I’m increasingly worried by all the people on my dash calling themselves insane for loving stories in the way humans have loved stories our whole history. “The brain rot is spreading” — you mean you were changed by art? “I’m not normal about this” — you were moved by it? You felt human emotions about it? “I’m about to be so annoying” — you’re going to talk about art? You’re going to be passionate? You’re going to think deeply about it? You’re going to feel love for the work of someone’s soul? You are not a consumer and art is not a product to be casually used! You are a human and stories are the beating heart of our humanity! You must feel everything and you must know that it is normal!

I feel intense love for the work of someone's soul and I'm going to be incredibly passionate about it, join me

I'm not going back and forth with fascists on a Sunday morning xoxo, I'm for trans women + trans lesbians forever and always

remember how i said israel has to expressly permit any entry or exit even through egypt's border with gaza? and that this has always been the case and why gaza is considered an 'open air prison?'

israel is now not allowing irish or brazilian citizens in gaza waiting at the border because their countries called for a ceasefire. it is effectively holding them hostage in gaza as it bombs them. insofar it has bombed the rafah border with egypt five times, and bombed injured evacuees in ambulances en route to the border too.

rogue state, terrorist country, accountable to no one and immune to consequences. israel continues to make a mockery of international law.

Yeah, but rape isn't a tool of freedom of decolonization. It's rape.

nobody said that you fucking moron. the mass rapes story is a lie. there's no evidence for it, it's propaganda and sensationalist rumors. the only thing we're saying is that + the hypocrisy of people like you ignoring israeli sexual assault against palestinians which is actually well documented, because in your mind that's something brown savages do and something fascists states supposedly protect you from. this is not new, it's literally the KKK rhetoric used to justify lynching. if you really cared about rape you should be anti-zionist

it goes against so much of what i stand for to share "palestinians are humans, they have hobbies, they have pets, they laugh and cry" kind of posts because i've spent so much of my life and career completely rejecting the notion that we should humanize ourselves, that we should ever be defensive, that we should entertain this racism at all

but it breaks my heart when i have to share them from people in gaza, who are using their five minutes of internet connection, their 25% of battery charge collected from a macguyvered car battery, emotionally exhausted, thirsty and hungry, sleeping in schools that have turned into refugee shelters and still making the time to say "please, i am human too, i am still alive, please fight for me" in english to appeal to the only people who have the power to help

i shared a tweet from a jjk artist in gaza i follow about a bts photocard being found in the middle of the rubble. even the love of anime and kpop and sports is no longer just a hobby, but an appeal to humanity. what was once a source of joy is now proof of life.

the worst part is that you won't find this content in arabic. palestinians don't post like this in arabic. but when they translate themselves, they recognize that they must humanize themselves first. it's an unspoken understanding of dehumanization, one that has dictated a whole region's understanding of the value of human life. in arabic they speak with dignity, with anger, with sorrow. in english, they appeal for their existence.

i share these posts not just because we have to reach everyone we can, because im being asked to and i will not refuse. but i also share them because they're evidence of how deep the racism has run. at what dehumanization leads to. of war crime after war crime. this too i will not forget.

how you can help palestine

*i regularly update this post with any new info i find so please always reblog the original post*

Donations

save palestine - islamic relief canada

click to donate - arab.org

send medical supplies to gaza - palestinian american medical association

NOTE: journalists based in gaza are saying that donations are not going to help atm. what will help is a demand for ceasefire. so please contact your local MPs every single day demanding as such. palestine need a ceasefire right now, not money (i will update when monetary help is needed)
if you want to donate, do this instead:

help buy e-sims for people in gaza (as it stands, there are enough e-sims purchased for now. i will let you know once they need donations again. if you would like to stay updated, please follow @/Mirna_elhelbawi on twitter)

Petitions

location specific petitions

email your MP - medical aid for palestine (UK)

  • note: you can call everyday. they tally the number of calls per issue. so more calls = higher chance for them to take action. p.s. you mainly go to voicemail so don’t worry about phone call anxiety. fight through it just this once please.

everyone in the comments is just talking about their favorite soup

OH MY GOD DON'T FUCKING TELL THEM

Mark the electrician has been here for five minutes and he’s already said “well that’s…weird” twice from the other room and frankly I’m afraid to ask.

It’s not good when skilled tradesman are standing in the middle of your room pinching the bridge if their nose, is it?

Mark just referred to the wiring in our bedroom as “creative” and “interesting”.

This is fine.

And now he’s taking apart the ceiling. I’m not worried, are any of you worried? I’m not, haha, it’s not like this house was previously owned by someone who would do something stupid like try to wire their house themselves…or store tins of varnish under the furnace behind a secret alcove…

Ha ha…

Ha.

Hm.

Fuck.

WHAT DO YOU MEAN THERE’S NO NEUTRAL WIRES??!?

WHAT DO YOU MEAN IT’S GROUNDED INTO THE SCREWS HOLDING UP THE CEILING LIGHT???!?!!

This post crosses my dashboard every so often and every time, I’m reminded of when I discovered that my whole house was grounded to a gas line.

Good times.

What really knocks me out is a book that, when you're all done reading it, you wish the author that wrote it was a terrific friend of yours and you could call him up on the phone whenever you felt like it. That doesn't happen much, though.

— J.D. Salinger. (via. luciferifilia)

See how lucky we are to be writing fanfic for each other?

DO YOU SEE??????

community

it's about community. we're all here and we can just talk about it whenever we want... even right there on the website where it's published. we're so LUCKY.

There’s certain benign activities that you should do even if someone is judging you because the sort of person who would judge you for doing that isn’t a person worth listening to.

Worried about wearing that pikachu shirt when you usually don’t wear t-shirts? Do it. The sort of person who would judge you for wearing a pikachu shirt isn’t worth your time.

Worried someone will judge you for eating in public? What sort of idiot cares about another person eating a salad at the park? Just do it.

Worried you’re not dressed well enough for this mall? It’s a mall. If someone judged you for showing up in basketball shorts they have too much time on their hands.

What sort of person gets mad at someone else just standing to the side and reading a nutrition label? Not the sort of person I’d like to meet.

Someone judging you for not wearing makeup? That person is not worth your time.

This mindset has helped my social anxiety a lot btw. As long as you generally do your best to be a polite person other normal or slightly weird or out of character things you do are your business. The sort of person paying a lot of attention to every little thing a stranger does generally isn’t the sort of person whose opinion you’d respect. So stop letting their opinions matter to you when you haven’t even met them.
