Lama Jamous and her family have been successfully evacuated from Gaza.

[Image description: a post from Simone Umba that reads: a single post really can change everything

I don’t know how to summarize what the last 48 hours have been like. This is something we have hoped and prayed for everyday for the last three months. Every single thing we went through from beginning to the end was worth it to see @Lama Jamous and her beautiful family safe.

It also breaks my heart that they are away from the land they love and deserve to be on. That their family and their people are enduring the unthinkable for simply existing.

I wish it didn’t take such a terrible circumstance for this family to cross paths with us in this life but I’m thankful that they did. I’m thankful that this little girl’s face came across my feed. She has changed my life more than I could even describe in words. Lama has the biggest heart in the world and is a light of hope in this world. Every day, she wears Palestine. Whether it’s her bracelet, her necklace, or the flag in her bag. She has such an amazing and beautiful future ahead of her.

I pray this genocide ends and that the people of Palestine can return to the land that is rightfully theirs.

Paraglider and black vulture chilling

I NEVER get tired of this video. It would be fantastic if the bird was just flying near him, but the fact it feels safe and comfortable enough to land ON his paraglider, isn't startled when he pets it, and is NIBBLING HIS SHOES... blessed moment, absolutely fabulous, 10/10 gold stars.

Okay but the bird isn't just nibbling

Note that it doesn't start nibbling until he starts smoothing its feathers.

They're grooming each other.

This is called parahawking! That vulture is tame -- it’s wearing jesses (a leather tie around the leg that a falconer will use to hold a bird when it’s on the glove). In fact that vulture is employed. Parahawking birds seek out thermals the same way they would naturally, allowing paragliders to follow them in the process.

Vultures are often used for parahawking both because of their attraction to thermals, and because vultures, as scavengers, are comparatively gentler and more sociable than birds of prey!

A father's plea for peace for his children and his sick wife

Imagine a world where instead of raindrops falling from the sky, bombs rain down, and instead of soothing lullabies, the sound of warplanes fills the air. This is the harsh reality that my children, Mounir (6 years old) and Siraj (4 years old), and my wife, who is suffering from cancer, live in. We live in Gaza, a place where hope seems to be fading.

I am Mohammed, Rawaa’s husband, and I feel the heavy burden of ensuring a better future for them.

The war took my job, our home, the very essence of our existence. We are now living in makeshift tents, sharing what little we have in this besieged land. However, in the midst of all this devastation, my wife's illness bothers me greatly because there is no treatment for it.

Friends in Egypt have offered us a chance to escape this nightmare, but the path to safety is blocked by a daunting barrier: the border crossing demands $5,000 for each life to pass through.

I plead with you, don't let my children become victims of war.

Your contribution, no matter how small, could be the key to unlocking a future free from fear and filled with opportunities. Your assistance could mean the difference between life and death for my family. With your help, we can secure safe passage out of Gaza and begin the journey toward a better future. A future where peace and prosperity prevail.

Thanks for your support, and I'm grateful for any help you can give me during this difficult time.

"Most of Sudan is only one step away from a full blown famine. In a lot of areas the only thing stopping people starving is the presence of community kitchens. This is why we setup 3 kitchens in Khartoum State and are in the process of setting up a 4th. But there has been a massive drop off in donations after Ramadan. Please help with what you can.

This is even WORSE.

To elaborate why this is worse: Art and religion are all well and good. But information can be critical. When libraries burn, information can be lost forever. Because we photograph art. We have blueprints of the Cathedral. The Notre Dame cathedral did not burn to the ground, only the wooden structures did. The entire library and everything within is gone here. Another reason this is worse? It was DELIBERATE. It was bombed. Accidents like Notre Dame happen all the time. But bombings don’t have to happen. So yeah, if you cared about Notre Dame, logically you should care about this too,
