@rinofwater

A lot of fandoms, personal rants, and pictures of my cats. A personal blog for an adult in training.

They shoulda put the guardian concept designs in the depths so gamers would shit themselves live on stream

They should've done that and made them highly photorealistic too

Okay but like seriously...why DIDN’T they do that? You can already see some parallels between Zonai technology and constructs and Shiekah technology and constructs...what an extra lovely flavor of world-building that would’ve been

Or maybe not so lovely because that art is fucking terrifying, but you know what I mean

This worries me…

I have a theory. It’s a wild one… spoilers and theories below!

It’s an interesting theory, and one that’s been posited before (especially in the “nobody’s above suspicion” era of conspiracy theorizing pre-Knives Out lol), but here are some of the reasons I don’t think that’s super likely (also throwing spoilers behind the read more)

You know, I've been watching people play the "My Time" games & I noticed something.

We never really get a direct answer as to what the direct cause of the Day of Calamity was.

Like, all we hear is that technology did it, but no one ever says which technology.

I mean, in Sandrock, we see that the Age of Corruption actually had quite a few green technologies. Such as the biocrust & the water purification tank. And in both Portia & Sandrock, we meet AIs that aren't evil & destructive.

As such, this means that it wasn't technology itself that caused the Calamity.

So, what specifically actually caused the sun to hide?

I get the feeling that the answer is much more complicated than what the Church of Light would have us believe.

In fact, why do people assume that it was technology to begin with? How do they even know?

This was actually an interesting question that had popped up on the Steam forums as well (before the general “omg the lore says this” replies seeped in and took away the fun of Speculation because for all that there are journals and such that give an idea that the Day of Calamity is maybe retold a bit inaccurately as a 300 year old event is liable to be, even that’s hearsay). My general takeaway is “AI did a Doomsday” is a useful shorthand for Day of Calamity, but it’s a message that’s been watered down and put through 300+ years of telephone at best or actively propagandized at worst

Especially considering the most recent content that I won’t get into because MASSIVE SPOILERS except that it offers a totally different (but also just as vague and sensationalized) perspective on the Day of Calamity than what we’ve gotten up to this point

The dead can’t speak for themselves and the rare (so far exclusively AI) living have had too much time away from that event (either sleeping or out of touch) to be able to provide much clarity themselves (and even if they could, they are ultimately little individuals in a huge, earth-shattering tragedy...one teeny-tiny little piece of a larger puzzle). The effects are widely obvious and still affect the modern day because for all that there’s been recovery, there’s still a lot of ground left to reclaim or rework altogether (and the living memory of the subsequent Age of Darkness is *just* starting to die out so there’s still a pretty good understanding of what THAT entailed, even if it’s starting to fade from the modern consciousness), so it’s clear that it was Bad, but the details of why this bad thing happened are much less clear and therefore up to interpretation and vague context clues...which means it’s also an effective base to spin all sorts of narratives depending on your philosophies and your intentions

Maybe that’s why the Church of Light is a religion and not like, a historical organization or something. And would that make the Research Center a religion spun off of Old World legends in their own right from that perspective?

IDK, but digging deeper into My Time At lore is really fun because it seems pretty straightforward until you actually take some time to look at it and anyway I’ve been rambling for a while but I’ve been known to do that (just not on tumblr these days but well reddit’s doing dumb shit and Steam hasn’t been as fun for having convos these days so here I am...hope you don’t mind lol)

can someone please leave a picture of wario in the replies

what you need to do if i have a convulsive seizure

I was just complaining to my friend that my oldest sister didn’t know what to do the last time I had a convulsive seizure, and I ended up injured because of it. And my friend said that actually, they don’t know what to do when they see someone have a convulsive seizure, either.

So I thought I’d explain it to you.  I’m not a doctor, and I have no medical training and not everything here will apply to everyone who has convulsive seizures, these are just the things that apply to me, and when in doubt, call an ambulance.

Here’s what you do:

Look around. Am I lying in the middle of a busy street or on the railroad tracks, or somewhere else dangerous, like in the bathtub? If yes, drag me to somewhere where I am not in imminent danger of being hit by a truck or drowning.

Am I somewhere safe, but lying near dangerous things like fire or knives or broken glass or pans of boiling water or anything that can hurt me? Move the dangerous things away from me.

My body will be convulsing. That means my head and my arms and my legs are rapidly hitting the ground. Put something soft underneath my head. If there’s a cushion right there, perfect. If not, wad up your coat or shove your shopping bag under my head. If there’s nothing immediately to hand that would take you more than a few seconds to grab, stick your feet underneath my head, it’ll work.

Am I wearing anything around my neck, like a tight collar, or a necktie, or a choker? Loosen it, so my airway is clear.

Don’t restrict my movements - don’t try to hold my arms and legs down. You’ve already moved all the dangerous things away from me, and cushioned my head, so don’t hold me down, unless it is necessary to keep me from doing serious harm.

Don’t put anything in my mouth. A lot of people think you need to stick your fingers or a spoon or something into the person’s mouth to prevent them choking on their tongue.  Don’t do this.

Try to make a note of the time the seizure first started. If the seizure lasts for longer than five minutes, call an ambulance.

When the convulsing/jerking has stopped, roll me onto my side. If you know what the recovery position is, put me in the recovery position, if you don’t, just roll me onto my side, and check my airway. If I’m not breathing, or I’m having trouble breathing, call an ambulance.

It seems to be instinctive to help someone get back to their feet as soon as the seizure is over. Don’t do this with me. After a seizure, I’m in something called a post-ictal state. It makes me very, very confused, and lying on the ground or sitting somewhere soft is the safest place for me. If you pull me to my feet while I’m still this confused, I will walk directly into traffic or put my hand on a hot stove because I won’t know where I am, or what’s happening, and often I won’t be able to see at all for a few minutes. Keep me somewhere safe until I’ve fully recovered.

If I have another seizure before I’ve fully recovered from the earlier one, call an ambulance.

If you think I might be hurt, or you’re confused or not sure about what to do, call an ambulance.

That’s all there is to it. Make sure I’m not in immediate physical danger; cushion my head (but don’t restrain it); when the jerking stops, roll me onto my side and check my airway; keep me somewhere safe until I’m fully recovered, and if the seizure lasts a long time, or I have a second one, or you aren’t sure what to do or you think I might be hurt, call an ambulance. That’s it. It’s not hard, and I promise you can do this.

THIS THIS THIS The last time I had a convulsive seizure in public, somebody held my arms down and both shoulders dislocated

Also it’s a myth that peope can swallow their tongues

I am a doctor and I approve this message.

My dad was riding a stalhorse to one of the stables and when he took it to the dude to get it registered the dude of course wanted nothing to do with the stalhorse

And then he got out of the dialogue and the bitch just died right out from under him and after all the effort he went through to get the thing to the stable to terrorize the stalhorse girl with it, his reaction was hilarious

I cannot get FOMT atm so for now I'm gonna sublimate with Magical Melody 👍

I really enjoy just existing in hotels. The long identical hallways. The soulless abstract art. The weird noises the air-conditioner makes. Strange city lights in the window. Six stories off the ground. Strangers chatting in the hall. Nothing in the dresser. No past, but an infinite present.

I know this place in California that I really think you’d like

Zuko, waiting all night outside Katara’s tent: I can’t go in there that’s rude

Zuko, patiently waiting beside a sleeping Iroh: I can’t wake him up that’s rude

Zuko, barging into Sokka’s tent unannounced: hey Sokka can you tell me about your dead mom
