I’ve been having a lot of feelings about the downfall of quality lately.

I ordered a pair of Dickies pants because pants are hard and workwear is usually reliable. When they arrived they were the scratchiest, most papery material–I can’t actually call it fabric in good faith–and fit a full three sizes too small. A week later I found the same pair in a thrift store, dated 2017. These are actual pants. They fit, they’re not made of asbestos. They’re only separated by time.

There’s no wood used in interior design unless it’s a custom build. I have a set of wealthy relatives who live in a condo. The downpayment for it was likely more money than I will see in my lifetime. The floors and the cabinets are all still laminate. I know I will never see real wood in a building constructed after 2000. Every “apartment hack” I see online has this very conspicuous, flat appearance because of all the paint and contact paper required to make these builds look personal in any way. The only natural materials are in the furnishings.

I’ve been harping on this for years, but everything is shit, nothing is designed to work, and “growth” and “profit” are just euphemisms for cutting corners until things are unworkable.

Remember: Kill Your Idols, Kill Your Authors. Although the theory we read can be important it's important to remember not everyone was someone we should look up to (we shouldn't look "up" at all).

Many political theorists, both modern day and already dead, have had shitty views on Jewish people, on feminism, on nonwhite liberation, on child safety, on personality disorders, on the physically disabled, etc.

Take the ideas of shitty people and speak them anew. You don't have to continue to worship at the feet of bigoted philosophers, no matter how important their literature was or is. Copyright is fake. Don't blindly worship the speaker, don't blindly read. Continue to have a critical eye and brain even when consuming theory that pertains to you. You are not immune to propaganda, even from your own side.

The general opinion of furry art as "easy" or "easy money" in the wider art community is kind of insane to me. Learning to draw hundreds of unique animal features ON TOP OF humanoid anatomy is, probably, the hardest thing any artist can subject themself to when it comes to drawing characters.

Not even mentioning drawing them in a way that looks natural- look at how many human only artists draw furries completely uncannily, because they cant adjust proportions accurately. The amount of human artists who cant draw a digitigrade leg at all, when anthro artists have tons of different levels of digi they must learn if they hope to get any commissions, because furries have preferences for the leg they want.

You need to know how to draw bird features. You might have to draw an elephant. You could be asked to draw an anatomically accurate anthro bee. Tons of furries are taurs. How in the world is the amount of skill an anthro artist needs to have considered easy.

Jerome of Astora: And then he kicked ya down?

Crestfallen Costanza: He kicked me down! Genteel as can be to my face but the second I turn my back he puts his boot against it! Just my luck!

Jerome of Astora: I told ya not to trust him after that shady behavior at the bridge, George. He said he didn’t like clerics, he could probably tell you were one!

Crestfallen Costanza: You know I can’t help my trusting heart! All these Hollows all over the place, you can’t blame me for thinking anyone who hasn’t gone crazy might have a shred of decency left!

Jerome of Astora: Some people only think about themselves, buddy. Look, here comes Kramer, let’s see if he knows anything about this chump.

Marvelous Cosmo: Fellas, you won’t believe the deal I just got on some miracles! There’s a new shopkeep set up back at the Shrine, I can put in a good word for ya!

[Image description Tweet from FeoUltima "Kojima would never name a trans woman character Sirona Ryan, he'd name her something like Hard Mommy and trans women all over would go "changing my name to that" in response."]

"Hard Mommy is the leader of cougar cell. Her specialty is defense, but I guess you've realized that by now. By analyzing the battlefield she is able to quickly deduce perfect formations for infantry deployment and fortifications. She has lead her men against seemingly impossible onslaughts, including Chemical and Biological attacks. Fighting along side her men, she has taken more than a few bullets for them. They respect her like she was their own mother." "So thats why they call her Hard Mommy..." "No, Hard Mommy isn't for that. Its because she's a top."

North American Total Solar Eclipse, 8 April 2024

This is your friendly heads-up that if you want to travel to see the total solar eclipse coming up in the spring, now* is a good time to start making your arrangements!

This one will be visible as at least a partial eclipse to most of North America, with the path of totality cutting a diagonal from Sinaloa, Mexico to Newfoundland, Canada, including 15 US states from Texas to Maine.

Although we just had one a few years ago in 2017, we won't have another solar eclipse visible in the continental US until 2045--and the path of totality for the 2024 one is within driving distance for a much larger proportion of the US population than either 2017 or 2045. The Northeastern US won't see another until the 2070's.

For millions of people, including me, this will be a once-in-a-lifetime chance to see a total solar eclipse without getting on a plane. Hotels in major cities along the path of totality are already starting to fill up.

Last time, in 2017, I was able to see the partial eclipse from where I live, but it wasn't feasible to travel to see the totality. I heard from people who did see the totality that it's really quite something, so I decided back then that I was going to go to this one. (The one in 2079 might be a bit closer to where I currently live, but I'll be 101 by then, so I figure I'd better not wait.)

Erie, PA is the closest place for me to see it, and I figured I'd camp. I started looking into it last night, and pickings are pretty slim already. I lucked into a camping cottage at a park 20 minutes' drive outside the path of totality--I think someone must've cancelled recently, for me to get it, because out 87 spots, all they had left was 9 tent/trailer sites, and the one cottage.

So anyway, if you want to go, it's an overnight trip for you, and you don't want to end up sleeping in your car at a rest area, now's* the time!

(*Actually several months ago would have been the best time, but the second-best time is now.)

Hey. Hey. Hey.

Buy your solar eclipse glasses and solar lens covers for your camera now.

B&H Photo is selling a kit that comes with two pairs of glasses and covers for ur phone camera for fairly cheap right now. They also have varying packs of the paper glasses by themselves, as well as sunglasses-looking ones for a bit more.

adhd tip you can replace a “meal” with up to 3 hours of “the app” but watch out

okay done 👍 why am i hurts

Because of this post whenever I notice I’m mindlessly scrollling through social media instead of important things like eating I think the words “The App” repeatedly untill I close it

This looks like a fucking parody post, or an edgy edit, but it’s 100% official real Flintstones.

Clarification: I don’t hate this book, I love it, it’s amazing. It’s just that taking a step back and looking it out of context is still really funny. Especially the line “We participated in a genocide, Barney.”

ok but imagine them in their cartoon forms saying this dialogue i’m

can we have some context to this, perhaps?

Bedrock is having a mayoral election. One of the candidates is a violent war mongering asshole that riles people up against the lizard people. This reminds Fred and Barney of their time in the army.

Back then the father of said violent candidate was riling people up against the “tree people”. Fred, Barney, and other soldiers fought what they believed to be a defensive measure against the tree people. Turns out, it was actually an invasion, in order to kill off the tree people and take over their forest to build Bedrock.

That’s what Fred means when he says he and Barney participated in a genocide. They literally did.

(Extra fun fact, Barney adopted a tree person baby after the war, and his son Bamm-Bamm is the last tree person.)

There are a lot of interesting things about this post but the AK-47 shaped spear is what really got me

This is just as wild with the context
