annabeth chase is rly one of the best female characters of all time because she’s Not the emotional support feelings dumpster for the male main character. she cares about other people but she’s literally so bad at expressing or hiding her emotions because she ran away at 7 and never learned how to/had to be like this to cope at camp, and you can see that throughout the books and also see her grow and it’s just so refreshing to have a girl in a kid’s series that actually isn’t good at feelings, and for understandable reasons, not as just some “strong female character” that’s exactly like every man pain male hero

i’m on a soft lightning thief re-read to get my memory jogging for the show, but i come to this absolutely iconic annabeth line and what amuses me more than her blunt, non-sequitur towards percy is that she doesn’t even wait for his reaction or doesn’t even stay long enough to show the disdain/judgement on her face––noooo, she simply runs away. like she drops this absolutely whack (from percy’s pov) observation about his sleeping habits and doesn’t have any more fucks left to give so she just leaves. and that is literally the first thing she says to him once he’s actually lucid like??? girl??? she’s such an awkward little pigeon, it’s hilarious.
