This entirely. I’ve worked retail, they never held us accountable for losses due to theft, and honestly how could they? Shoplift, help your neighbors, the whole system is set up to hurt all of us anyway so fight it!!
Literally when I was closing for w*l-m*rt electronic section I had, IN ONE NIGHT, 6 PS4 controllers ($60 each), 3 arcade machines ($120 each), and 3 home speaker systems ($500 each) stolen while I was stocking and helping other customers and I never, EVER, was held accountable for that despite being the ONLY person in the department that night. That’s aprox. $2220 stolen in ONE NIGHT, and it affected me in absolutly no way.
Stealing things that you dont need? Wrong.
Stealing from small, local shops? Not only Wrong, but massively a dick move, as this IS the situation where stealing affects employees directly.
Stealing from big-name franchise stores to help yourself or others, ESPECIALLY in times of need? Punk as fuck and totally right, dont let anybody tell you otherwise. They wont notice the shit missing, and even if they do? It wont be significant enough to even *begin* to make a difference to them.

I really really don’t get this Protestant ethic type of response from people who do support shoplifting, where something becomes immoral simply because it’s frivolous or unnecessary. I see it all the time. Like, yeah, shoplifting is a victimless crime, but only do it if you’re poor for some reason? If you're in a place, mentally or physically, where you only have the spoons to take care of yourself in one way, I HIGHLY recommend taking care of your teeth.
Acne goes away. You can always start working out later. Stink is easily fixed with a single shower. Hair can be brushed and cut.
Issues with teeth are expensive, painful, and overall suck. Your teeth health can have an impact on other things, too, like jaw issues.
If you're faced with the choice of either taking a shower or brushing your teeth, I highly recommend brushing your teeth. Whatever tools help you to do that, disposable floss picks/toothbrushes, kids fun-flavored toothpaste, soft bristled brushes, anything is better than nothing.
My teeth are awful. I wish I'd had this advice ten years ago, so spreading this for others who need this advice. It's too late for me but not you!
