Fuck everyone who bullied Emily VanCamp

“She gets in the way of Stucky!” “What we really want is Romanogers!” “Ugh she’s so gross for getting with Steve when he and Peggy kissed!”

How many people out there tried to get her to kill herself because then Sharon would be written out of the MCU and your fave actor would be happy, or your ship would have a better chance of sailing? I know I saw multiple conversations about that on twitter. How many people just sent her hateful comments or retweeted and reblogged hateful articles or made beard jokes?

“BUT I THOUGHT IT WOULD MAKE MY FAVE ACTOR HAPPY!!!”

Yeah, one of her coworkers (Atwell) originally wanted to play Sharon herself and said if she played Sharon, Sharon and Steve would be true love. And yeah, as soon as she realized Emily VanCamp was cast, she eviscerated Sharon and Steve, or just Sharon, for the next five years. Yeah, she probably WOULD have been happy if EVC had killed herself and Sharon had been written out. Plenty of people thought so at the time, certainly. And now she’s gotten everything she wanted without EVC killing herself. She must be absolutely thrilled. But her bad behavior doesn’t excuse yours. And by the way, Emily was kind to Atwell and every other person attacking her on social media. You really want to back the bully? Of course you do. Because you wouldn’t have bullied Emily VanCamp if you weren’t a bully yourself.

“BUT I DON’T LIKE THE SHIP”

And I don’t give a shit. You weren’t supporting your ship, you were trying to destroy a person for doing their job. You weren’t supporting your fave actor, you were tearing down their coworker and patting yourself on the back for it. You never asked Marvel to incorporate Sharon in a non-romantic way, you signed petitions demanding she be written out of the MCU.

So not only has Sharon likely been written out of the MCU (nazis are fine, but even a hint of incest is not, and thanks to Steve, Markus, and McFeely, there’s more of a hint there), but now Emily VanCamp’s team is cancelling her appearances. She was scheduled to appear at the Monte Carlo Festival in June to talk about her show The Resident, but after a fan site asked for details, it turns out that in the wake of Endgame, they’ve cancelled her appearance.

You bullied an actress because of a fictional ship so badly that the franchise wrote her out via incest, and now she’s backing out of interviews, likely because of how probable it is that Marvel will come up. 

So congratulations on being horrible people. Congratulations on getting Sharon out of the MCU. Congratulations on bullying Emily VanCamp so effectively that her character was written out of the MCU without a mention of the character since 2016. Congratulations on bullying her so much that her team doesn’t want her doing interviews.

Everyone who treated Sharon or Emily badly can go fuck themselves.
