or follow these idols, this is the mistreatment of MINORS and PEOPLE ! Fic writers get attacked over the stupidest things. You don’t read the long list of warnings at the beginning of a fic? Your problem. You don’t actually understand kinks and don’t recognize when they’re being written correctly and you don’t like it? Your problem. You don’t like waiting for updates? Your problem. 

The majority of shit that people go through is ridiculous. People get hate over things they don’t deserve to get hate over. Feedback on this site is practically nonexistent at this point. I personally crosspost on multiple platforms and this is by far the worst one. I never get shit on those other platforms. I rarely get asked for updates because people there know patience. 

People, including myself, can be genuinely scared to post certain things because people don’t read the freaking warnings and attack them over it. People read something that they KNOW they won’t like and then blame US for it. 

Then you wonder why people are leaving and the fandom is dwindling on here.

Do you find yourself following them on all forms of social media? Do you follow their friends and family, who might not even make content themselves? Do you research their lives? Step back. Just because they are famous doesn’t mean it’s okay to engage in stalking behavior.

Do you find yourself getting anxious if you miss a video, or they upload off schedule? Step back. I know they can help you through dark times but you can’t rely on them all the time.

Would you be devastated if they turned out to be a not-so-nice person? Step back. You can only trust them as much as you trust any stranger. Don’t see yourself up to be shattered if they fall off that pedestal you put them on.

No matter how much somebody interacts with their audience, the relationship is still parasocial. Just keep that in mind. Don’t put all your trust in a stranger. It’s okay to enjoy these people and their content, but keep your distance and step back.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again and again and again: this is so important. I had to do this, myself. I didn’t want to admit that I was obsessed/hyperfixated because my mom kept telling me that I was and I couldn’t stand it if she was right, BUT SHE WAS. I was letting Kpop take over my life. It became my idol. I woke up at stupid early times or go to bed stupid late because I wanted to watch V-Lives or live performances as they were happening, even if they didn’t have subtitles yet. I spent over $500 in my FIRST YEAR of being a kpop fan in concert tickets, music, and merch. I made a side blog because Kpop was taking over my main. I thought about it, talked about it, danced to it, threw my money at it, before anything else. I didn’t know how to live a balanced life, anymore. When I finally realized it, I took an entire month off from everything. I didn’t go on Tumblr. I deleted the V app. I didn’t look anything up, didn’t get any new music, didn’t buy anything Kpop related. And when it was all over, I was able to just have fun with Kpop. I didn’t feel this desperate need to know everything that was going on with my groups 24/7. I didn’t feel like I was somehow “letting my groups down” by not making my life utterly revolve around them. I was able to have FUN. I was a person who enjoyed what came from these other people. I was no longer a robot fan, programmed to do ALL THE VOTING, give ALL THE HEARTS, give ALL THE MONEY. I still jam out to Kpop more than any other music. I still pay for concert tickets. I occasionally prioritize Kpop things. But it isn’t a 24/7 compulsive thing. And I feel so much more ALIVE because of it. Kpop becomes a much better part of your life when you remember that you can still have one.
