Chapter 158: Right

Pg 1: Rize walks across the water to where Kaneki is floating.

Pg 2: Kaneki asks Rize why she’s there and what she means by calling him a murderer. Rize stoops down and asks him where he was going. Kaneki says that he was going to where everyone is so that he can save them. Rize asks who he means by everyone.

Pg 3: Kaneki names all of his friends and members of Goat. He tells Rize that the CCG is after them.

Pg 4: Rize throws her head back and laughs. She tells Kaneki that he’s wrong, that the CCG went after everyone because he called himself the One-Eyed King and was with them.

Pg 5: Rize tells Kaneki that he tried to protect the ghouls but he really holed them up in a dangerous place. She asks him what he meant to do. He responds that he was going to protect everyone from the CCG and reform the broken ranks. He says that instead of solving the provisions problem (going into the forest to get food) they should have launched a surprise attack on the CCG to beat Furuta. Kaneki says that he needed to beat them so that they could talk.

Pg 6: Kaneki says that they would talk together to understand human and ghoul-kind and would have to dull the CCG’s forces first. Rize asks Kaneki if he wanted to become a dictator because he wanted to force humans to agree with him through military means.

Pg 7: Rize asks him what part of that is “talking”. Kaneki wonders if he really wanted to become a dictator. He says that if that is what it takes then he’ll do it. Rize says he has an admirable resolve but wants to see if he’ll keep it.

Pg 8:  Rize and Kaneki appear at the Goat’s base. Rize says that she saw everything crumbling to dust by his hand.

Pg 9: Rize asks if Kaneki thinks that she’s lying. She tells him to touch her hand for proof. Kaneki reaches his hand out and touches hers (note that Kaneki’s hand has an extra finger here).

Pg 10: Kaneki hears the screams of the people that he killed as the monster.

Pg 11: Kaneki recoils away from Rize.

Pg 12: Kaneki screams. He begins to ask about the people in the water. Rize confirms that they are the bodies of the people that he killed.

Pg 13: Rize says that he will have a lot to talk about. Kaneki sinks to his knees and begins to cry, saying that it wasn’t what he wanted. Rize repeats his words, “protect everyone” and “create a world where humans and ghouls can understand each other”.

Pg 14: Rize stands before Kaneki and laughs. The empty hallway of the shrine is shown.

Pg 15: Rize asks Kaneki if he wants to go back to save them. She says that he makes her laugh.

Pg 16: Rize says that because Kaneki keeps doing things people keep dying. She says that it would have been better if he had done nothing from the start.

Pg 17: Only black is shown. Rize asks if this is what Kaneki wanted.
