“Cats don’t actually love you”
A cat is a small creature in the middle of the food chain that is fully aware that you are a very large thing that could stomp its head in at any moment and yet it chooses to rest its tiny little head on your leg for a nap and spreads out on the floor near you exposing its belly and its most sensitive organs. It brings dead mice and bugs to you to share food.
Don’t you get it? This tiny thing trusts you. It wants to help you too. It licks your leg thinking that it’s helping. It kneads on you to find comfort. It shares its body warmth with you in the cold and gives you your space in the heat. It hisses at other mammals it sees outside including other cats in an effort to protect its family.
Cats love you so so much. But they will keep trying to eat plastic.
positive affirmations to say to your cat to build their self-esteem:
- thank you for letting me live in your house with you
- you are the creature
- all rodents and insects quake in fright at the sound of your footsteps
- you always choose the correct time to bite my feet
- your choices in drinking water sources are wise and healthy
- you are the best at playing toys
- you are an indoor cat only because I fear the havoc you would create out in the world
- the vet fears you more than you fear her
I love that Elizabeth Swann is such a teen girl fantasy like she’s beautiful and rich but sheltered and she’s in love with this nice, good-looking blacksmith that she helped rescue as a child and she almost drowns while she’s being proposed to by a young, handsome but proper and boring royal navy commander but then is RESCUED by a swaggering pirate captain and then gets kidnapped by pirates and the nice good-looking blacksmith comes after her and she has this weird tension with the swaggering pirate captain but she’s also deeply in love with the nice good-looking blacksmith and then there’s the complicated royal navy commander who’s willing to die for her and then she becomes the pirate king at the end of it all like????

tylenol realizing they're about to get a huge settlement from the US government and get some halfway-decent PR when the last thing we all knew about them was the murders
are the tylenol murders not public knowledge
for the unaware: long story short in the 1980's some wacko poisoned several tylenol packages with cyanide and six people actually died from it. tylenol pulled their product from the shelves, and then came back with the first Tamper-Proof Seal, those annoying little foil covers that exist to reassure you that nothing was added. This is why we have those. to be clear: as far as I have ever been told, tylenol did the right thing here. J&J immediately recalled the tainted lot, and when more tainted lots were found, they recalled ALL extra-strength tylenol in chicago. after another incident happened in florida, they then recalled ALL TYLENOL NATIONWIDE issued within the suspected date. they also advertised this recall with a recommendation to not consume the product if you still have it, and offered to replace your bottle with a case of tablets instead (different from the capsules that were getting poisoned). they also lost a ton of money on this, too, because their insurance claim was denied due to not having Recall Insurance specifically.
this is also why you don't really see powder-based capsules anymore, with most drug companies moving to caplets instead - a capsule-shaped tablet, which is harder to poison. and again, this is why we have anti-tamper seals on medicine bottles now. TL;DR - the Tylenol Murders weren't even tylenol's fault and the company made a very expensive choice to mass recall because it was the right thing to do.
One of the few instances where the big drug company was genuinely the good guy
Thinking back to that one time an anon called e an idiot bc "you can't be 28 years old and say class of '96 in your bio you can't do math"
My guy. Since I was alive people have used that expression to say the year they were born. But then I thought about the differences between American expression and Italian ones so I'm making this poll
Please share this around and put your nationality in the tags I'm curious
YOU GUYS ARE NOT SPREADING THIS AROUND AND PUTTING YOUR NATIONALITY IN THE TAGS
In Russia it's the year you graduated from school
Okay but what if you were held back a year or two? My best friend is one year older than me but we graduated the same year bc she was held back. I've always used this as a way to gauge someone's age but using graduation year seems a bit too approximative to me
It's not used to measure someone's age, literally just the year they graduated school.
Same here in my corner of America--"Class of" is just used to tell when you graduated high school/college. It doesn't have an association with age.
In Britain (well, back in my day) we would have no reason to use the "Class of..." bit because we don't graduate from anything below college level. We just... don't go that school any more.
the older i get the more i start hating that "traumadumping" is seen as a toxic behaviour when its actually a blatant sign that that person is struggling.
like idk about you but if my friend or aquaintance starts textwalling me on discord about their family abusing them as a child or something, my first thought isnt "ugh this is so inconsiderate of them. toxic" its "oh no i think my friend is having emotional flashbacks :(" regardless of if i have the energy to engage with them about it at the time.
this isnt even getting into how minorities are often treated as though theyre "traumadumping" just for talking about their lived experiences in a deeply bigoted society. specifically thinking of disabled people at the moment but i feel its also applicable to most other oppressed groups.

On TODAY'S episode of "I Think Google Used the Wrong Picture", we have this masterpiece of a thumbnail
Except I clicked on the article and was proven wrong!! Google DID use the right picture! The full image is somehow even better
I don't live in Massachusetts but I hope this one wins
say whatever you want about tumblr, but more and more it's feeling like one of the last places on the internet where you can still be irreverent about bad things happening to people who got exactly what they'd been putting out in the world.
Reddit is etiquette-moderated to the gills ever since its IPO. Twitter gets you hounded by nazis and fired from your job. Bluesky is the same as Twitter but maybe with half as many nazis. Tiktokkers can't even say the word kill without getting scared. Every mainstream media outlet will have you believing the victims were saints. It's making me insane. It feels insane, everywhere else I look beside the blue hellscape.
Crab rave. Crab rave. Crab rave. Officer fucking down.
