Ronald Weasley is solely invented for the purpose of being Harry Potter's friend who acts irrationally and sides with Harry in wanting to get into trouble. He treated Hermione like trash the whole time. Made her feel horrible and insecure. He isn't witty or charming whereas Draco is given that persona.

I don’t ship Harry and Hermione together. To me, it just doesn’t make sense. I can see why people would ship them in the movies, but their relationship in the books is just like long-time friends. I really don’t see any chemistry between them in the books that makes me think that they’d make a good couple. I think that Harry and Hermione are too different to work out as a couple. I think Harry would get annoyed with Hermione very often, and he might lash out at her or just simply ignore her. And Hermione is very logical and she’s rarely the first person Harry goes to ask for help or advice because Hermione tends to boss Harry around and tell him what and what not to do. I feel like the movies made it look like Harry and Hermione were closer than they were in the books. And that sort of changed their relationship.
