i have no respect for any transgender who agrees with #downwithcis or any form of hate towards cis people. (: (and seriously if you are trans and you agree with hatred towards innocent cis people (including myself) you are a part of the problem. how do you expect the minority of cis people to stop hatefulness towards the trans community when you are just retaliating against innocent cis people? you are just making more enemies for yourself)
“Any transgender” is horrifyingly incorrect terminology but anyways I’m going to try really, really hard to respond here without sounding like I’m doing anything other than explaining. Here goes.
Also: There’s this thing that none of you seem to know about called “metonymy”, where you use a whole to stand in for a part. (It is a figure of speech that replaces the name of a thing with the name of something else with which it is closely associated.) It’s called metonymy, when a trans person (I’ll just stick with this to make it easier to explain) makes an exasperated statement. When they say cis people they mean transphobic people, the system that cis people have put in place to prevent trans people from being able to have certain rights/etc, the fucks who call themselves, “gender abolitionists”, etc. Just like, for example, when someone says “America is shit". Obviously not every single solitary person who lives in America is shit. They mean that America as a system is shit. (The government, violence against anyone not deemed worthy enough, basic refusal to acknowledge a lot of things, etc.) Or “The White House is concerned about terrorism”. Clearly, not every single being residing in The White House is concerned about it. (The dogs aren’t, of course). There are individuals within who do. In this case, The White House as a whole is use in place of the names of each individual.
So basically “down with cis” = , down with the ideation that “you have to be this exact way to be a girl/boy, down with the system and society that enforces it, down with equating gender to genitals, down with the people who dehumanize trans people and act as if they are less worthy because they are trans, etc. The statement doesn’t mean every single cis person on the planet ever to exist. When they make a comment like ‘i hate cis people’. They are substituting cis people for the concept of a system/culture that demonizes, disrespects and dehumanizes trans people, and legitimizes and normalizes transphobia/transphobic acts so that people constantly do those things either without realizing it, or while believing that it’s completely okay to do because everyone around them is doing it, so they blow it off like its no big deal and can’t possibly be doing any harm.
TL;DR: There’s a possibly very long explanation on metonymy and how it coincides with down with cis.
