“What’s so special about the official ball anyway? And why are only our superiors invited? I don’t get it!” Eren shook his head and Petra patted his back as you stood to the side, observing his poor young mind struggle with the answer to a question nobody had come to learn since the ball’s very creation.

“Don’t worry, Eren. You’ll probably go to the ball one day yourself.” Petra smiled reassuringly as you bit down on your tongue in order not to blurt out a comment along the lines of “if you survive long enough to become a higher-up that is”, which would either make him cry in the middle of breakfast or scream like a titan was sitting next to him at the table. Not wanting either to happen, you kept your mouth shut and watched your Corporal make his way to your squad’s table. It hit all five of your comrades as a surprise that he would choose to sit with you when the superiors’ table was just ten feet away. You all stared at him in silent wonder as he sipped on his tea like it was a daily occurrence and, once having sensed your curious gazes, the raven faced you with a click of his tongue and a raised eyebrow.

“What’s with the stares? Never seen a man drink tea?” He spat - obviously not in the mood for any kind of judgemental stares - and you, as the squad’s official smart-ass, answered him first.

Hi! Could you do a one-shot of Jean/Girlfriend. His lover drank the wine and turned into a Titan after Zeke screamed. Then could you show everyone’s reaction and what they decide to do. :D

A/N: Sorry this took a little bit, but I’m really happy with how this turned out! Also had to catch up on the last two episodes that came out (including the one today omg it was so good). I did take some liberties with the second part of your request, as I focused more on Jean’s reaction.  I hope you enjoy and thank you so much for your request!

You weren’t one to enjoy alcohol. Usually, you would avoid having even a single glass of wine because you didn’t want to risk the possibility of you being drunk. The thought of being out of your own control in a world that was already so messed up plagued your mind enough to the point that when you and your buddies were passing around a bottle, you’d pass on the opportunity. Plus, the taste of it wasn’t fantastic enough to warrant you actively seeking a sip of the purpley-red liquid.

However, that one night where you wanted to just forget about the fact that your comrades, your family, and your closest friends were six feet under - and you were only nineteen yourself - you found yourself with a flush on your cheeks and a giggle in your throat. It felt so good at the moment, like you were flying in the sky. It was that same adrenaline and completely pleasant feeling that you remembered experiencing when you first mastered using ODM gear; playing hide and seek in the training forests with Connie, Jean, and Sasha. It made you feel like a fifteen year old again. You felt like your old self. Now, it just made you miserable.

He didn’t think devils were supposed to be beautiful. Not when, for the majority of his life at least, he had pictured them to be vile and cruel monsters, with grotesque faces that snarled down upon him and his people — cursing them to deal with the consequences of the evil-doers actions. Those, only an ocean away, were grimly cackling at what was left of the Eldian’s sheltered in Liberio; the demons were howling so loudly at how his people failed to run away, instead choosing to take responsibility, that the force of their laughter was what pushed the wind inland, towards Marley. That is what everyone said to him as a young boy, anyway, and he figured it must’ve been the truth.

However, within the few years he spent hiding in the devil's den, he found that those scary stories weren't exactly true. At least not in present terms. What he was taught — ever since the early days of his life where he questioned why he had to wear an armband and why he wasn’t allowed to leave the walls — about the devils on the island was a lie.

He didn’t understand how history and all those lessons could be so wrong. These devils, who he had lived beside and shared smiles with, weren’t the ones he had been forced to learn about. It was a bitter truth he was certain of.

two | chapter 3 [wip]

A break from everyday life is just what you are in need of, desperately.

Second year of medical school, a part-time job afterwards, and family stress to top it – you only had two days of break from the strain… barely. The weekend would never be enough time to unwind. Inevitably, you were starting to burn out of everything without realizing it.

Thankfully, you achieved freedom at last. You finally reached winter break and were gifted three weeks off before returning to the daily hell. All you had to do was focus on work, yourself, and your family. Reading manga, watching anime and other TV shows, playing video games, road trips with friends, painting, but most importantly… sleeping in.

You don’t have the most exciting life, in your opinion. You sleep, die at school, die at work, visit your mother who has Alzheimer’s whenever possible, then repeat. On Friday nights, you’re at home instead of clubbing with some of your friends. Living in your own cozy and neat apartment in a semi-safe location within Los Angeles, one bedroom and one bath, life felt normal. You didn’t mind living alone. In fact, you enjoyed it.
